I hope your day was as good quality as ours!
We had an interesting visit to the ski patrol. We tried to check in, esp. since we expected lots of grooming. A patroller let us in, then kinda told us to check the website, because when they have to answer people's questions they can't do other work. The patroller told us the new uphill policy now requires an uphill travel card to be carried by everyone, and to look at the website to find out how to obtain one.
Hmmm....

Thank you a thousand times for that.

..one could make a small wood block rig?
Yeah, good idea, I might give that a try. I've started putting the skates on before the boots. But that only works if you approach not in your boots :)
Thanks for the update on skate touring gear. Ive also seen that site by Luc.
Looks like a blast !
Perhaps to make it easier to enter bindings one could make a small wood block rig?
Thanks again

Hey , please put up some pics of that skate rig! or pm works.
Last year I found a site which had some detail of such rigs.
East side of the Cascades would be a great area for that gear.

Nice! I planned to do some tours this July in Chile but the logistics didn't work out so I just hit Portillo. Beautiful, but not much snow at that time.
I think Portillo never really had any snow this year. In any year, July is pretty darn early. August-September are probably more reliable, as much as anything in the Central Andes is reliable.
I can still remember us riding on those ski doos at midnight up to the cabin drop off in BC and waiting for the snow cat to come up with everyone else and the ski guide Alicia telling us that great story about the great dog who saved the little boys life when he was lost in the forest over night while we passed the time in the freezing winter starlight.
I am officially retired this ye...
That vitamin P will be here soon enough.
Makin' lemonade like crazy, Mike! Very inspiring, as usual : )
Mike, I was just kidding; you and I are on the same page. It was an awesome day to be outside.
Cool skate attachments, never knew they existed
I do love skiing right to the car, but I don't weight the ski to hike ratio much in trip value. Those photos are worth a 20 mile walk, even if you only got to ski 200 feet!
I got the idea from Luc Mehl who is an ambassador for the Winter Wildlands Alliance. He does crazy trips on skates (like 150 mile ice skate approaches to ski tour!).

that is bad @$$, Mike! Super cool - where does one get those fancy blades for ski boots?
Stevens skied well and Wells skied Stevens.
Mosetick was a kick, and I was less oxidized than I used to be.
See, I can go to someplace that's not off Mount Baker Highway!
Lovely day in the mountains.
