Beautiful pics! Looks like an awesome day!

Pine Siskin. Thanks chamois!

Still a little thin, and cold!

Yea those rock bumps look dangerousđŸ€Ș. There are lower elevation, and lower angled slopes that can be safely skied as they are meadow grass. But not nearly as fun as the higher slopes. Glad you got up ther and found open slopes!

Spooky boulder field!   Pine sisken, if anyone wants to know about the smash-up

Poor thing, the bird not you...you got the goods.

Thanks for the post Pavel!

Very Nice, thanks for the trip report and conditions of snowpack

I skied the SE aspect, typical hayrick butte tour! Skinned in on the snowmobile track, and took a right just before the open glad on the SE corner.

Thanks for the TR evanraj513.  Good to see more OR reports!  Any photos or deets on which aspect you skied?  Cheers and thanks again!

I had closer to 15” at the Pass and had good turns on everything low angle. Steeper was exciting. Would be better tomorrow but I’ll be traveling

It’s also a big help to have a pair of 130 under foot skis to float on (like Mikes Legit 130’s).

HAHAHA! We did find 4 good turns... But here is the truth of it!

Thanks for the conditions update! It should keep getting better and better looking at the forecast. Can’t wait to head up!

I am confused. I thought Stevens opened today(Wednesday) with limited terrain. Was the backside open?  Any delays? What has opened?

Thanks

Wow - great pics! Thanks for sharing.

Wow! You got the spot!

Very cool. I really liked my ski trip up to that peak last April or so (can't remember offhand). I was also surprised how flat it was! But really cool area. Loved seeing the Eldorado Massif, Backbone ridge, etc., from the other side.

Sunday was incredible, the same hike except the snow was more than double in dumpage and the front north facing side was all filled in.   Lots of touring people up there but skiing fresh snow up to the knees was the order of the day.   Resort is still not open but that should change soon.

Amazing lines. What's the exit like from the shoulder between the lookout point and summit of Mt Brown? I've been looking at tons of photos and it just looks like a bunch of cliffs. Also, did you exit via Snyder Creek or ascend back to the lookout?

Tomorrow should be even better

Must be White Pass. Sounds like you nailed the timing.

I don't know any of the places you named, so I'm in the dark about location, but it sounds pretty nice. Mission Ridge is brown in all directions except for the one run with man-made snow. Hurtin' fer Certain!

Nice Day😀

Way to go you guys! Classic case of you don’t know if you don’t go. Great pic of wizard island and Amy.

Way to go, Mack! It would be at the edge of my muster capacity to go out in the weather you described in this and the previous report :)

Beautiful spot! Thanks for the stoke. I need to visit Crater Lake now :)

That's dedication!

It is good news that you did NOT bring the camper for a night in the campground.😀

Go Moxie Go

A dog who always lets one of you get first tracks!

Nice pix

No thanks to the cable car

Thank you Fuzz for the excellent and humorous trip report. I could feel it every step of the way. I agree about the fatigue with rugged individualism. It's just not the same when there is no escaping the hordes anywhere outdoors. And I'm one of them! (sigh)

Your report and photos bring back "old times" of November when I still had "rock skis".😀

Where was this?

Way to go, Don! Whatever it takes sometimes. Good to hear how Stevens is too. I've been tempted to run up there and check it out!

Thanks for replies, I suppose google could have been simpler haha!  Looks like an awesome trip!

Amazing pictures. And I love how every shot includes your dog!

Silas I love it! That trail description is awesome. Syguy, the pin in Silas's link is in fact where we parked. We met a guy there with a snowmobile who had groomed a ski trail on the side road, and there were several people skiing the trail plus a few families with young children playing in the snow. That overlook is a popular place!

I think mikerolfs said they parked at the overlook, not the “lookout”.  Google says this about it:  https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/washington-pass-overlook   It appears to say that area is closed for the winter now.  Is google searching something only old people do anymore?

Sick. I'm liking the backdated TRs

Canadians are just at another level than anyone with traverses. So inspiring.

And with everybody seemingly geeking out about ultralight gear, these folks are carrying standard winter pow touring setups. (I'm sure there was plenty of geeking out about other stuff, but just an observation.)

Strong!

For sure! Something to keep the mind yearning for, as we go through the early season precip flux...

What an amazing traverse! Beautiful photos too. The Canadians really do it bigger. Reading about epic traverses like this and the Full Coast Range Traverse is incredibly inspiring. It makes even the most ambitious traverses in the Cascades looks small, even though they definitely aren't!

Very cool! When you say you parked at the lookout, is that the parking area near the hairpin turn? I have a big itch to get out to this area!

Thanks for the report!

We were so happy to play in the meadow two weeks ago, and now there are 2 feet of soft snow on top of the crust that developed on this warm day. Crazy. So happy to have winter knocking on our door!

Well, we aren't skiing here!

Sooooo good! Those squigglies on the White Salmon were sublime. It's been too long since I did that tour. Thanks for the stoke as I imagine all the beautiful snow up that way turning to soggy mank.

Thanks for the great trip Mike, quiet dream state skiing in knee deep powder in November. What a lucky treat. Sorry for no pictures, another example of faltering tec skills.

NIce work team! I was amazed at how good the skiin was up at stevens yesterday!

Thanks for the Wait-Gate update, Randy!  Sounds as tho the NPS has almost returned to the system used in the 70's and 80's, where one had to hike over to the Longmire Inn desk and ask for the gate combination (changed daily.)  It was very satisfying to be able watch the sunset or even enjoy moonlight skiing.  I never heard of anyone being hassled by rangers for being late. I do recall that the numbers on the lock's brass dials were so worn it was hard to read them in the headli...
