Thanks for this report....It made me reschedule my life..
Bahahah! I'm gonna have to use that as my signature...
Nice work, team!
Telemack: Yep, 168 months. As my son says, "It sounds longer and more cool that way!" I love that area, and spent many good days up there. It's only 2.75 hours from Edmonds...
A Prost to the often overlooked virtues of a late in the day start! I've had four different trips like that out of Paradise this year, and 3 out of 4 I was pretty convinced that I had better snow and a more memorable experience playing chicken with the sunset versus having started at "normal" time and letting daylight (and twilight, and the last possible light) go to waste.
Thanks for this report....It made me reschedule my life.. for a Summit ski YESTERDAY...October 18...
Eduardo,
Nice video. A few of those shots are of our group. Man, what a great day. Hopefully there will be more of the same soon.
I was just up on Shuksan yesterday and the snow was still good on the north aspects. Everything facing the sun was cooked but the snow in the shade was perfect. Unfortunately I was climbing and didn't have my skis with me.

Aw, man. The office was _way_ more fun than that! :).

There was one big crevasse, in the usual spot climbers right of and a bit below the cliff, in the bowl between the cliff and the wind lip. We stayed entirely out of the bowl because there are always crevasses there, and even though we could not see any others, they sure were there last year and presumably they are lurking even if they got a good filling in last winter.
Congratulations Greg!! :)
Way to go on the 14 years. 168 months, right? 8)
nice catch crew, way to culminate her / Colemanator / culminator
Rad!
I feel extremely lucky to have recently moved to the great NW from Utah.

Nice video Jeff!
I was shooting indiscriminately at people on Thursday. I'm pretty sure I have you guys on video in a couple scenes.

Great day to be in the mountains, sorry we missed out on the fun.
Hopefully we can make it next year. :D

Happy birthday, Ben; I love you way homo. Must have just touched myself in a sensitive place after cutting a habanero for the curry.
deeeeee-luxe! way to catch it you guys.
Although I don't contribute much to TAY and although I haven't tayed even once in my whole life I would like to defend Amar. I moved to the PNW a few years ago and Amar's website (and also TAY) have been valuable sources of information.
While everyone has to make their decisions based on the actual conditions encountered on the trip, erroneous information read in a TR may still cloud one's judgement. I fully agree with Amar that everyone should try their bestto put corr...

@Gregg, please stop talking about freinds on your flanks...it's a disturbing image.
@ Ryan, nice style, though you don't look hungover at all. I had a tough hike of close to four miles, round trip on Sunday. My training is intense.

Yes Jessie - I have always managed to have a very good time on my namesake route. Us Coleman's tend to deliver solid results... 8)
Yesterday 10/16, PNWBrit( banned) and I went up to Camp Muir. At about 9800 elevation, during the never ending final slog to Muir, I said to PNWBrit..... "we can turn around here if you want to.... I won't tell Amar, if you won't !!!" hahahah.
Saturday was an exquisite fall day. Nice to look across the water on my long ride and see Baker in a fresh mantle of snow with many of my friends on her flanks.

Too busy [...] taking nude photos, I guess.
Glad you guys found something worthwhile to occupy your time. It's unfortunate we didn't all converge upon the summit to take part in birthday-suit festivities.
Coleman reports on his Coleman-on-Coleman experience= always excellent.
re crevasse & slide, glad you guys had fun and made it out safely.

Nicely done Ryan and Jessie! That is my favorite side of the mountain. Glad you had a great trip and superb weather to boot.
Steph: I concur that this trip cannot be done justice for me via words, though if any could come close, Ryan's impeccable report would be the obvious candidate!
Would have been great to have gotten some shots of him skiing down in the sunset, making perfect hop turns and then milking the pow lower down: orange pants, blue jacket, orange hat, and gorgeous sunset... all on a backdrop of white snow, glacial blues, blue mountains in the distance. I feel very fortunate for having had...

Beautiful weather, beautiful pictures, and beautiful people!
Jessie, The text messages didn't do this trip justice :-)
Well done you two!

Way to style it you two! Not leave the City until 5 am and ski the Park in Oct is pretty smooth.
Late morning skinning on the snowfield below the Flett glacier (nice sheen and zero ski penetration indicative of firm conditions).

what a great trip!!!!!
haven't seen snow like that since April
great day with clear skies, sparkling snow, excellent views
great company!! so many interesting people in the group. TAY never fails to deliver when I'm looking for partners
haven't had such a fun ski trip in a while. Thanks to everyone for making it so fun.
I'll try to post pics when i get a chance (great pics Chris!!!)

Congratulations Amar. Your trip reports are always inspiring and informative. Thank you very much to the contributions that you continue to make to our sport.
Way to go team! Beautiful day up there yesterday too, but Amar's wind speed meter would have read 10fold, it was clear, cold, and windy - like 'lets get outta here NOW windy'.
"near close encounter with a yawner of a crevasse" - when I saw those tracks yesterday I got the hibee jibees - that was so close. Really happy that the weight was on the inside ski of whoever that was. :)

Jessie and Ryan. Did not think to look down the Park for tracks yesterday. Good call and strong work. Windy and cold at summit yesterday at 13:30.
I second Amar & Hannah: way to crush it you two. Great summit pic; it looks like it was just a leisurely walk in the park for you guys. I don't see any fatigue on those faces, whatsoever. ;)
Some photos of our group:

Climbing the ridge above Coleman-Deming saddle near 9300 ft, just after we stopped skinning, with Colfax Peak behind.

Ben skins to the summit, with the late afternoon sun reflecting off Puget Sound.

Hell yeah! Such a cool route; I'm psyched for you both. Strong work, Jessie and Ryan!
Great work you two! I'm impressed.
We were on the summit from 4:15 until almost 5pm, and none of us ever walked all the way over to the edge to look down the Park Headwall. Too busy celebrating Ben's birthday and taking nude photos, I guess. Would have seen you for sure.

Awesome that you guys are skiing that already. Looks like a satisfying day in the mountains. First Park headwall mid-oct? Want.

Love this one -- hard to beat that valley for views:

Beautiful Post! I've been dreaming of Ruth Mountain for sometime now and the views look amazing. (sigh) Some day...
Nice pics - it looks beautiful up there! I'm jealous!
Nice! What a great birthday present Ben! 8)

Thank you for posting a reminder about the 2004 event. Every single year since then I think about that when considering early season enthusiasm.
