2 or 3 weeks later, mofo's were filing TR's of knee deep pow and alpine starts in the same locale

you mean this?     ;D  ;D  ;D  hopefully this seasons's first bluebird powder day isn't far off.
Foud out that the secret Dog Biscuit donor was Mad_Dog and RonJ. Thanks guys! Chugie says woof woof. It was spectacular with the fall foiliage. Did you see the bear?
Ron and I were up there too :-), decided to save the torture points for another time and hit the Paradise Patch for our ski.  Vis wasn't so good and the skiing was ok, but the hike was great, the new dusting of snow was encouraging and the beautiful fall foliage was certainly spectacular :-).  Hope you enjoyed ALL your biscuits Scottie ;-).
I hope you refrained from eating Chugie's biscuit on the way home....
Nice!!

Funny, but I had identical plans!! Grab the board and dog and see what I get....thought the forecast looked promising, and was tempted to hit the same spot. Bailed on my plans at the last minute an opted to hike closer to home instead. There was a couple inches of fresh on the ground near lake Valhalla, and lots of cool dusted mt views.

Thank you much for the report.  I was extremely curious what the conditions where like so I can fine tune my own forecasting.
Bickies in full effect on such a wonderful Fall day on the Muir. I wonder who that brave soul was we heard skiing the ice before us... any takers?

Snowslut- you and Preston missed out on 15 "powderish" turns. Should have kept going and waited on the beers.

Few more pics here. One particularly entertaining pic of Scottie having a  faceshot sandwich!

Nice report Chris.  Looks like the whole trip was a good omen!
A bobble is what I call the pom-pom thingy on the top of my knitted cap!
Nie job RB getting up to Heilitrope. Your visit will ensure powder in the near future.
Not to sound stupid, but whats a bobble?
Nice job boys,
Thanks for the invite Chris, sorry to miss out on the adventure. Spent the day fiddling around with my new fangled Dynafit Binding mounting jig invention.
Gotta love that compass/altimeter skiing.

Thanks for the beautiful report. I have a sentimental part of me that can relate a bit more than'regular' skiers. I had a pr. of Atomic shorties, about 8" longer than boots. I used those for 2 seasons, and then I got some Salomon blades!  I've used those for the past 8 seasons. They're even good for ski areas if it hasn't snowed for awhile - groomers of course. Anyway I love my 'Blades' as they are exce...
Nice photos.  Were all the tracks in the first pic. yours?
Yep - that looks like the patch! Nice job guys.

Ptarmigan Ridge is my playground of chose from August through September. Since my topo maps do not give names for most of the landmarks along the Ridge, I have had to make up my own titles for reference purposes. Photo 1 is blueberry ridge (the colour is still apparent, although the berries are gone). For much of the summer it is possible to ski from Photo 2 to Photo 1. The snowfield in Photo 2...
I think the great beer waiting for you was the northwest's way of saying- "welcome to the hood!"

Welcome to the hood, and enjoy the plentiful snowpack!

Welcome to TAY! Looks mighty good.

Thanks! Just moved to Seattle from Utah's Great Salt Desert.

And it's even a good beer!  So if there was a cold beer in the stream and $100 bill right next to it, but you could only choose one, which would it have been?

Nice pics too by the way.
Jeff, great to meet you and expedition photographer HB.  It's a great place to be, even for just a little skiing.

Here's to hoping there is some new snow before October runs out.

Mack - nope, Kamchatka would be earlier because it is on the early side of the date line.  The Aleutian islands, though, would do the trick.
Way to squeak it there, gents.  The only way to go later would be headlamp skiing....
or fly to Kamchatka.
Welcome to TAY! Looks mighty good.
A friendly thank you for feeding fresh info about the fairly fresh federal forester.  Fairly fresh federal foresters find me flabberghasted for four letter fiendish frases ;)

Sorry about forgetting the "f" rule.
That's fabulous that you found frisky frolicking fauna on Fay, but where are the fine fotos (euro spelling)?

