Great job, fantastic beta, good to meet you.in the parking lot!

I always wanted to get this one but never got it together. Nice job and pix.

Fantastic! How often can you check off a monster climb or line, and get to enjoy it and take fantastic photo’s on the way? For many people - never. 😍

Nice work. Way to make a conservative call too!

Big day! Thanks for the writeup.

A few years back I took a similar exit with Eazy-Eric much earlier in the season. We scrambled about 15' of the same slabs in ski boots which was kind of sketchy but worked out.

Stoked you got good snow on the glacier!

Mmmmmmm....Hardee's.

Thanks Pete and Becky for a trip report which included relevant info on snow conditions, trail and route choices, times of day, crevasses, road issues....all in addition to positive stoke and nice photos! Salud!

Fully skinnable on the up (w/ ski crampons) and rippable on the down!

Someday I want to ski the Roman Wall in conditions like that.

It's been a good snow year I'd say

thanks for the alternative approach info Kam,  nice work keeping the skis on to the TH!

Nice, I was the solo skier who passed you on the glacier. Pretty good conditions I thought from top to 8k!

I was able to skin continuously from the TH by following an old logging road through the clearcut. There was a bare patch and some brush, I joined the Scott Paul briefly but around 4200' followed an open draw due N to the ridge. This route allowed me to keep skis on to the...

Pete,

Your TR is excellent for the conditions on your route. Plus, some nice turns. 😀

Looks like a fun tramp! Still a fair bit of snow hanging on despite the heat, huh?

Rangers say road is 100% snow free.

to get to camp, did you traverse south (following the trail) around east peak?

or did you go up the Daniel Glacier?

Great pictures!

So cool that it is still going.

Pretty steep.... ;)

Peakbaggers would be up in arms that I passed so close to the Logan summit but did not bag it. The descent of the Banded could have been really good, just we had bad snow. The climb up to the Fremont was one of my favorite parts of the trip, such a wild valley.

Yea big heads up on the new snow, on monday I was finding 5-10 inches new with big wet slab releases, wished I brought my fatties.

Great photos. Looping around Logan via the Banded Glacier seems like a good route, with better skiing. The Fremont Glacier has nice views, but the skiing isn't exceptional. When I was skiing routes like this in the 1980s thru 2000s, I tended to look for the most efficient way in terms of climbing and descent, not the best ski terrain, so we overlooked some nice descents like the Banded Glacier.

Thanks for the post! Looks nice.

Aka "Hemlock couloir", I hear it's steep!

An amazing journey superbly captured in beautiful prose and incredible pictures, thank you Kyle.

Only broke one piece of ski equipment this trip? Seems like you are starting to taper for the long, dry shoulder season.

Wow, thanks for sharing--I feel transported. The image of Goode at sunrise is incredible.

Lovely. Nice to see folks doing long tours!

Thanks for the info. I should get back up there this summer...

franzi, i don't have a track,

it is just to the west, as you head up Great Scott bowl under the Tooth.

Looks fun, could you share tracks for this? Thanks so much :)

Nice to have all that ambience to yourselves. I bet it was a bumping bivy party. Wish I could have joined!

Nice! So cool. We suspected someone had to have been skiing out there over Memorial Day Weekend, and kept hitting "refresh" on TAY hoping to see up-to-date info on the road. Glad you waited till today to share -- if we'd had confirmation for how much road we'd have to walk, we might have bailed for a lazier plan.... But I'm sure glad we didn't.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!

Re: the Crescent Creek Spires photo, hedonaut is correct. The two highest summits in the shot are Terror (middle) and Degenhardt (right).

From left to right, the summits are Ottohorn, Himmelhorn, the Twin Needles, The Rake, and then Terror and Degenhardt. Further right are Inspiration and McMillan spires which are kinda indistinguishable from one another.

Re: stefan's camera questio...

Annette looks good to go for me!

A bit bumpy on the bowl, though

Thanks Hedo, that's right, now I remember a slightly different version of that view from below Triumph col! Some cool stuff back there, if you can get to it...

Agree, fantastic trip and depiction(s)!  Looks like you nailed the window.

Kam, that looks like a sweet perspective on the Crescent Creek Spires (west half of Southern Pickets).  My favorite photo of many good ones!

Pugh looks funner than getting tackled by ice blocks, for sure!

OUCH!!!

Great!  I find your pictures extremely sharp!...and I like it.  I don't know what you are doing with your camera.  What are you using?

Very cool trip and thanks for all the photos.

I'm curious what area this is:

Sunrise behind the Southern Pickets, including Terror (center) and Degenhart (right).

Diobsud buttes would be my guess but I really dunno!

Incredible trip, story telling, and photography. This is what it is all about! I did the same traverse on foot last summer. The best part was all the melted out glacial tarns and lakes, dozens of them. But the worst part was all the bushwhacking. So I'm undecided whether I would like it better on skis or on foot. You have inspired me to maybe try it on skis someday! Thank you for sharing!

Incredible effort dude--Such a ballsy solo adventure. I especially appreciate the effort you put in to capturing some of those photos, like the one where you seem to be several hundred yards away from the camera. I hope you experienced remarkable serenity and awe on your journey!

Nice! Great timing!

Way to get out there and find it!

Nice to see it still went. Awesome location for skiing! Great pictures!

Beautiful trip. What a great way to explore a lovely area. Thanks for sharing.

timmyfitz1,

Sorry for delayed reply. Some people went up Grouse Creek on the day of our climb and I think it was still in for the descent. It was still a lot of snow on our trail. It's been quite warm lately so I don't know how it is now.
