I'm impressed.

Lot of "you-fall-you-die" terrain in those parts,
as more than one has discovered the hard way.

Congratulations for a nicely executed ski mountaineering expedition.
Also nicely photographed.

Too bad about the long walk out.
That might have taken a bit of the edge off of my trip completion high.
Exceptional piece of work! Thanks for sharing and great photo's too.
Wow what a trip!!Spectacular!!

Awesome! I love the twins
I got my first idea for the tour from your trip report. Thanks!
Thanks for the TR! Good recon mission. IMO, the Western Cabinets are a little hard to access, unless you hit the western flanks; i.e. Scotchman, Bee Top, etc. Looks like you got a variation of that! I have also reconned that area some, but end up elsewhere, as it is a pain. Further south, in the main Cabinets, the Rock Creek area has some good stuff: i.e. Chicago/St Paul, Engle, etc. Should be still somewhat ripe for the pickins'. I am going up to do the Selkirk Crest this weekend...Twin Pe...

Sweet trip report! Thanks! I am definitely going to have to investigate that route/area for further exploration skiing of Rainier. Any idea on the pitch of the finger (looks pretty damn steep)? Also, any other clutch/crux parts besides the gaping crevasse and serac garden that you mentioned? Thanks!

the steepest past of the finger, if you stay skiers far right,...
We've climbed the Lynch and down the scramble route before (not skiing) in maybe 12 hours.  Hard to remember.  This is not a super human day trip.  We were not that fast and took breaks (plus that side trip).  Usually Wood figures the stats from his gps--I'll post if I get them.
Man... That is a crazy long day! I usually get delusional after 8 or 10 hours. Glad to see you got some nice weather windows. How long do you think it would have taken if you would have just done Daniel?

Love the video Mike!  Walker?  Enchantments looked like fun as well.
hey, Troop, sweet vid.   your Jamaican swing works fine with the N. Idaho glide...

don't know where you are, but council mtn, sw of mccall, should grant some fine turns right now.  won't be over there for couple of weeks yet, but the backside (east aspect) will be putting out..   check it out, if you can.    d

Way to get it guys before the lower hill is all cupped out!

About what elevation was the large crevasse that you mention?

i'd say somewhere around 13k ish... couldn't really see it until we were right under it.
Mike,
Thanks for letting us help you guys with that "Makers" :)
memorable trip - what a great route! what great company! Snoqualmie Pickets indeed... definitely a solstice well spent. Still amazed we pulled it off so smoothly, spur of the moment as it was. This trip covered a lot of ground in two days. wow!  beautiful country, so much left to ski out there...

Mount Thomson's north couloir would not have been possible without an earlier exploratory excursion with Rob--it was a shared obsession (would it go?). Wish he could have been there. We&...
Nice skiing up there Silas. Thanks for bringing some motivation to ski that back side. Until you all arrived Frank had convinced me it would be best just to hang out on the ridge and drink maker's.

Cold springs? Road open?

The road was drivable to Morrison Creek.
Could be a few weeks until Cold springs depending on weather.

Words and more of Sam's sick pic's here for those of you who are "into that kind of thing" . . .

Wow! Nice work...stepping out into space on a couple of those shots! As one of those who is "in to those type of things!" Thanks!
Nice! This shot definitely is working..
please tell this is going to work
Thanks for sharing.  I really respect the human-powered purest approach to approaching.  Taking steps toward that goal myself.  Way to go, man!

OMG that pack looks like it weigh 100 lbs lol.

Yes, pretty close...We all were flirting with at least 60-80 lb packs for that slog!
Hahahahaha! Pete A, that is some funny sh*t!!! Was expecting the fax machine :)  Beat that damn horse!
Dang, I'm kicking myself for not snooping down below the patch of trees to find the good snow patch on the west run Sunday morning.  Motivation was pretty low after getting rained on for 85% of the skin up though...
I got a $100 on Mt. Adams :)
Everybody kept tellin that horse not to poach their line.  >:(
Shall we start placing bets on the location of post 1000 from Silas?
Silas' sequential Silver slaying season still strong!

Well one good thing about the snow being gone..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................NO SNOWMOBILES raping the MTN!!!!!!

just sayin.

We should have been there.  Decided instead to do an urban birding run.  Might get up there after work this week.
Nice talking with you guys on top.  What a glorious day with equally good turns. The next day was also nice, but the snow was not as good on Frying Pan.  Shortly after coming down Meany Crest we saw one of the helicopters circling Emmons.  Very sad.   Weather took a turn for the worse on day three during our attempt of Double Peak/Chimneys. We aborted due to steady rain and low visibility.  We found a little redemption on day 4 on Naches.  I think you guys managed to hit the best weather of the...
As a new member to TAY and splitboarding/BC riding in general, just wanted to say it's threads/pics like this that really inspire.  Thanks for sharing.
I'm new to this site so bear with me on the pics....
Sweet.
Looked like a perfectly executed trip.
Well done.
Nic pics and viddy.
Great trip y'all. Nice to see you in this neck of the woods Louie!
Nice pics... That first pano looks like a wall hanger. Last time I was down there I drove all the way up and couldn't even see the lake!(forest fire). Cool place though.
  Cheers!
Awesome report and great photos - thanks for putting the TR together.
Impressive work!  Looks like a nice way to spend a few days for sure.  Thanks for the pictures...
What a grand idea!  Thanks for the report.  I liked this over the traditional sisters link up.  What amazing weather and views!  I'm bookmarking this one for future reference.  Thanks again.
Nice trip, and great trip report, seems like you run into TAY'ers in the nicest places.
Nash dawg and my son agree, Sunday sublime slushified slopes skied superbly.

Nice to see you and the rest if the crew, Silas.

Beautiful.  When I first started reading the TR about planning how to get to the trailhead, I was thinking it was driving around some construction or something, sheesh.  :)  That's really inspiring, though, and sounds like a great trip.  I bet some of the looks you get on the city bus are pretty funny when you are loading your bike, skis, and gear on board?
