Making Crater Lake Lemonade
We brought our full touring gear with us on a thanksgiving roundtrip, hoping to find snow between Central WA and San Francisco. Instead we found an unusually warm weather cycle and a lot of In-N-Out. But thanks to my wife, and instagram hashtags, we made lemonade at Crater Lake National Park.
Bare on southern slopes, about 6 inch base on northern slopes from prior snowfall. We founds lots of low angle slopes within 1 mile of the Rim Village. The road (usually used for XC skiing) has just enough snow to skin continuously for the first mile or so (we didn't go past that). A wonderful experience and can't wait to go back. There are steeper options for those willing to hike (and some right off the road) but they don't have enough snow yet, except for the most adventurous.
Beautiful spot! Thanks for the stoke. I need to visit Crater Lake now :)
Way to go you guys! Classic case of you don’t know if you don’t go. Great pic of wizard island and Amy.
