Has anyone been up to the Flett since? I've never been up there and I'm not sure if its worth the effort this late...any beta is appreciated!

Still good, still skiable within 50' vertical of the car.  Cracks starting to open, requiring more careful attention and good visibility.

Glad Paradise was good.  Had a great time camping and skinning but the snow was as bad as I've ever skied over on Muir. Sticky, cupped both large and small, and runneled. Short walk to the snow on Paradise? I t...
Beautiful! Thanks for posting.

Great report & photos!
It must be nice to be above the clouds :)
Nice photos Art, especially the 1st one.  Was great to meet you and ski the Paradise Glacier today!
Thanks for the info. I was thinking of heading up that way soon!

Thanks for the great shot of my groups tents up on Camp Curtis!
I can testify that there were more skiers on the mountain, I can verify that a team of two made it to the summit.  I nearly cried when I realized that they were going to ski some wind packed pow around the 13k range while I was forced to plunge step it :(
So where's a good point to ski to and picked up by vechile if you ski from the parking lot?  Trying to squeeze in a qick ski while taking east coasters up for a gawk at the snow.
The whole point of "no car camping" is to prohibit late night partying in the parking lot, so don't do that.  While nobody on this site ever condones bending the rules of august bodies such as USFS or NPS, if someone happens to get to the TH after dark, and happens to catch a few Zs there, that's not camping, that's just good prep for an early AM start.
Thanks for the info! My Bivy sack and I will be tucked out of sight ;)

So it's ok to leave your car  at Artist's Point overnight, but you shouldn't be in it, is that it?

Yep.  I think Joke is right about the forest service pass.  I have one and usually forget to put it up when I'm up there but I'm pretty sure I'll end up with a ticket at some point because of that.  I'm not real...

You're ok to park overnight but there are no improved camp sites anywhere near the heather meadows area.  I don't think sleeping in your car is approved either but there is an unimproved campsite at Lake Anne that would be hard to use if you couldn't leave your car in the Heather Meadows area. :D

I guess that makes sense.  What I meant to say i...
Amazing.  I've been wanting to get there too... this TR serves as good motivation and excellent beta on what can be had.

Thanks!
Nice one Louie. seems like you're having a pretty good summer...

Does one need a Northwest Forest Pass to park at Artist's Point can anyone tell me? Ok to park overnight? Please and thanks!

You do need a forest service pass to park, and there is no overnight parking or camping in the heather meadows area or at artist point.  The closest camping (car camping, that is) is about 10 miles before artist point near th...
Great TR, been thinking about this one for awhile now.
Thanks for the great report, I have been sitting in Redmond OR for the last few weeks looking up at all the great skiing to be had on the Three Sisters, and no time to do it. The report  might be just the motivation I need to make the trip!
You couldn't quite ski from the summit down the SE ridge, but from about 200 vertical below it was no problem.  If you went straight off the summit into the East bowl the slope was definitely over 50-55 degrees with plenty of very large cliffs to navigate...It looked like there could have been a chute or two that would have been doable, but given the conditions and not knowing the lines, I'd vote against going down that way.

Cool, some turns to be had within an hour's drive!
re: suncups, very, very minor.
where we were skiing, mostly on zig zag, between 7 & 10K, very smooth.

re: lift ops, ski out to parking lot was fine , though with the usual slop on the lower flat stuff. I think ski out to parking lot will be good for another week or two. pistes/groomers were in great shape as of Sunday the 22nd
Nice report! The coverage up high looks excellent for late July.

Slightly off-topic, how's the coverage over @ Timberline? I'm on the fence about joining some friends down in Govy for the weekend to do some summer park laps - can you still ski back to the T-line parking lot? What about the Mile, can you ski to that? If not, about how long of a walk is it now?
I agree with the trip routes picture..thank you!  What do you think of the sun cup situation at this point?  Just skinned and skied Paradise gl to Camp Muir with a ski the same way.  Snow was really pretty nice down to 7000k after that-- fun but cuppy..

