Splendind day up at colchuck lake for a somewhat lazy day. Forecasted high level clouds never materialized and we forced to deal with blue skies and sun. Skin in went pretty quick and we found oursleves at the lake before 10 am. Climbing up the glacier is much more pleasant the assguard.
I got a little scared when I saw big chuncks of icy cornice in the middle of the slope. The sun was out and it could be heating more to fail level.. then I remembered that someone had been up on top kicking cornices over the weekend.
If you fell off the summit, you would splat about here.

I was still a little wipped from the weekend, and JCocci lead the charge skinning all the way up. He is sttrong like bull... I booted the last firm 20' or so up. Topped out about 1 pm.

We still had an hour before our designated turn around time, but not the enrgy to climb any higher. So, we just enjoyed the scenery and poke around a bit. The west chute on dragontail looked creamy dreamy...

On teh decent, we found nice soft snow and light / powder to either side of the glacier, wind crust in the middle, and some small pockets of wind scoured in the flats. The steeper bottum half road very well. Snow below the lake was pretty good for a while too. Couldn't have asked for a better day. Back to the car by 5, and home in time for dinner.

Awesome -- I'd say that's a good choice over Jim Hill. Unless you skied Jim on Monday, in which case I need more free time. :)
Did you slog the road, or sled up it? The icicle road is open to Bridge Creek, right? Looks like a solid day's effort.
Or I need a job... ;)
We skinned the 4 firm miles of road to the TH in about 1.5 hours. The ski down went very good with soft daytime snow. Walked the uphill part near the 8 mile th.
