Very cool Lowell.
Especially like the "Crossing Rusk Glacier" photo.
Any idea how many years of snow accumulation are represented in that cross section of glacier? Is the Mt. St. Helens eruption represented in one of the dark layers?
Really interesting to see how the glacier rides over the rock bump on the left. The ice seems to be broken up a bit uphill from the bump, and well consolidated downhill. Counterintuitive to my thinking. But maybe I am readi...

Thanks! does anybody know a good way to get rid of the black blip thats in every picture? I've tried cleaning (rubbing with a shirt) the lens but it didn't make a difference
Awesome! I especially like the t-shirt and 3-pinners (or at least what appears to be 3 pinners).

I have after writing the trip report learned of an accident on the Coleman Headwall on Friday. My heartfelt condolences to the people touched by this terrible accident.
Now wondering what could/should have been said that might have altered their plans-
condolences to the family.
Great TR Oyvind. You definitely hit the window on Friday. I'm on my way to the N. twin right now. I gotta get out! And probably get wet. Must get some of that meditation/cleansing your talking about :). Hopefully see you out there soon. Thanks again for the great class!

Don Brooks and I had a fun time watching you come down the "crater fork" of the Boulder. In fact, you inspired us to go take the Boulder Gl. rt next wk-end!
Fun views of you and everyone else on the S side from Sherman Pk.
Don probably told you we were a pty of 6 pushing 11hrs car to car. A long put very reqarding day. The rest of our pty kicked up the Roman wall arround noon but it was nice and skiiable for thier descent. No suncups to spe...

saw you guys getting out of the car that saturday and was wondering were you were heading - nice trip - on the list......maybe with a different exit ;-)
Nicely done, with 10 out of 10 for originality in destination selection.
its not an slr its a fuji xp 100. I don't know why I haven't hit it yet, that's usually my go to solution with electronics, I'll give it a shot.

What kind of camera? Is it a DSLR? If so that is dirt on your sensor and need to clean your sensor.
If you use picassa or similar post process, you can use the retouch and blend with adjacent area. That is what I do when a bunch of pics get rain or snow spots.

Nice father's day tour Silas, and just a touch of pink. :)
The road is drivable to continuous snow ~0.35 miles from Windy Pass, with a few drifts a hundred yards or so below that should be passable to most cars after today's traffic in and out. Got a break in the weather between 10-2pm without any rain and pretty warm temps radiating through the lingering fog. The poor visibility on the upper slopes never really broke up and the snow was a little slow. Found sightly better...

since i asked...conditions are indeed continuous from the end of lot 4. couple thin parts on the return track, but easily managable. once you get past trashcan there is still loooots of snow. The snowbridge to pineapple pass is still in good shape but you never know when its going to change. The tooth of course is dry and fun as always.
- it was so good on the North aspect, (350 vert). due to the prior precip. But, it didn't quite ski like last wks - corn pow. ! Peg (great Steely Dan song)
And, yaa I check to see the park's updates. I skied the south face/ parking area Wed and Thur. the face melts into 3 chutes. the one in the middle, was the only line still in tact. The trail crew saw me both times, and fortunately didnt kick me off. The website is more clear than than the TH information board. It sounds like...

Craig, thanks for the rpt - Shralpie &, Shasta rangers reported a ft. of snow from the previous wk's storm.
Sweet.
Looks like you're gonna be ready for the Sourdough Chutes in a couple of weeks :)

Ron, the setup is awesome and it would be ridiculous of me to ask for money back. Maybe i'm confused about the mechanism and there is a way for me to switch from ski mode to downhill mode that i haven't figured out. either way touring in those boots is way more comfy than in my forward leaning downhill boots!

But I gotta tell ya, Tim, the boots are vintage Dynafits, just like the bindings. And the ski/tour levers worked when I sold them to Andrew... but the plastic cover on one of the lock pins was broken off. Nonetheless, if he wants his money back I'll take them back -- it looks to me like Andrew might have taught them skis some new tricks that I might pick up, if I got on 'e...
Welcome to our back yard. Glad you could us. Drop in any time.
We like Mt Hood as well.
And thanks for that great photo of Mt Adams and the Eastern Tatoosh. :)

That's a Rockin' video, Snow Troopers. Nice work.
My old exploders must have been blown away being rode by such an adept jockey as Andrew. The never had so much action in all the years that I owned them.

I did a lap around Table Mtn. 6/15. Slight breeze kept the snow relatively firm even as the sun poured in. Went up to Herman Saddle and looked at that amazing fracture pictured above. The slab displaced the ice in the lake enough to open large parts of the lake along the shoreline. I went down and checked out the debris and continued around the loop.
Nice tracks down the Pork Glacier on Baker by some crew!

Nice. I thought about that area as well today, but chickened out (I was afraid of too much road skiing). Sounds like you got a nice combination for some nice skiing and great views. Good choice.
Don't take your mommy skiing with the "Snake"

Wow, looks great! And thanks for all the details -- definitely not a frequently skied (or at least posted-about) volcano.
Any hunch as to whether those bowls will still be good at the end of the month?

John is somewhat underselling how unbelievable the descent was. the NE bowl was velvety corn all the way down. No hardpack, no crust, no runnels, no suncups. Four mile lake campground is a spectacular place to base from. Just don't bring the minivan. Nice breezes off the water keep the bugs at bay. No other skiers on the mountain; just two hikers postholing down....
Dave.
Dave.
Thanks BobbyF - was great to get up there and poke around at least....will be there for next trip.

A quick video of an outing on monday. Plenty of good coverage left. We should be skinning from the top lot for at least a few more weeks.
Yes, absolutely. It was spectacular and splendid. I forgot to post a reference to the pics. Here they are: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rossbl/sets/72157630122878478/
Nice TR Don. I tried goin up there a couple weeks ago but the highway was closed for ski to sea. Was hoping to go somewhere near there this weekend but it looks like rain again :(
Did you actually go there today on June 14 and ski Lassen Peak?? Because according to the NPS website, Lassen Peak is now closed to all travel (including over the snow travel) as of June 13, except for the first 1.3 miles of trail:

Robie,
Thanks for pointing out the error. An extra space in the URL link was causing the problem. 'tis fixed.
If I decide to head for the Cascades to extend my season (unlikely) it'll be more than a full car, more like a full van just to make the cost of petrol reasonable. But you need not worry - it's wind season down here now. ;)