... anyone run into a rather rude ranger, scrawny build, thin face, mid 30's to 40's maybe?

I did not encounter your Fairly Fresh Federal Forester.

rather rude ranger

You are supposed to be using F's!

Fine report my friend.
Figls on the Flett in the Fall?   Fuggedaboutit!   ;)  ;)  ;)

Great report!
Hehehe...yeah, I carried the boots as well as the sickness and a flat tire when I got back to my car.  Just curious, did anyone run into a rather rude ranger, scrawny build, thin face, mid 30's to 40's maybe?

Nice report Wolfs.  We might have seen you on the way down (possibly above Spray Falls?)...we got our turns in on Saturday and headed down on Sunday.  We weren't carrying our ski gear though, just had my crazy colored old skool poles from Goodwill ($2.00) and our hefty packs.  Glad you had a great trip and good pictures!  Fay Fuller later became a guide on Rainier as well, just another tid...
Nice job on the pics JD! What a great ski day! That one has to go down as my all time best  Sept. ski, as well!

It was nice to meet you and your friends, Cpernet & Mangerk.

Jason H., I wondered if that was you and your cronies on the true summit celebrating (as Baker was the place to be!) :)

~Jeff
wrigleyd, it was good to meet and ski with you, we'll have to keep in touch..
jd.. sweet photos, i noticed your camera when we were yoyoing back and forth.. very nice.. good to meet you guys too.. see ya in the mountains
Hi,

We were the last ski team to summit that same day. I also have a shot of Jeff jumping in the Roman Wall: good job!

That late descent was really spectacular, especially, due to the sun reflection on the Puget Sound.
Flipping Fabulous Fotos and Figl Fable, wolFs!  Very fun report.  Thanks.
I was where you where recently and that patch of flourescent green moss in your pics is amazing. On the day I was there it was glowing and very trippy!
a few more photos here.  enjoy.

Beautiful photos! We saw you as you reached the summit (false); the Hummels, Hannah, Amar and myself. What a magnificent day to climb and ski corn snow on Mt baker in late Septmeber! WOW!
You probably heard our yells of joy on the summit. We were pretty stoked to be up there, especially after winding our way up the easton glacier all day. Funny that's two trips in a row to baker I've seen you up there.
Nice TR Brad -- I didn't realize you were going with Don, who I've peripherally met once or twice.  We'll all have to get out this winter sometime.

"barack skiing with us" what a dream! :) :) :D ;D
i love it!

That's great... :)
Wrigleyd, Glad you guys had a good run. It was cool having your team at a distance for photos in the glacier. I just finished processing a few more you might like (I hope Charles doesn't mind me going over the thumbnail limit). The Coleman doesn't have a very good fall line for skiing, but the glacier scenery is Alaskan and well worth the effort. telemack, we left the skins at the bottom of the glacier, but they would have been nice for the middle section.
wolfs: I enjoyed reading your report.  Your photos are nice, too.  Beautiful flowers.  Thanks for sharing, especially the bit about Fay.
Eliot was a North Cascades avalanche forecaster.
I was up there this weekend too.  I'm pretty sure that shot of three skiers on the way up was us.  I didn't have quite the hearty meal that you guys had the night before, so when we stopped to take a rest at 8300' that was it.  Too bad I ate all my super fuel (gummy bears) the day before. :)

We didn't use skins; it would have been nice at some points, a hinderance at others.

We had a close call on the way down with a brake-less ski find it...
Wow, that crevasse has changed substantially.  The gaping hole on the right was completely filled in two weeks ago.  Looks like it collapsed or something.
Lordy, what great photos! That crevasse bridge is quite the piece of work.

I think I should've chosen your destination for my weekend .... I had been thinking about it. Sure looks like a healthy depositation of snow.
Year-round vulcanizing!  Did you skin any of the way up?
In "The Wasteland", poet T.S. Eliot stated that "April is the cruelest month".
Is it possible that he wasn't a year-round skier?  ::)
