Thanks Andy for bringing up an interesting subject (the claw marks)

I was puzzled by the claw marks but dismissed the idea that it might be a wolf simply because that doesn't seem particularly reasonable. They were large, much bigger than the coyote tracks I've seen in the past .It certainly was a not a dog, I was the only car in the lot and they appeared only briefly maybe 1-2 miles up the trail. Wish I had taken the time to find the clearest print.

It turned out to be quite an amazing day. I feel bad for those who turned around in the morning clouds and fog. Despite the fog, there were still quite a few people up there and almost everyone was on skis. There’s decent coverage to pebble creek. The snowfield was hard-packed and wind- blown but the last 1000 ft or so softened up nicely in the afternoon sun.

Ron Jarvis and I braved the forecast today and layed down our turns under forboding sky and very gusty winds. The Paradise patch under Mclure rock was our palette. Accessed through icy Golden Gate trail. Snow was a hob goblin mix but nobody fell. Ron did extremely well with his usual good humor given what he's been through.

Nice trip report, looks like the snow was great! Your right that road is almost a deal breaker, 15mph seems like max speed. I may go for round three, your skiing looked so good. The last time I went, I wished for crampons, was glad to have my ice ax, nice to have a reminder.
