Went up on Saturday to ski the Muir snowfield.
The morning started out foggy and crunchy.
About 8K the weather cleared. The top 1000' from Camp Muir was a mix of melting crust and corn patches.
Patches of powder could be found in the next 1000'.

It turned out to be quite an amazing day. I feel bad for those who turned around in the morning clouds and fog. Despite the fog, there were still quite a few people up there and almost everyone was on skis. There’s decent coverage to pebble creek. The snowfield was hard-packed and wind- blown but the last 1000 ft or so softened up nicely in the afternoon sun.
As the day progressed, the clouds fully dissipated in the valley and we were treated to a beautiful Oct. sunset.

Beautiful - those late season sunsets are so good.

early season?
Nice TR and pics. What a treat of a day it was...a good pre-winter tuneup, earned views climbing out of the clouds and some very enjoyable turns.
