RossMac, fheimer and myself met in Whistler through TAY's "looking for partners" section. Even though we were complete strangers we had a very successful trip out to the Musical Bumps yesterday. After a warm up run off of Whistler's peak, we skied down to the Symphony Bowl and took the chair to the top of Piccolo. From there it is a quick ski down to a cat track which we hiked up to reach summit of Flute. We finally got to ski some powder as we dropped about 1,000' to the Oboe Creek drainage. We had to skin about the same amount of elevation gain to attain the top of Oboe. The drop down to the Singing Pass was a mixture of open hill and tight tree skiing.As we skinned up Cowboy Ridge the bluebirds were leaving us with filtered sunshine and hints that the conditions could get worse.
The drop down Cowboy Ridge was arguably my best turns of the year, even with exhausted old legs.(see last photo). We followed a poorly lay ed skin track up Oboe and skirted the cornices in falling snow to reach the Oboe Creek drainage. We had decided to take the Singing Pass trail home as we had missed the Symphony Express and I didn't have another 1,000' of climbing in my legs. It turned out to be a good decision as the trail, while exciting in places, wasn't too heinous.

Great skiing with you guys and thanks for the excellent introduction to the whistler backcountry. Managed another good day yesterday though you had to be a bit more thoughtful to find that awesome fluff after a windy night.
