Nice TR! Good to hear folks making the most of all the rad terrain right off the beaten path.
What was the thinking on the easterly flow causing the valley to fill up with fog? The airmass on the east side of the crest tends to be drier, which made me curious.
Quite the adventure, @alpinedad - thanks for sharing. Best of luck with the hip going forward.
That's one way to avoid the usual queues during the summer.
“Coming up in wrong way” people taking ski/downhill exit route as uphill travel.
Thanks for posting - I've been curious what the conditions are like in the Kendall fun zone.
Hey nice running into you up there! great day for sure, what a cool zone. Got pretty windy later on when we came back up!
You inspired me to try a similar night tour at Snoqualmie tonight! Seems like a good way to get in some extra skiing when a desk job keeps me home all week.
Despite growing up in the area, I have never skied Summit West or Central and have only done one tour around Summit East before it officially opened. Any tips about where to park and things to watch out for on a night tour? Obviously grooming equipment may be out and I've read the uphill policy, but I want to be respectful of any...
ha! like Rob txtd me: You missed an amazing day of skiing!
...amazingly bad that is.
Crazy yo-yo weather patterns
Even those trees way up yonder still carrying snow--and a smidgen of hope--were just a crusty illusion
Saw a sun break or two lighting up the mountain from across the way tho, looked good.

I’m lazy AF and finally catching up on some TRs.
Is there some TAY technical hiccup going on?
What's with the spate of summer reports?
Way to go and get out there. I lacked the motivation to go sample bad goods...Maybe tomorrow. Glad it was netter than horrible...
@Chamois and @Hefta-Gaub...yup, pretty much just getting around to posting some TRs. Maybe I can edit the date to make it more searchable for folks looking for past summer TRs? I’ll try...
Apologies in advance... avy discussion dork-out about to occur....
As the forecast of avy danger was "considerable", I think you mean a "day of moderate terrain/exposure". With NWAC talking about possible buried facets/hoar, sounds like you made a good call. I've heard some stories about people getting in trouble off that E side of East Peak and N side of Bullion. Lots of mellow that-a-ways too.
I was like... WTH Nikki skied Squak again and didn't invite me! - Also Squak in December? Double WTH!?!
I'm using a Sony RX100 Mark 6. It's small enough to fit in a pocket so I always have it on me. Good zoom for scoping lines, pop-up viewfinder for shooting in bright conditions, 4K video. It's not very good in low light but that isn't usually an issue when skiing. The batteries don't last long when shooting video but they are small so it's easy to keep a few spares warm in a pocket.
Curious what Govus is using as well.
Im only 40 minutes away and i need to keep tabs on things in the lower valley as there is no telling how the snow comes in down there. Sometimes it sneaks over from the Enchantments and hammers parts of 97 but not the Pass...Ill try again Thursday afternoon.
Boy do I remember. Had five glorious daysup at mission ridge between end of September and beginning of October 2019.
Thanks for the pleasing potpourri of powder pix.
In 2019, late October had better snow than November or December. On Oct 28 we skinned from Stevens Lot C with over 2 feet of fresh! (no base)
It is a hardy soul that ventures to Blewett after the weather cycle we just had. Hat is off to you, thanks for the report.
Ha, you, guys, keep pushing the adventure-meter needle - quite inspiring. Glad you finished your outing safely, given the downclimb zones, especially the alder-laced waterafall - that must have been spicy!
Good on you, guys, to find some extra laps - we skied off the Divide down to Snowlake on Saturday, and found some decent turns. We were considering extending our outing to Avalanche, but for a couple different reasons decided to head back, instead - stoked to get your report from that zone now.
Wow, that looks thin! I skied it late Feb a couple seasons ago and I remember the lower section being thin even at that point in the season.
Lots of beautiful shots in your blog post. Snoqualmie is the best!
Sweet Panoramic. I think the pano' conveys way more of the experience of being somewhere. Rockin'
Looks awesome, thanks for sharing - brings back some good memories on Goat Mtn!
Wow..8" of QUALITY snow over the crust?? Baker always seems to deliver!
Wow, been a while since I’ve been down “Shepard’s Chute”. Way to nail it early season!
Damn! Early bird gets the worm, looks like. Well played, guys. Cool pic of the surface hoar.
Great photos fellas.
The the poorly bonded fluff, which seem to have lubricated his day, Mike looks right-happy. Fluorescing!
Thanks for the TR Randy. Maybe I'll use your route tomorrow...via skins or from above....
That looks great up high.
...and who says you can't have bushes on your ski-slope. Demand shrubs in your line!
Saw your tracks down the N Couloir, nice day.
Sure was fun. Here are a couple pictures of that cold NE side. Also, until it snows again, I think you can ice skate on Valhalla. There is just a light snow cover over smooth ice. That would be a fun afternoon!

Thanks, Jake. People that started earlier than me said it wasn't worth the effort, so I listened. :)
