telemack-
We dropped in (marked by the blue dot) just shy of the west summit:

Since we didn't get up high enough, we never had a view of Townsend. I bet it would be great skiing though, if it still holds enough snow. From what we saw out there, SSE slopes were still holding snow but due South and SSW slopes had mostly melted out. A few degrees of angle towards solar input definitely makes a big difference this time of year.<...
Amazing streak(s) Andy! Way to go
Thank you for the trip report + pics. Hoping to hit the same line next weekend
Nice one.  That line is listed as an ascent route for Iron Mountain in the Olympics climbing guide, but without snow it's all scree.
Did you summit either Buckhorn or Iron?
And did you get a look at Mount Townsend?  The SE slopes of that are good in the spring too.  I skied off the summit a few years ago by doing the kick-and glide across the summit grass for a bit....
Thanks for setting that booter! I was surprised to see that there had been enough wind transport on the WSG to cover the skin track and booter from the weekend. We were glad to see you coming out of the NF! Sounded like you had a good time. I bet that corn at the bottom was perfect.

Adding some photos from Dave.
Hey!
I was the one on the NF

Saw you guys poking around the top of the NE coulie! Glad to hear it was a good time!
Strong freakin legs! I could see from the bottom that that coulie you checked out goes!

Probably the Crawshaw couloir?  Do you see it here?

The couloir is on the Arm below Point 6146. The skier's left wall is overhung and water was dripping onto the couloir forming a layer of water ice. We suspected that there was another layer of water ice underneath the most recent...
Some ski photos:
1. Dave skiing the steep pitch on the Hanging Glacier above the NWC entrance. Pretty firm snow here.
2. Traversing into the NWC.
3. Looking down the top of the NWC. Nice wind-buffed powder here. My favorite part of the run.

We then skinned halfway up WSG and traversed the Arm scouting a wicked looking couloir, but couldn't quite green light the descent from above (I'm sure Lane will add a specific pic) - wondering if anyones knows about this option?

Probably the Crawshaw couloir?  Do you see it
Thanks for posting -looks very nice.  Need to get over there sometime soon.  cheers.
I can not imagine taking an extra lap towards the end of an 8.5k' day! You're a machine. Good luck in Japan, and thanks for all your posts here.

Nice to run into you! We (group of three) enjoyed a nice morning corn run on the slopes from the ridge that accesses the NF then headed up the White Salmon and enjoyed some suprinsingly good steep pow turns for the upper 2/3rds. Watch out on the early morning desents into the W/S drainage very hard to get an edge on the open slopes, the woods proved much better.

Nice, that looks fun. It also looks like you put in some grindage on your boot soles  ;D

Thanks! There is easy access to the S side of Bryant from Pineapple Basin via a thin couloir E of the summit. It's heavily corniced in the winter but would make a fun ski in the spring. We skied from the summit down the SW ridge and then traversed to Melakwa Lake. Started skiing at about 10:15am and it was still firm, but this could be a great little corn run if timed correctly. I think it's a worthwhile variation if doing the circumnavigation CW in the spring.
Hey thanks all!

ryanl, yes indeed, in my attempt at brevity I omitted the fact that we had discussed this line with Dan during our deliberations.  Re-reading your Distal TR was fun--your insights re: payoffs and probabilities warmed my financial risk/reward heart.  And yes, happy to score this during my 'spring break' of like four days.

Sorry to hear you found yourself on not-great snow, kmcb. This time of year certainly can be a crap-shoot--when...
Way to get the goods, señor! You had waaaay better snow than I had.
That run down to the lake is so awesome. I have only hit it much later season. Looks fun as a point to point

Day after skiing Shuksan, BEAST!!
Cool, Eric, that looks like solid Type I fun
This is the day after skiing Shuksan's North Face???!
Strong effort

Also, any skiing to be had off the Bryant summit?
My god that looks horrendous. Strong effort. At least now it'll be sweeter when you get it.
Been awhile since I got to lay claim to a first reply...stoked! Way to git ‘er baller. Glad you made the best of your break.

I'm a little disoriented- is that the line we contemplated while waivering about Distal?

Super cool line, congrats
That looks great, way to score it in acceptable conditions! Downhill skinning is a legit sport. Fine work, snow queens.
Cooler than a moose and twice as hairy!
Awesome!  Props for going deep to get that beautiful summit.
Thanks, Torrey took it. :-) That is actually Snowking.
Great picture.  What mountain is shown in the background?
With apologies to anybody who did, it wouldn't be right to get this one on the first try!

Nice trip! There is much less snow compared to the last year (04-26-2018):

Wow!! I'll bet the ski off the ridge was a lot less bony last year too.

Nice report. I am heading to Hidden Lake lookout tomorrow with 2 friends; been planning it all month. your report was perfectly timed.

Did you need crampons for the last bit up to the lookout?

thanks-

Have a blast! We brought crampons but didn't use them. I'd say with grippy skins you'll be totally fine.

Excellent report. Looks like an amazing couple of days.

Nice TR, that looks super fun. Did you perchance scope out how far was driveable down the Cascade River Road?

Unfortunately we did not (totally should have!!). I'd suspect you can make it to MP18 (where it appears the road is still closed?) but definitely not to the trailhead.

Twelve beers! You guys were slacking! Thanks for the nice video.

That was per person I should add-but yes, the snow took priority!
in winter it is continuous snow. later season it does eventually become untenable/unadvisable. I am sure I have better pics but here are a few from skiing that side. It basically dumps you at Illumination saddle for a good spot for a beer, some more turns, and easy cruising on the zigzag before deciding to traverse over to tline.

nice!

Can you elaborate more on skinning up vista ridge from meadow's lot? I have only ever heard negative things about any up-hill or BC travel around meadows, even on their margins they get all bent out of shape about seeing someone who hasn't paid for a lift ticket..
Conditions were probably better a couple weeks ago before the big warmup. We considered doing it then but decided against it. I wouldn't want to be in that cirque with a lot of unconsolidated snow around.
Nice report on a burly objective. I was wondering if anyone was going to attempt it with the low-elevation snow.  I guess this year you mighta gotten 'lanched trying to attempt it right after the snows.
We found one piece of pink flagging on the climber's left side of the valley - probably remnants of that climber's trail. It has been reclaimed by the brush.
