Dawn Patrol, saw Lisa as she unlocked the patrol room and we said hi as we pulled the Witches Knoll and slid into the woods. We made our way to the ridge and had coffee. Pointed the tips down far skiers right of Three Way. The top turns were in wind packed powder, but good just the same. We gathered in a group of pines and made the plan to ski far left and we found the goods in thigh deep fresh blower that no one had been on at all. My son knows how to find powder, I wonder how he learned this skill. A proud dad followed in his sons tracks all the way up and down. Peter Thanks for the great turns.
We finished the day of with a top to bottom in area on groom, just rip it.
Great day.
I have photo's but alas can't seem to get them on. In my next life I will spend more time learning how to compute, but in this life I climb, skin, and ski.
Cheers to the two guys that blasted past us just before the ridge, K2 Rep on white skis, next years something back. You made Peters day.
Everest Bill - Here's one pic from the day.  Great snow on both sides of the ridge, although south-facing had a sun crust under the new snow.  We did a whole bunch of short laps.  Fun day. - C

Scottsman, PNWBrit, Skierlyles, Dave, Sam, and I were also enjoying the pea soup in the Crystal slackcountry that day. We found better snow and visibility in the Crystal Lakes area than the Morse Creek drainage. Trailbreaking was a pain but having a group of 6 helped. Still fun turns despite the vertigo effect.

Into the abyss

Wow! where did all that snow come from.  Maybe it blew off Rainier and ended up at Crystal.  We toured down to Crystal Lakes from Three Way a couple of weeks ago in new snow on crust.  Thats a great area.  Good choice.

Sick, I love the Crystal Lakes Basin area.
