This a GREAT trip report and photos. ;)

I like breaking up the report and only 3 photos for each section. Yes, many folks can add more photos BUT breaking up the sections was great.

Thank you .
Thanks for one of the best TRs in a long time!
Nice one Kam and co, have always wanted to check that out!
None of us had ever skied the Swath before. Standing on top, we could tell it would be a killer run in stable powder! But, unfortunately, it looked like what we had in store was more wind slabbed nastiness. We had encountered ski tracks by now and could see nice looking turns below. So we followed the tracks down the NE ridge of "Swath peak" into the forest and down. The ridge itself was sort of technical skiing, and the other guys walked down some. At one point, it looked like one of...
We skipped tagging the summit of Big Chiwaukum since we knew there'd be sunny slopes to get through and we didn't want to be in the line of fire later on. Skiing down to Cup lake was really good for a few turns before it got wind-jacked but still okay down low. Pic is of mega Jack shredding with Baker, Sloan, and a number of other peaks in the distance.

The N fork Chiwaukum drainage had more mega traversing in store. We skinned briefly through a peaceful, shady forest to lin...
After crossing through another portal, we found ourselves atop a large, shady, and imposing cirque that drains into Glacier creek. From here, the brief description we had said to "maintain elevation", so we skinned northwards before getting stymied by steep terrain, backtracking, and making a descending traverse for a bit with skins off. This got us to the E buttress/ridge of peak 7804. The snow in this cirque was a lot more wind drifted than we had encountered so far, and we were on e...
Once across the cirque, we decided to climb Snowgrass peak, as described in the Volken et al. book. This is a nice ski summit from the SE side. I was leading at one point and noticed the snow stiffening into a slab and felt a "whoomph" near a rock. Luckily the slope was low angle, and I changed directions to avoid the more blasted snow.

The 360* views from Snowgrass were spectacular! We actually watched a party of 2 or 3 skiing down into the S Fork Chiwaukum drainage behind...
The next descent was also amazing fluffy powder! I couldn't resist taking it a bit farther than optimal for traversing.

From our low point, we skinned and briefly booted up moderately steep slopes with small trees to gain the high cirque. I was somewhat apprehensive about this traverse, as I knew it faced East and we would be underneath slopes that could threaten us (and we were above cliffs). However, in retrospect the terrain is wide and only moderately steep. In any case, we m...
AWESOME! Way to get way out there!
Nice one!
Pretty exciting coming across that hare. Interesting how much wasn't eaten.
As we climbed Chatter creek, we observed plumes blowing off the peaks above, a sure sign of high winds. The snow we skinned on was dry powder, so we knew it would be moving with the wind. After one false start stymied by fat wind drifts, we found an okay route to gain the pass to Index creek drainage. An amazing but short descent on perfect protected powder took us to a camp among the larches just across the pass.

We set up Jack's mid and enjoyed beautiful sunset colors on Icicle...
Hmm in that case I'll take my pass just in case I get lucky???
I did my favorite skimo loop at Summit Central around noon today and conditions were excellent. Very smooth with just a little softening.

