Yes it is such a cool run (Sandy hd.wall). I'm shooting for next weekend to do Leuthold's if it doesn't look like there is too much climber traffic...or any really (and of course great conditions permitting...).

We were one of the first parties to drive into the Climbers Bivouac during the first week of June, last year. I don't image that it will open any earlier this year. Of the 50+ people on the mountain, only a half dozen of us were skiers. It would have been nice to have the mountain to ourselves like your party. Great to see the photos with all the snow in the crater.

Great pics! Any difficulty parking on the side of the road at the junction? Any idea if they'll start plowing at least up to the snowpark? That would be County road at that point wouldn't it? Thanks, Boot
There was plenty of room (probably because it was a Thursday) but we heard it was worse on Wednesday. For some reason two school busses arrived and bl...

thanks Skierguitarist,
I took a long look at the Sandy Headwall yesterday, looks pretty rad. The skiers - left option looks like it's not currently in, same with the central option, to many rocks, and rime formations, that skiers right entrance looked like it goes. The weather the next few days looks like it sucks though. thanks for the tips!

Cheap beer...way to find the goods........
Sandy Headwall has your name written all over it too, I believe. Only up to 45 degrees (with a steeper skier's left start which I did not do... 50degre or more?......). Very aesthetic with a return route on Sandy Glacier, then up and on to the Reid and-- then 'lum' saddle...yada yada...
Good job on Leuth. and Reid Headwall.. Have not done either but maybe Leuthold's this year. Way to get after it!!!!!!!!!

Man, you're a busy boy... nice work! Love hearing your reports from the local spots. Good stuff.
Nice TR, thanks -- beautiful photos!
Those conditions look good! What a difference the PNW makes, Dan.
Glad your getting your stoke on over there, man.
A couple of us started about 10am and followed the bomber skin track to the summit. Saw the tracks dropping into the upper Crooked and it all looked great!! We headed back down to the Slot. Neither of us had been there before and we were overjoyed at the freshiez we saw!! 1600ft of sweet April powder!! Quick skin up to the notch and some mushy spring smoo down the Phantom!! Unbelievably hot on the skin up!! WOW I was taken back at the temps all of a sudd...
Nice job to both parties - way to get after it in a big snow year.
Geez - the exit to the slot is making it look more like something on the other side of the valley (served by the lifts).

Mokika and I did a similar tour on the 31st but we skied the entire crooked and then down the Thunder Creek drainage to about 3600’ and just toured back up. Hope you were able to find our skin track up thunder creek. We thought about going the way you guys went but we didn’t leave the car until 1pm. Sounds like a fun tour.
We got some more snow

then we got sun

Here are a couple of pics. You can see that Winter is still going strong in Canada eh?

Way to make use of another spectacular day,Ross. Maybe I did have enough in the tank to join you yesterday. The two bruised ribs from the "parking lot accident" would have made life unpleasant, though. Surely you must have got your fill at Whistler, with at least 7,000 vf of climbing and probably 70,000+ vf of downhill turns.
Sweet pics Tim! That looked like a great warm-up for your hut trip...have a good one up there...
Super nice. I wish I still lived in the Alps :-)
Nice trip -- thanks for responding to the post, Telemon. I have added links to more photos here. http://rossmac.smugmug.com/gallery/4646399_RFiLJ#274333632. I will have to get remedial instruction on how to put up thumbnails in the site.
Is this area in the Park? Or could we take dogs here?
Thanks for the TR iluka! Thanks also to you and Chris for all the trail breaking we shared in the whipped butter snow we had.
It was great to be out in the sunshine, even if we never quite got where we wanted to go. That side of the mountain is really impressive, and it was kinda fun to watch the sloughs running into Kautz Creek from the ridge as we played out our last route finding cards at 6k. The views were just awesome. Maybe it was all some kind of Zen counterpoint to the r...

Went up Tatoosh today as well and know we made the best call. Was a perfect day and the North facing slopes still held powder, even in the sun 8). Bluebird, warm, and great riding all the way down to Reflection Lk. Thanks to all who laid in the track the last couple of days; off trail still deep, esp. below the trees. The only crust was in the morning going up the Narada face and by afternoon had turned nice and soft. Fun, Fun, Fun ;D.
That's a link to some sick photos. Excellent work fellas...
Very high quality, high resolution write-up available here. Many very large photos.

Merci bien!!!! VERY COOL!!!!!!!!
Way to go again!!!!! Was actually thinking about that Mt during the latest snow event while skiing Tumalo Mt. and Mt. Bachelor....tons of fresh for sure. Skied the s.e. slope of Mt. Mcloughlin a few season back in lovely corn...what a cool mountain. I must say you really hit it with the pow....nice turns dude. Have been wondering about the access but it sounds like it was a reasonable ski in (harsh deal with the cop though...)
No Kyle, I forgot! CONDITIONS WERE EPIC!! In fact, that won word of the day...lol!
There's some videos here for anyone interested in seeing some of Kylie's and my tours...

Oooooo, that sounds luscious! Thanks for the invite. Where's the love? ::) After being on lock down for hi avy danger for so much of the winter, it's great to see so many people out harvesting the goods. Keep slayin' it, brother man! 8)
Actually, 1300 m.
Argentière is a ghost town now but les télés sont ouverts.
It snowed and blowed since then so you probably won't see our tracks.

Whoa, that looks like a beauty. I look forward to more pics!
Yeah - that one in particular shows why he gets published a LOT.
Cool pics! Like the snow over the head with the clear blue behind.
That second image gives new meaning to the term "tree skiing".
That first shot is a great one!
On Sunday, it was hard to believe it was late March and we were at Snoqualmie. Just remember - the snow always sucks at that low crummy pass! Don't waste your time. Drive to Paradise.

2 more pics by S. Matera for good measure...

It doesn't get any better in March!

Nice Lee! Keep the stoke flowing! Save some pow for us!
Nice work Dan! McLoughlin was definitely a memorable descent for me a few years back. Now you just need Jefferson off the top! ;)
Did you mention that conditions were epic
Thanks Jeff! She's quite a floozy, but we managed to finish quick! ;) Fortunately, she didn't feel like cuddling....that would have been disasterous! :D
