This route was still very good today, Sunday 3/26. North side had excellent snow quality, untouched since the Friday evening dump. The bottom is a little more melted out than in the above report, but...
I don't think there was much direction to the fog. It was a very calm day overall, just some localized air movement near the ridges.
I just read more about fogbows here: https://atoptics.co.uk/d...
Here some current job postings for the park. These are for jobs starting in the spring, but I figure it gives us some idea of why winter staffing could be short.

Trip Reports
Making (and observing) tracks is one of the fun parts about skiing, right?
Trip Reports
Details.
Update: It was actually pretty good today. Got real corn on the Turtle and the main slope of the Van Trump Glacier down to 8000ft, at 1pm. And below that, it wasn't so bad, slower but not sticky, asid...
No friends at corn o'clock!
Thanks for the report, good corn has been scarce so far. Now feeling very lucky to have found one good day on this route in May. But also looking forward to the rest of this long season.
I think it's Buckner, Goode, and part of Logan, along the skyline. With some bits of the Eldorado Ice Cap peaks behind that.
Woah, that's a lot of tracks. But it looks like a fine time. Thanks for the report!
Thanks for posting. Very inspirational. (Like, I'm questioning my life choices now...)
Thanks for the comments, all. These shots were almost just a toss-off at the time of shooting, so I have been thinking all week about how I could go back to get an even better photo. (This one was 6 o...
And some normal photos.
You are a pioneer of local skiing. Nice work.
It was excellent on the 26th as well. Very satisfying day. Full length Russell descent (the top, where the cups turn into dirty bathtubs, was worth it for the views, if not the skiing), plus Flett hea...
Thanks filbo, was real nice to see the other side of things at White Pass.
And more.
Thanks Jake. That Cave Ridge approach is awfully scenic. Amazing to be out with the sun and views after all those other days (though with better snow) earlier in the season.
Yep, was real good on the 27th as well. Moderately limited visibility, but easy to find soft and smooth snow below tree line. Some creeks are still open (and Nisqually bridge route is still rocky), bu...
There is significant snow after about a half mile. And the open slope traverses above the creek are treacherous as usual, very firm snow surface in the morning. The big creek crossing is still well-br...
I need to sample some more, but yes. Sunny snow squiggle, Sunday Snoqualmie.
Later in the day, with colder temperatures, the snow quality improved significantly. However, the neighborhood wasn't as quiet anymore. I was surprised how many steep streets (even those under &q...
As of Thursday, the new snow is thinning fast. The main part of the Muir Snowfield down to 8200ft was still excellent skiing for its whole length, with more dodging of exposed old snow required toward...
And I'll report a bear on the Fryingpan. I surprised it once as I climbed over a rock on my way to the summit of Whitman Crest, and then after it had wandered off here and there for a while, it s...
Through another lens...
It's pretty fascinating over there in the Olympics. Plenty of unknown trips tucked away around each corner. But I can see why it's not hugely attractive to most skiers. Still, Appleton shoul...
Emmons from the prow: big photoA party of two skied up to Camp Schurman yesterday to go for the Emmons route today. And I came across another group of two climbers along the trail on my way down, not...
Excellent. We were also very happy to find very similar conditions in the Crystal backcountry yesterday.
Photos.
Here's the text Jake was unable to post last week. Plus some more photos below.author=Jake the Brit]Snow is still continuous from the Cascade Pass lot up to Cache col, as long as you’re prepared...
