@carbonj: thanks for the historical tidbit! As you can probably imagine, there's a whole story behind the origin of that helmet.
@jasongriffith being retired certainly helps!
@kamtron: the benefits of being in the fishbowl! Look forward to seeing them.
@bigeo: this was our 2nd attempt at the Coleman - our previous experience was similar to yours.
@voldemort it certainly does!
Thanks Kyle, I had no idea about the Gold Creek thing. Just shared it with the local paragliding community as well, as it represents a pretty significant threat to Rampart, one of the best flying site...
Thanks Doug! Unfortunately Red Bull hasn't come knocking, although I did make $50 from skiing this year, so my childhood dream of becoming a pro skier was finally realized.
Nice work guys! Hope to see more TRs like this coming out of the Cascades. I'm not sure if hearing about the party atmosphere makes me want to ski it more ("now everyone and their grandmother has skie...
How many Little Debbies per hour would you recommend for this type of mission?
@lilb907 we can't just be scratching our way down these things now, can we?! Entry couloir was pretty mellow, it looked wide enough to make turns in all the photos I've seen as well. I think the crux...
@kamtron I'm not an ice climber and wouldn't have done this without a partner who could lead ice. The amount of ice climbing required on the route at present is pretty small and not too difficult, but...
@avajane I agree 100% with kamtron and have a suggestion for improving your experience here. Instead of using trip reports to tell you when & where to ski, why not try doing things the other way a...
The 50 Classic Culverts of North America
Who knew the Rampart paragliding launch was also the top of a ski run?!
Love the persistence. Congrats on getting one of the big fish, and doing it on your own terms!
Re: skiing from true summit, I won't say never but it's hard to imagine. The final 50-100' is basically a bunch of boulders stuck together on a steep slope that faces directly into prevailing winds.
@hedonaut, I found this report from Oyvind but it sounds like they left skis at the bottom of the W Face:

@hedonaut - thanks! Who doesn't love a good entrance exam?!
@ajscott - no shenanigans getting into Horseshoe Basin.
@kamtron - we could have easily dropped into the N Face from the summit, alt...
I made a video edit with footage from this trip, it's available at https://youtu.be/qgC9zlmeYTU
@Doug, I'm not sure if #7 is a requirement but it definitely shows dedication. Thanks for all your hospitality, it was awesome hanging out and skiing with you!
Rob, your innovative lighting skills definitely earned you the "Lumenation" screen name!

Nice work Nick & co. I remember passing underneath Four Brothers while hiking a section of the PCT a couple summers ago and thinking about how much fun it would be to ski back there. Just curious,...
@seawok: yes, there is a lot of water running all over the mountain in places it shouldn't be.
@kamtron: agreed, the NFNWR is looking much worse than when I skied it 2 years ago.
@kamtron we were thinking the same thing, but there is a much cleaner way through the lower Mowich that is not visible from the angle this photo was taken from.
@lilb907 agreed! On the way out I was thinking that if I want to top that I'll probably have to go to Alaska. I remember seeing your trip report last year and wishing I was up there too. That's an imp...
@Zap, the line is actually for towing my skis behind me while I'm booting, but perhaps you're onto something here. Given the number of posts I've seen by people whose gear seemed to mysteriously jump...
@james-little there is always a way. In this case the way involves lots of walking followed by lots of skinning. Or lots of waiting if you don't like walking and skinning.
@kjohnson is that the one that tops out on the ridge just lookers left of the summit block? I was looking at that on our way out, seems like a cool line.
@danthemtn-man it's a technique so cutting-edge that even the guides don't know about it! In all seriousness though, if you have holes in the tips of your skis give it a shot, you'll never want to mak...
