awesome! The low lines are so great. Wish I could just take work off and ski every low line you can see from town.
Wow beautiful tracks - must have been satisfying to look back!
hallelujah

As best I can tell that's the slope based on the location of the present day trailhead, the entrance to the old tunnel, and from looking at historical photos online. I'd guess the entire ridge and two connected bowls from PT 5360 to PT 5484 went during the slide. But I would love confirmation from someone who knows for certain.
Thanks everyone. Conditions are definitely great for the rare low elevation lines we've all been staring about imaging how fun it would be if it ever got enough snow! And the absurdity of skiing so low down in the prairie just makes it all the more fun.

If there's more snow this week, I'll be gunning for some more adventures in Yakima Canyon (there are some real tempting lines that could be in if it snows again, but they would require getting across the river not at Um...
I don't care to hear those things buzzing around but the shots are fantastic, thanks the post.  Amazing that it can follow you around for such a long time in the cold weather.
Looks like very sporty skiing,  thanks for the report seems like well off the beaten path.
Oh my gosh why to get it.  I am green with envy!  Talk about a rare set of figure 8's!! Sorry to gush, but you stole the apple! Thanks for the report, this is the year for rare ski lines.
Big snow coming to central or mountains through Tues...maybe you'll get 😂it too.best be ready!!!
I love it. I've been wanting to ski that for years. If I get the call I'll show up and drive. I'm not afraid of grinding some sharks! Not back in Wenatchee until Friday though...
My favorite type of skiing...what a hoot...thanks!

There seem to be lots of people who want to make rules for other people and make it their goal in life to spread/enforce those rules.  ::)
I'm taking pictures of my tracks and thinking that's cool and then you do this!
Jim,

I love the drone footage. I have skied there and know some of the trees you skied by. ;)
Thanks for the link John. I just finished reading the book, it was quite engaging. What a crazy storm that must have been, 19 feet in 6 days!

Anyone in the know care to enlighten me?  I'm trying to place the event on the map but I'm not sure I've got it right. Does the arrow on my map indicate the correct slope?

triangle to chute has long been called pie in the sky
Weird about the "fort" issue. Wondering about those snow ramps all over the place, too. Are they owned by the builders? Is there a responsibility to remove them after use? Normally, people digging snow pits are encouraged to fill them in so people don't ski into them.

I posted at TR on FB about 6 weeks ago of some skiing shots of Mt. Herman. Someone objected to my skin track. He said Hermans Saddle backcountry skin tracks had devolved over time. The implication was I wa...

Language Johnny. Don't you just love it...keys & phone, bitch!
That looks pretty nice from my desk. Wish I was out there on this sunny day!
Into the blue again
You may ask yourself, where does that highway lead to?
...bag with phone and car keys, or "phone" and "car keys"??
Thanks for noticing! I am hoping to inspire more from the OR region to post on here. There's a lot of great routes to be had, but hard to find current beta.
Thanks - yeah, that's  what I was  thinking  of. Have looked over at that chute from w/ in the  trees to looker's right. It  didn't look pretty on that  particular day.
I see what you mean
😋
Jim, Strainght down the vertical line between the obviously different tree-growth patterns.
The top triangle+chute is also known as the martini glass.
Don't tell anyone, or put it on the internet or anything!
Thanks for the report! They are rare from your region. Here come old flat top.
Is this the chute that comes down between the cliffs down into the open area that you  can get into  if you  follow the (brushy) road up from near Gold Lake? The open area that's bounded on  looker's right by some nice mature  forest (with hellacious xmas tree farm at the  bottom if you drop  too  far)? Just trying  to connect your  description with the terrain  a bit...
..yes, bag was miraculously perched at the chute entrance.

I think I need a clarify the conditions. It's really the worst I've ever skiied it, with a ~8' vertical drop at the bottom fo the chute with a rock in the center-top & blakc ice on the lip. The cute itself has some 6"snow in it but it's mostly dry-slid out & left an ice crust/ bed plane. I don't thiink a guy (or gal) could get into it from th ebottom up  without ice ax & boot cram...
This report makes me want to quest into the vortex myself some day, thanks
Did you get your bag back? That thing does flush like a toilet bowl. Sounds sporty right now. I booted up that last year in jeans. When I got to the trailhead I realized I left my snow pants at home. I guess its a vortex in a way.
Nice...sounds great...looks great😋
And we found decent turns even in the forest down  to 3500 or possibly a little  below. Not as nice as sheltered snow in the open but very fun nonetheless!
Wondering if we found your tracks today.  Two  skiers. Unclear where they ascended. The suncrust we found was not bad - didn't interfere with fun turns though it changed the  dynamic slightly. Mostly boot top penetration while skinning, though there was  a bit of extra  "sink" while stepping  forward and sometimes my tails would disappear deep into  the  snowpack. But trailbreaking wasn't heroic.  Just  work.
I'm guessing there are very few people who ski the road the whole way (from the car) and even fewer that attempt skiing the trail. I suppose you could ski some of the upper parts, but even half way down it would be a challenge. It is one thing to ski a couple inches of snow on the north side of a paved road, it is another thing to ski a very steep south facing trail.

A few pics for your viewing pleasure!
Based on my backyard I'm certain of it.
Mt. Walker is not exactly a fall-line tour.  Runcle and I did the road last winter in a cold snap and started with really icy walking carrying skis.  There was fresh snow up high same as for you, but only survival skiing on the descent.  I wonder if anyone has ever skied the hiking trail?  It would need coverage like this last week.

At least you can count on a nice bench or two while eating your sandwich and peering into the clouds!
That big snow has consolidated and is a good protective layer now. It's super fun to ski lowland stuff. I bet you can ski above your house in Wenatchee now!

Cool looking rock!!!

From the right angle it looks like Woodsy Owl.
Mend up there Mark!

Good winter here in Vermont, enough snow to survive the thaws.
Good & timely report, thanks Mr H
The hill next to campus with the firetower is Sehome Hill Arboretum. I suppose the hill itself must be (duh) Sehome Hill. I rode my mountain bike up there yesterday--6-8 inches heavy stuff, packed solid on the roadway but pretty traction-ish where only bootpacked. Hard work. Wished I was on skis, which are out of the question until after knee surgery.

Lookout Mountain is outside town, adjacent to Galbraith. If the OP really took a ten-year-old up there, that's one rugged kid. Th...