The Central Express chair was running as ski patrollers were removing stuff from the hill. Seemed like they must have had some friends or family up there because some non-patrollers were skiing the lifts as well.
WE will pick up the slack at west on thursday . Lazy start around 10am
Aaasen and I took the same trip on St. Patty's day. Didn't leave any Green Snow, but had a helluva time!
Thanks for sharing. Earned turns all year 162. Finally reached the goal of 100 East Peak Summits. I always feel humbled by the mountains. And always come back to society in a better mood. All the best to the Turns all year and PNW skiers....and all skiers and snowboarders....all mountain riders..... I hope everyone stays healthy....even if you do not have a chance to run to the hills.
Your trip report and photos brings back great memories. :)
Good Report ! Sounds like a good tour for social distancing!
Very Interesting ! Ive done Silver peak basin just about every way possible including passing over and back thru Nordic Pass and the way you skied back. My preferred route is ski down to near power lines from grand junction then  a one skin up from the power lines as you described and then after skiing Silver pea Basin ski  back to near the same  transition  spot and skin back thru grand junction. Transition once in and once out, under the right conditions very little skating...
Nice job you two and great write up! Loved the 2 person perspective,  especially the bit about freedom opening it's gates. Seems like you took the time to really appreciate what that route has to offer. One of my favorites for sure. Thanks for posting!
Welcome to TAY! Nice TR, it was a beautiful day! You can borrow my ski crampons next time.
Nice "lazy thing to do" plus Leo did not need to break an uphill track. ;)
Your trip reports are great to read, plus the "dumb and smart"parts. ;)
Nice outing! BTW; what is that stuff spraying up from the skis? Rain powder?? ;D ;D ;D
Nice!  Glad you got out with the Spiceman himself, I'm sure he kept the day flavorful.
Nice one John! Way to make friends with a snow dragon.  I was just thinking about the NBC the other day and wondering how my legs and feet would fare on the road.
Beauty! And in good conditions no less
nice work folks, glad you found it in good nick!

Kam, i was with Sky on the first descent, which i recall started some dumb Jan evening on Cascade River Rd well short of the Sibley turn-off -- ugh. (Also accompanied him on a previous attempt.) Have since climbed Lost Marbles two more times. Once after skiing the Kumquat with Dave (to your question), and then a year or two later skied most of Triad's W face to the lower Kumquat, finishing w/ the Lost M booter.  Lots of fantas...

Hey, this is cool! It's nice to see that get skied; it's a very memorable couloir.

The times I actually skied the route on the Triad, we used the col between Eldorado and the Triad to exit Marble Creek Cirque.

Kamtron, your post really confuses me. Can you point me toward a reference?

Thank you Sky for the vision in finding suc...
Wow, those look like some fun conditions!

People do ski it! I skied the marbles twice last year as a consolation prize while turning back on the cumshot. Did manage to ski the cumshot once. Fred this was the weekends before and after meeting you on Whitehorse! I did decide to exit via marble creek once . That was bushy. Sky you'll recognize these views from in the cumshot.
Solid work and beautiful photos

Helluva first post!
Hey Sky, it's great to hear from you. Since the Hidden Lake entry in the Volken guidebook mentions the existence of Lost Marbles but does not provide any detail, I would assume that the author did not ski it.
A second thanks for posting! It's a fun trip into memories.

K, upon review of Volken's book, the couloir is shown on a topo and a photo, but only mentioned as a brief aside in the Hidden Lake Peaks section.
This is RAD. nice work team, and thanks for the good content

Any other pics of the W face of Eldo and the rest of the basin?
Nice!!!

On Sunday Fred Newman, Jeff Wong, Sean Rogerson and I skied Lost Marbles Couloir (Hidden Lake area). We were wondering if anyone else has skied this line since it was pioneered by Sky Sjue & friends back in 2007. The fact that you have to find the couloir from above, ski it “blind”, and then ascend back up it to exit will keep most people away. For those willing...
Nice work!! (rock on emoji)
Nice working with you guys on this one. It was a hell of a day and a great objective! I think we all agreed that it was the hardest we have ever worked without going for a summit.
Amazing.  Thanks for the conditions report! I really need to get a sled.
Please post pictures of overhanging open snow book, have only seen bad drawings of such animal in first edition of freedom of the hills, Of course Fred would of flashed it with 215cm wooden skis.

Well I will admit to being so old that the last time I was on a tour with M., who was my partner on this outing, M. may have been on his 215cm Phoenix telemark skis, which people of my vintage will recall were the shiznizzle...back in the 1880s or so...

Dude... looks like a stellar day.
Rock on old man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get back over here to cashmere! We miss you!

Great report and photos.

I understand the use of the "sled". Great call. ;)
Nice one John!  Love the pic of Stu.  Ulrichs is calling!

Thanks for the report... And I've gone down that trail so many times in fading light with fading strength... But it still bothers me... Great use of the sled I'm sure!

Hey man check out those tracks!  Always nice to see where you've been.