Bach has been pretty smooth up to a few days ago at least.
I nice picture of your ski/return route.  ;)
Nice.  I will be going Thursday after work (leaving Bham 5ish) to make some laps.  Shoot me a PM if you want carpool.
I was curious about this area so took a photo the next day from down below and 'shopped in my route. This is a tricky area to ski in low vis as you tend to get drawn away from the lodge.

Also added couple of photos from a retread of upper part of route we did on Saturday the 21st. No suncups, firm hero corn.
I thought of you on the trip, Jamie because one of your trip reports got me out there last year.  One of these times we'll have to ski Daniel together.  Should be good for a while.  I promise, no more singing.
Mike thanks for the report, I came home on Saturday, and had a fair amount of work around the place to catch up on.  But I was contemplating my next ski, and thinking Daniels was a good possibility,  (Big Steve's TR helped).

I think that marching song needs work!
Hey Mike,

Good to meet you yesterday!  Classic Cascadian weather and terrain plus some soft summer snow made for an enjoyable day.  By the time we got close to the east peak the marine layer had billowed up enough to engulf us and rather then continue on to the main peak in the alternating white out/sun we skied down.  We were hoping to take a run on the Daniel or Lynch glacier but the weather dictated otherwise.
Awesome trip and adventure. Here are a few pictures, possibly of your tracks, taken from Steamboat Prow on July 7th. I could see your nice line across the Emmons, with a little routefinding across the rock ridge in the middle of the glacier. I could also see the place where it looked like you retraced your steps a bit just after Camp Schurmann. There are two figures in the 3rd photo, but it may be a climbing party headed in the same direction to climb something on the north side.
We were there as well and kept running into Kyle and Travis. We saw who they said was Silas, who seemed to be doing laps around us, and came down to meet the seniors in the parking lot for a beer. Ended up giving Kyle and Travis a ride back to their car after a ranger gave em bogus directions.

All in all it was a great day, and saw way more people than I expected to on that route.

snoslut suffered on the many flats with his board. :(

Gotta practice my crosscountry splitboard technique.  The skooch leg is in development.  Able to walk in half circles now.  Also working on split skiing with skins on but kinda hard with the skooch leg forming.  I can only make right turns.  Should be ready for a Muir descent shortly.

Otherwise...
Here's a view from Faraway Rock, across Reflection Lake, on Sat 7/21.
Any predictions on melt pond development?
Thanks!  It was a great day!
Love that first picture with the sun-splash, sun cups, blue sky, skier on horizon... very nice.
Good to see there's still turns to be had up there.
I'm not sure I've ever recalled skiing there in late July.
We finished the birthday ribs at my house yesterday!  Great ribs!

Nice meeting all you folks? LOL I usually ski solo in solitude!  This time I brought my wife because I expected lots of people.  Here is a poorly directed video of the somnolent skiing on the Paradise Glacier Saturday amongst the maddening hoardes.

Dreamy skiing in Paradise

Saturday was our first trip to the Paradise Glacier. Shortly after we headed up we had the pleasure of meeting Andrew Carey and Regine on their return, and farther along met Silas and Friends. Thanks to them and various others for advice about the route. At 7600 ft (±) we turned around and enjoyed smooth skiing most of the way back.

Hey Silas. This is Travis of "kick turns" (Kyle and Travis). Good to run into to you up there. We skinned up to the Cowlitz rocks after we saw you going back for your third run. Pretty cool views from that perspective, and it was fun to watch people ski down throught my binos. Also, I was the guy that asked Andy if his legs were burning after 78 consectutive turns. Funny stuff... here is a couple pics. The last one is of Andy and Regine

Nice meeting you (I think) yesterday afternoon.  Our group of four (1 hiker and 3 skiers) were descending just as you were nearing the summit.  Fantastic day on a modest peak with eye-popping views!

We had a similar experience with the potholes and the creek crossing a few weeks ago.

There's a subaru in there:
