Mission got another freak clockwise blob dump yesterday and overnight and I woke up to over a foot of snow at my house on Thanksgiving morning. The Ridge has an early season uphill policy that allows skiing on most of the hill as long as you go the long way around to access it. We did, and were rewarded with a second round of pre-season goodness that rivals any mid-winter storm for both depth and quality. I measured 22 inches in the parking lot and over 30 inches at the top of chair four. This storm fell on dry ground, except for a few remnant patches from the September 29 storm (which was even better than this one). Our poles hit ground on each step, but our skis were really pretty safe as long as we were on manicured ski runs. Off piste is another story. Not safe at all. Mission opens tomorrow, so the early season uphill policy will end and what we did today won't be allowed tomorrow. I think unfortunately if you missed today, you missed the storm.
Stay out of the red. Orange is our strategy.
(Even staying out of the red won't keep you safe from grumpy ski area employees. We got chewed out three times at various places on the mountain).
No joke. This is how good it was:
We skied right to the car!

Mike - I am very impressed so far with the number of big dumps we seem to get around North Central Washington! I just nailed a beautiful powder morning at Blewett Pass as well...

Yeah, the Wenatchee Mountains have been the focal point for 3 big storms over the last year. I wonder if this is the new norm? It would be really great to get a handful of super big dumps every year.
WaaaaH!Waaaaah!!! BooF******Hoo! I hate traveling for Thanksgiving! I'm so jealous it looks marvelous! Thanks for the post Mike!!
