Nice work Ron, you always get the goods no matter what conditions. I can't wait for this area to fill up.
Very nice.

That crust is unbelievable.  I had a hard time kicking steps into it, and the occasional slip on skins just hurts.

Cheers.

Excellent -- good to hear the two of you getting back at it!!!

There was even someone there who has a car just like Scotsman.

Must have been an imposer....I'd have never skied anywhere there was more than 5 TAYers with their rescue sleds. ;)

It was quite nice up there on Sunday, still plenty of fresh for everyone to share!

Hey, who let this guy on the TAY forum? : )  Yes, it was indeed a fun day up there.
Great photo of you Gus! Wish I could have joined you guys in the goodness, glad you had a great day in stellar conditions.
Most wonderful. Thanks for the TR :).
Bomber first post and pics ! What a string of days at Heliotrope.! Was anybody up all 3 days?
We were up there on sunday . Very icey hike and drive on way out after excellent skiing .
There was even someone there who has a car just like Scotsman. Chuck was that your suby I parked next to near the restrooms? Everyone was a having a good time including that damn dog that chased me all the way down ,I could feel him nipping at my tails and poles !   :)

Hi Shespiste! It was great to run into more tele'ers out on Ptarmigan Ridge. It really was a great day! Looking forward to more turns as the winter gets cranked up. We'll post our photos of the day later tonight.

Iluka - we saw your tracks continuing out past where we stopped. Looks like y'all nailed it with the longer runs - nice work.

Dale
Sounds more like Mad  Dog is back into telling jokes! :D
Sweet!  Glad he got his fly-control back in time for the cold weather.  And great to see a Mad Dog TR too :)
It was great to run into you on the trek out.  We found some lonely powder on the far reaches of the glacier.
Glad to see things turning white down south.
Nice trip Scott!

Bet you coulda made it to the trailhead if you had the westfalia!
PaulPalf and myself were out there as well... we got all the way out to the basin below the north side of the Pinnacle and found some great skiing with much longer runs available than off Ptarmigan Ridge at points closer in to Table Mountain. Completely untracked until our arrival. The basin is starting to fill in nicely. The coverage on any ridge features running through the basin was still too thin with many rocks lurking above or just under the surface but the draws and chutes in between were...
^^^^ saw your tracks out there.. Nice lines away from the crowds. Like you I spent a nice day up there with my son.........and PNWBit( Banned)
Here are some more photos:

1. The view south to Sloan et al.
2. The south end of the Sisters range, with the Olympics behind
3.  Booting up where the Talum steepens about 8100'
Ditto for today.  My teenage daughter provided the motivation today.  She really wanted to ride her board in some powder.    Except for breaking a chain link and corking the road on the last uphill (sorry to those behind) for awhile the day was exceptional.  Lots of people out today.  Thought I was on Shuksan arm.  We snuck out Grouse Creek and had great turns all the way down to the boulder field on untracked slopes.  Lovely day in the hills with my kid.
Nice video. What a great day! Really didn't expect it to be as good as it was. Blue sky, temps were perfect, snow stayed light. Pretty amazing for the first day of the season. There was a bit of a crust below the powder but it never really seemed to affect the turns. And Heliotrope was starting to look like sidecountry by the end of the day, but still it wasn't hard to find untracked turns.

The hike out in ski boots sucked of course. We need more snow so I can ski to the car...
Silas -- wow, that is fantastic!!!  I think you're going to need fatter skis if this keeps up though.

We got about 1/2" of snow at the house last night.  Skied last week (Oct. turns!) after waiting 3 weeks for my broken toe to heal ... it was a little painful, but it works.

Enjoy the snow.  Lucky!
Also had the pleasure of partaking in some excellence yesterday. Stoke all around.

A photo thanks to kevino of Elliot and me, enjoying the goods:
Well done.

I enjoy your use of the asterisks.
Nice going, I think Ill wait for more snow, it is a nasty bolder hop from the snow to the trail. It did not sound too scratchy.  Looks like the white ribbon of death is forming up nicely at Mission.

Thanks for sharing. I think we parked behind you guys in the Volvo...
Still miles of smiles up there today (Saturday).  Around 30 people or so, a smaller crowd than anticipated.
It sure was an awesome day up there!  Just had to be mindful of the boiler plate (ish) under the fluff....but skiing utah blower in california weather sure does not get much better!

Here's the rest of my  pictures!
Cold temps and powder made it hard to focus on shooting video but here's a quick clip that hopefully communicates a taste of the day: click the mouse right here

Skinning from the car, it took a solid 5 hours to get to the summit. Being able to ski all the way to hannegan camp and skinning out the last mile or so were a huge bonus on the way out!
how long is the round trip for Ruth?
Loving the mid run powder chuckle in the video
Way to grind it out.  My daughter and I skied Bachelor lift-served on the Forth of July.  Amazing amount of snow last year - and no Spring / Summer...

Cheers.

Thanks Scott.  Definitely felt good to ski some pow again.

Here's link to all the photos I took yesterday.
Well earned turns!

Thanks for the timely report.
Stoked to see you back on your feet man!

Awesome looking day.
That looks awesome.
How things have changed up there in just a week or so. Nice pics and nice choice. You earned some amazing goods.

There's a snaffelhound chasing you in that second picture.  Looks like a good day.

That's our guide!

Maybe it settled a little or my visual ruler is off :)
Here are a few pictures.  Didn't take any during the ski
Yes, it was good to get out!  I'm glad you took a picture of the axe-boarding for posterity....I was not about to stop to get out my camera!  In those conditions, the Talum would make a much better ice climb than ski.  I will try and post up a few more pics tonight....
Thanks for posting Eric. Lets get out again soon guys! Maybe next time when can use the non- business end of our Whippets....
More pictures:

4) Jason “axe-boarding” down around 8,300 ft
Thanks for the post Robie, next best thing to actually being there with you in one of my favorite places!
Hope to see you at the NWAC Snowbash tonight Scott.
I want to ask you some questions about this area.
That looks great!  Nice one.
