Gotta love the butt-grovelling on the rap ;)
Just curious: how did you retrieve your rope and what did you use for anchors?

yes sir, road 38. park at the bridge and up ya go. funny thing is, the gate was open when i left, and I KNEW that it would be locked if i drove up. sure enough, at 7pm when I got back to the car, it was still open. Oh well, got my exercise for the day.
Nice...thanks for the tr and of course the pictures!
Great Video! Did you access the mountain from road 38? MF nooksack rd?? Man your dogs are troopers.
What a trip! and with your dogs too, what a hoot! Very inspirational...thank you! ;D
Thanks, Rusty! That one is getting blown-up, framed, and put on the wall! It's amazing what digital cameras can capture!
Perhaps the new standard for handheld solo filming. Strong work.

That is one beautiful picture Link! Nice report, got my blood pumping! Thanks!
Ummm... This is an update:
Gnar means bad, Right?
East peak is no good right now. It's no good and not worth going tomorrow. On the other hand, I've heard everywhere else is "off da hook", and everyone should go there.
There, I fixed it for ya, Joe. 8)

Thanks for the report,
The map is handy, I'll use it forever!
Superbowl weekend and wagering fever is at an all time high.
My side bet is:
Since you posted this report that there will be 20 groups of people, 10 snowshoers, 6 dogs, who visit East Peak this weekend and only three will post.
What's the over under?

Absurd stuff you're posting here Kyle. Hope you were wearing a helmet ;)
...AND the crazy ice climbing at the summit block. Serious endeavour indeed Kyle. Ditto Joe. ;) Entertaining read.
Yeeehaw!
Nice shot of the rap over the little cliff. Guess I am into that kind of thing.
The ski certainly looked worth it.

Hugging the east side of the White Salmon is precisely where Amar punched through a crevasse in April a few years ago. One leg went in up to his crotch. So, for others, take note of it.
I remember that report.
Here are pictures of the White Salmon showing some of the crevasses in October 2008.

Epic snow quality! Question: With the obvious and significant slide on the same aspect you skied...why did you ski it?
I'm really not fishing here but a ski cut shouldn't have countered the other evidence present.

I think Sky has more then made up for it and yes those are streaks of Blood from many failed attemps. If your thinking about heading out there I suggest you bring rope for the mandatory 2cm drop.
Welcome back to the internet Kyle. The stoke has suffered a bit in your absence.
Hell Yeah!
That looks like a great ski. Way to go get it!

I forgive you for not posting, Kyle.
I gather the red lines are trails of blood from victims of *the gnar*?

The point release at the top of the chute had propagated into a fifty ft. wide slab about six inches deep and was the result of loading of the northeast facing rock bands on the west side of the chute. The first skiers down the left side caused no releases and only moderate sluffs and snowballs.
The way it slid makes sense to me as there are two completely different aspects in around that chute. Thanks for the...

My best bet is that the trail to Stujack's is the easiest. I don't know what anybody else has done.

Hi JW: What is the situation at Cannon Mtn? Thanks, N
Nice TR!
Did Cannon and the Couloir look skiable from where you were? Does the N shoulder of Cannon look adequately covered? Thanks, N

We did not notice crevasses in our line. We stayed on the east side near the rock wall most of the way as it appeared to be the best fall line and provided better visibility than the open white slopes slightly west.
Looking west, we did notice bare glacier ice on some rollovers and some indication of open or more thinly bridged crevasses. Most of this was about mid-way up as the lower part appears to no longer have real glacier (lots of avy debris and water ice on rock slab, but not g...

Nice. Did you note any open (or thinly veiled) crevasses? Wondering how the low snow totals have affected the winter fill-in.
One more - looking down our run. A very sweet fall line.
Gorgeous shots! Looks like you had a great run despite the avy conditions.
