I wondered who left that permit pinned to the shingle :) Thanks for the report!
Definitely fun times Mack! Your buddy Yukon Jack was much nicer to me on this trip than the last time he and I spent some time together............ ;)
Here are some pictures, I will post some additional ones on Picasa soon.
1. Mack on the summit of Obstruction Peak
2. Mack dropping a knee
3. Jeff on our last run

Good report. Sorry I had to bail on it just before reaching Chinook. :(

Nice! That sounds fun. How far from the road to your camp? And once you were at the camp were you able to keep the skins on the whole time for your different climbs? Thanks! Hopefully I make it out there next week!

It was a great day and good times had by all. Sorry for the late picture post, I forgot my camera in Mack's car!
Clearly there will be snow for a little while in the Tatoosh...

Mike, I did not watch your video until today, you just keep making them better.

Quite the opposite. Here I am after a little bit of spinach ;)
Nice................ Popeye would be proud of you. ;)
You might want to consider growing your hair out, getting some flashy duds and taking your show on the road....... It seems to have worked for this guy............

Very cool Mike.
I saw that bowl four line in another tr.
Nice to see it from the top down. (shot from the lower lot fom cascadian warrior I think.). Good season for you guys over there.
We've been biking.

I'm going to declare the low hanging fruit at Mission is officially gone, I hiked/skinned to the top today, yes in the rain, and the skiing was fine, but it is hard (maybe impossible now) to ski off the top and get 1000 vert. without taking off your skis once or twice. I hate to see the easy turns gone, maybe I need to get my bike out, and at least see if the tires will hold air.
Yep, I was up on the 3rd and felt the same way. As much as I love the snow I decided it was time to switch to summer mode. Hell, I even took the ski racks off my car, just to make it official.

Way to get after it Zap!
Also pretty amazing to see how much snow is still up there. How much longer do you think that tour will be covered top to bottom?

Welcome to TAY, nestorv,
Glad you had a successful tour out of Paradise.

cute dog too :)
Thanks, Marcus. He's a good partner.
Saw your tracks. Looks like you came down to the lower Bolam and crossed our tracks. Awesome area, eh?!
Nice video!

...officially gone...
always hard to say good-bye to a good season. I'm not giving up yet though. Come October we'll be thinking 500 foot runs are something special, so I'll see you on Windy Ridge for some shorties over the next couple weeks!
Vince, nice to see you again, I enjoyed your pictures as well..
so a midnight departure is "leaving in the dark" and 4 hours of treacherous, exposed bushwhacking is "a bit of an exit fee"? scott my friend, you are a master of understatement! or maybe i've still got a ways to go before i can call myself a true cascadian snowboarder. either way, it sure is fun to see how many superlatives and unprecedented events can be packed into a single tour.
a good tour starts with a good bbq.

Cool trip in a neat (and rugged) area--am familiar with those fees you paid!
Solid! Thanks for the invite as well.
Great job working through the set backs Zap, I think my son and I skied past your group on your way up the groomed part of Lower I. Still solid coverage top to bottom, though the chair one side below the gunmount has some spots opening up.

Nice one Scott! Don't tell me you have a hut up there too! Any plans for heli access?

That's a pretty cool mod you've got; always fun to see a science project.
not quite a mod, there are lots of dynasplitters out there and manufactured plates to switch out between soft and hard boots.
the boiling water trick should work well, id imagine there are plenty of professional bootfitters out there near you too.
I was up there too solo, later in day such that by time I summited after a presummit lap (4PM) everyone else was already gone.
I didn't think the Headlight Basin snow was funky, I thought it was excellent. Maybe a difference in timing of warmup. Much smoother surface than in SE bowl, and less tracks.
Rather than exit via SE bowl I decided to drop into Headlight again and exit via Ingalls Pass, to hit the slopes to the E that looked tempting from a distance and appeared to get you...

i think it's funny that the most notable aspect of this TR was that i put dynafit bindings on a splitboard.
not getting eaten by the bear was a much more memorable aspect from my perspective!
but it sounds like i may be able to heat mold the boot shell to better fit my foot, so i might not have to write this off as a very expensive failed experiment. it would have been...

Some of those snomo tracks went in on Saturday. No evidence of them in the morning, mucho evidence in the afternoon.
Busy day on Fortune Peak on Sunday. We were surprised to be able to ski all the way down to the Esmeralda trail via the SE basin. Just barely though, and the amount of walking will increase rapidly.
Based on tracks across mud, dirt, meadow and snow, it appeared to me that snowmobiles had run the Esmeralda trail within the past week. (Two weeks at most.) I think they should stop riding up there when any part of the trail is bare. Just sayin'.

Glad you finally got down that on your skiboard!
Hah! I came within a few seconds of heading there yesterday before ending up further east. That would have been fun to run into you. Great trip Scott. I'm surprised that you can still across Blanca lake
Sorry to miss out on it with you guys, next time.
That was where I was thinking of going. Nice mind read.
I did have another run like that in mind almost as long ski that is much closer in but medium walk out and a little tighter ski in the main area.
Funny you called to have me pick you up! There are two TH of that trail to exit, one South and one North.

Looking good, Zap! That area is steepish, too - good job climbing AND skiing it.
Nice report. Did the Birthday Tour today with Carter, Matt and Kevin. Beautiful views, mixed snow. A few pictures. http://rossmac.smugmug.com/Skiing/Birthday-Tour-June-2012/23346555_fFggWt#!i=1884651042&k=scHcTZT
Very informative: a great way to finesse the two-car issue. Wish I could follow your track tomorrow, dogs and all (I have two, too). N
you two sure get out and ski a lot! thanks for report and vid/pics.
& thanks for letting me tag along to pilchuck the other day. good times.

Nice, I have been making regular laps on bowl 4 myself, really sorry to see the snow go on the lower mountain, but I'm with you, the skiing on the upper reaches of the mountain are still great. Went to Washington pass yesterday, drizzled on us, and the snow was soft, but had a good time
Vince, nice to run into you again, I had a look at your picture, there are some I really enjoy. Hope you had a good tour. We skied spire gully, and it was good, but we were just a little late, and it was a little mushy.

Also note -- I investigated the Cold Creek road (9070) and found it blocked by a snow drift just past the MIll Creek bridge at 2400ft. I think 4wd pickup truck with 30 inch tires could probably power through, but I didn't even try with my dinky little Honda CRV.
You won't make it much past that
