Frank (Fheimer) and I took a glorious trip to the Blackcomb backcountry on Tuesday. Following my bonking on the last skin track in the Musical Bumps on Monday, I decided not to try the Spearhead in two days. Frank persevered, and decided to set up camp for a couple nights and sample the goods. We look forward to an updated report when he gets back.
The snow quality was still excellent, especially on the north facing slopes on the Decker and Circle glaciers. It was getting hammered pretty hard, but there were far more lines than there were sliders.
After leaving Frank at the bottom of the Decker, I decided to pass on the south facing slop leading back to Body bag bowl and instead circled around Spearhead Glacier and the boot track back to Corona Bowl. Still great snow leading down to the Blackcomb.
Some would call this slackcountry, but with 3500 feet of climbing and around 8500 of downhill, I am not complaining! It is amazing what the Whistler locals have right at hand. Pictures of the trip can be found here. http://rossmac.smugmug.com/gallery/4646698_D6Goj#274358719
I still don't know how to post pictures on the site, but here is a try.

Way to make use of another spectacular day,Ross. Maybe I did have enough in the tank to join you yesterday. The two bruised ribs from the "parking lot accident" would have made life unpleasant, though. Surely you must have got your fill at Whistler, with at least 7,000 vf of climbing and probably 70,000+ vf of downhill turns.
