Ever'body gettin' it this October!

You drove to the pass from the east, right?  Where is the snow level in the Tieton?  I'm looking for dry rock in the next week.
Random rocks notwithstanding, your neighborhood coverage beats my neighborhood coverage in spades! Way to go get October, over and over...
Mike, thanks for the pictures, funny we were making a post at the same time!

Sweet Post!

Got to spend the trip of a lifetime there in August perhaps 15 years ago. I hear it's busier now but I'll never forget leaving the tiny ski area above the araucania trees and seeing no one for days. Walking on ridges feeling what it's like to walk on this skinny land so high up in the sky with the angry southern reaches of the world's largest oceans hurling weather at eac...
Thanks for improving our otherwise gloomy day!  Been down there climbing for a couple months at a time and now have a friend living in Chile.  A winter visit looks pretty cool - nice photos!
Looks like way too much fun for October! You should be sulking in the rainy darkness.

Chile looks amazing! This site is a gem and in much need of an upgrade to revitalize the community here. We wait patiently till then :)
Looks like an awesome trip - Chile is on my bucket list now, for sure : )

Guys, don't lose faith in TAY - I'm feverishly building an upgraded experience for y'all, and hope you'll keep posting once that's up and running. Almost there.
WOW! I want to go to Chile now!

I hate to see you posting on a different site instead of TAY, but I agree that the format on CC is pretty nice.

Agreed, SquakMtn, quite the delicate dance performance by alpinedad, indeed : )

Nice last minute grab there. Definitely a form of grace and balance known by any experience TAYer!

Well done, SquakMtn, wish I was there to capture this amazing feat!

Skiing is skiing for me. Some days are just wayyyyyyyy great. Looks like you had a great day in the mountains!!!
HAHA! Looks like we both spent the morning reliving yesterday's great tour!
Thanks for posting the report. I am almost ready to transition from thinking about boats to thinking about snow again. Just finished the salmon Moon and think October was the bears hibernate moon?
Thanks Jtack. Great to have a gift once a while. Have a good one.
Good work. Labour of love....I should say.

Thanks for the great video, such a crazy gift to be skiing great powder the end of September and the first of October.
Way to get after it! Jealous of you guys out east.

Snow dance
Thanks for sharing.... These are the days that make the earned turns all year journey worth it.... I am not sure I would be looking or thinking about  skiing powder on October first....And of all places the Southern Okanagan. Surreal moment. I remember coming to this area a few times....driving from the Coast with the High School ski team.... At the time...my friend and I had minimal intentions of finishing the race course set up....We just wanted o ski moguls. When mogul skiing was cool? 8...
Saw you guys up there ripping it. Visibility was rough but still a great day with the fresh snow! Winter is coming early this year
Good post Mike! Today was still great! Nice seeing you.
Thanks for the TRs and welcome to TAY!
Nice hippy photo...could use some skins with a tie-dye pattern....
Great seeing you out again. Thankful my dog was going so slow because otherwise it probably woulda taken a big nosedive to realize my boots were still in walk mode...  ??? ::) ;D

Cool pic, kamtron - must have been a helluva trip.

I'm going to leave the dogs at home and maybe shoot for a 10k day tomorrow. Was debating heading toward stemilt basin. Think that'd be worth the effort?

10k in this baseless snowpack would be Herculean! I'd stay on the runs. Some big rock off piste could shark you.
Looks like a bit more snow overnight. Wish I was at Mission this morning. Have fun Mike!

Ha, way to go, alpinedad - October turns in the bag!

This is what happens when Silas travels to Europe to go "biking". ;)

Great TR and photos. Your buddy passed out in the back. :D

I visit this patch of grass above Lake Clara that I keep secret and don't talk about. I dream of early season storms that would let me ski on 3 inches of snow on this little meadow paradise. I have cleared lanes on this grassy hill so that no rocks or sticks will impede early freak storm skiing. I knew weather was coming, so last night I walked up to this patch of grass and fine graded...
156 nice!

But that snow looks pretty sad. Love how you tossed your skis! You should drive to Wenatchee and ski pow for October. Probably will still be good on Tuesday.
Fun to meet you in the parking lot, Anthony! What a treat to ski powder at the home hill in September! It was such a spectacular day, I ended up staying til 4:30.

I measured 21 inches at the top of chair 3. Tomorrow will be even better!
