Hey mgoowdin, we got the button fixed. Thanks for letting us know about that!
The CBA has been a thing for about a year. We haven't talked to Martin specifically. We have gone into Pro Ski a few times to connect with Mike, who was involved in advocacy in the past, but have neve...
Yeah, Davis looks like an excellent corn ski. So I guess the sno park is more full mid winter with sledders when the grooming is still going. I thought the warm temps and crusty snow might cause the m...
Aaron you were the first people we passed (more like got passed by) all day! Looks like you found some great stuff back there!
That's still really helpful, gets you a thousand feet off the bottom. By the time you can drive to that gate, probably lots of other attractive things (Teanaway, etc) have started melting out.
@john-morrow where is FS 4315 gated? Driving partway up the road would be very useful in the spring for corn tours. Your photos from spring look wonderful back there.
I think at first those sort of conditions TRs moved over to Facebook, but even now, those groups are too big and community too large for people to feel comfortable sharing their stashes. NWAC obs seem...
@JohnMorrow thank you for the great explanation into the history of this area. I'll add details to my blog about Ladybug.
I had the same thought about a hut system in this area with the new Fortune C...
Thanks for sharing that information Lowell!
@ajscott the only times I had visited skiing in the range were March to early April, and I think the lower elevations melt out earlier on the eastside than at Snoqualmie, where the snowpack reaches it...
I have mixed feelings about giving out detailed GPX tracks (which is different than posting a map, like this). GPX allows people to follow your path to the foot. I try not to encourage people to follo...
@darin-berdinka I understand where you are coming from. I think that there are plenty of opportunities for adventure that doesn't have detailed GPS tracks. There is not a shortage of that in the winte...
@arb looks fun! Did you access this with a sled or just skin the road? How long is the approach in winter? I'm not quite sure where the roads are plowed to.
Blewett indeed was in on Sunday. It was also the most reactive storm snow I've ever seen! Nearly every little roll near 30 degrees was sliding on a weak layer of facets about 16 inches down. I never h...
@darin-berdinka there were quite a few tracks in the closer sidecountry that we eventually ran into, but remarkably no tracks in the big bowl (supposedly "Hidden Bowl") that we dropped into. Bet thing...
@waveshello I love it! Maybe you should write a T-themed Dr. Suess book for your daughter!
@kamtron sorry to hear you're struggling with the recovery also, but given our current snowpack and weather, you have some time to recover before the corn cycle! The general declining trend of the Eas...
@doug-hutchinson forgive me, the new generation is completely historically illiterate of the exploits occurring during the dark ages before IG and FB destroyed our online forums! Cascade climbers - wh...
@osean what is p3?
Peakbaggers would be up in arms that I passed so close to the Logan summit but did not bag it. The descent of the Banded could have been really good, just we had bad snow. The climb up to the Fremont...
Incredible trip, story telling, and photography. This is what it is all about! I did the same traverse on foot last summer. The best part was all the melted out glacial tarns and lakes, dozens of them...
I've learned the hard way to bring epoxy in my repair kit! Always remember Murphy's Law...
@aaasen it seemed like a nice way to reduce the total vert and get around Chikamin. The north side of Chikam...
The boys were already discussing how long that would take us... 😝
@cumulus if this is what New England skiing is like, then I'm sorta jealous...
Honestly this is the most easy, fun terrain I have ever skied in the Snoqualmie area. Just pure, type 1 fun. Maybe it is...
@galenweld we started around 6:30 am I think? Just as it was getting light. We needed headlamps on neither end of the day.
That first shot is great!
@Jim bummer to hear that. I guess the sun while we were out worsened the crust. The skinning was pretty rough I agree.
Nick and I were oogling at those coolies from Big Chiwaukum. Rad!
@jtack I'm using a Sony a6000 with a 18-135mm lens. You're correct, composition is the key ;).
