Paradise, excellent corn
I'm going to pretend it's 2016ish and just post a quick report from a relatively mundane (though unusually satisfying) tour...
It was not difficult to find excellent corn between 6000 and 8000ft in the Paradise area yesterday. The sun did its work quickly, but temps stayed pretty cool, so nothing oversoftened, for good climbing and skiing. I hit three of my favorite descents. 11am on the east side of Cowlitz Rocks ... a few turns on semi-breakable crust, then perfect corn the rest of the way. 1pm on the Paradise Glacier ... less smooth above 8000ft, then perfect corn the rest of the way down. 3pm in the Nisqually chutes ... just slightly overcooked (if you're a shallow corn connoisseur), but still without sluff issues or any dragginess. I assume the snowfield was ok but not particularly smooth.
Very glad the road is open all days and all hours now.
Happy skiing!
