I'm sure everybody knows this, but it seems wrong to have so few reports. The corn cycle is definitely up and running in Washington and looks like it will continue. The surface is totally smooth with good overnight freeze above treeline up to at least 9500ft in the Van Trump area. There is a thin upper layer that did release in natural solar slabs in recent days -- I observed these past slides in several spots around 6500-7500ft. So start early, especially if you want that quarter-inch corn that I have been hearing about.
how's the approach up the comet falls trail (long enough of a dry hike to justify sneakers)?  how's the creek crossing just before comet falls?  thanks in advance for the info - probably heading up that way soon.

There is significant snow after about a half mile. And the open slope traverses above the creek are treacherous as usual, very firm snow surface in the morning. The big creek crossing is still well-bridged by snow.
