Damn, this made me so stoked for you. Incredible trip and really appreciate your insight to your thought process. Congrats!
Thanks for the report, this one always seemed so cool to me. Probably had the whole place to yourself! And man, sorry to hear about your car! So frustrating that just parking at a TH these days is a r...
We skied this yesterday (sunday) and could make out your skin track at times. You mentioned you followed elk tracks: last year when I skied this we also encountered ungulate tracks along the ridgeline...
do you have an elevation for where snow started on the road to Silver Peak??
Thanks for the report and doing the hard work for us. Sounds like the road up to Silver basin might need another few weeks?
Jesse,
Bringing in a sled was challenging (in a fun kinda way) and tiring. Randy describes the middle section well - that is by far the crux. However, I would say it was much more difficult on the de...
@kamtron, there was a cook stove but it was locked up in the caretakers room...we sledded in a 2-burner cause there were 6 of us and we were there for 4 days so it felt worth it to cook big group meal...
Nice! definitely stared at this many times and wondered...stoked to see it goes in the right conditions. Way to go get it. I also wondered about that couloir climbers right of the notch; how wide is t...
@fuzz,
Glad to hear your buddy is ok. I'm a helmet-on the whole descent kind of guy, for exactly that reason. Sounds like better coverage than when I skied it in 2018, good to hear. 500 feet of caref...
Nice work! how long until you found consistent snow for skinning?
Do you think north facing aspects (kendall, snoqualmie, etc) will survive today's warm up? Hard to tell when the freezing levels go to 7k...
As someone who was born after '85, I've been a huge fan of TAY since I moved here. I was lucky to have some of you 'old farts' show me around when I first moved here, and I agree that it is an amazing...
@r1de, we got up there pretty early, and waited while several groups made their (firm) descents. by 12:45 it had started to soften, but not all the way. clouds were moving back in and we were worried...
I was up there today, unfortunately not the same level of solar as yesterday we waited for a while but can't say it was hero corn...still excellent day though.
jkordel, you're kidding! Incredibly frustrating. It couldn't have been more clear. And I even double-checked that we weren't going to get blown up on the north side of the creek.
Dang! Super solid effort, especially for Charlie! That first creek crossing photo looks spicy, is that the one at 3700 you mention? Also, do you know what elevation you started contouring north, above...
Hey nice running into you up there! great day for sure, what a cool zone. Got pretty windy later on when we came back up!
Nope! Clear sailing yesterday. a little compact snow/ice on the road but very manageable. Biggest risk in parking lot are people and dogs roaming about.
Hey Lane,Great to meet you and Thomas up there, glad to hear you guys made it out of Marbles ok. Hope to run into you again soon.
