I would really call it a three-fer, if you include the quick dive in the lake!

Great report Mike! I love the two-fers, be it ice/ski, or rock/ski. Full value day for the eastside obsessed.
Thanks, John. I enjoy reading about your multi-sport adventures. I remember one recently that involved ice, powder, and whippet avalanche mitigation.

Great TR and photos. Do you have the Voile Vector BC ?
Thanks for your first trip report. Nice view of the bowl.
Kind of surprised Jamie didn't shoulder his skis for the rock climb too.
First time I recall seeing the "Goat Cirque" designation was this post from 2007. It's apt. Even if you don't see the goats there you smell them. Or smell what they left atop the snow.
jtack and I pondered your route from the summit of Ingalls Peak today as we had an excellent view of the mountain from the East. We thought maybe it was the crevasse free line just south of the prow above inter glacier, and then we though maybe it was the crevasse free line just north of the prow (from our vantage point). Anyway, we had a lengthy summit conversation about the patience it took for you to get to ski that line and we also were able to admire the length of it from afar.&...

Eyeball lake - looks like you can ski right to it.
Thanks for update. Looks like its good for another trip for me. I love that ski.

Zoom and pan the map. You can see the crevasses if you zoom in.
The tents were our campsites.

Thanks for the report. It would have been useful for my son and me during our climb last weekend (August 3-4).
We didn't bring skis. There is still a lot of snow in the White Chuck basin, but it's going fast with all the warm weather now. During our climb, the passage from the Gerdine Glacier to the Cool Glacier was negotiable without crampons, but the snow was getting thin, so you might need crampons by now. The summit snow fingers are melting fast and the snow face on the...

Another great one Hannah and Amar !
Cool photos. The lake in the lower left of the last picture looks like an eyeball.
Awesome! Thanks for the beta. I'll be up there on Saturday, so this is just the information I needed.
Thanks for posting.

Your patience and persistence concerning that route have now payed dividends to you, your partner and even the rest of us who are ogling the photos.
Thanks for the excellent TR Amar.

Which way did you ski down?
I went straight up to the Whitman Crest and skied down pretty much the same way - on the third picture to the left of the frame, through the gap in the thin band of rocks. From there I dropped down the rollover on the second pictures which leads to the eastern crest of the Goat Cirque (short skin-up required), and then down fr...
Not a problem, get it while it lasts!
Mike Rolfs is the sticker maker, he was kind enough to make me one, and that picture is the back of my pickup.
Very nice adventure, Amar and Hanna. Really inspiring!
Looks like another wonderful trip, Amar! Wish I hadn't been moving, I would have loved to join you two.
I've climbed Ruth several times via the Hannegan pass route. I've always wondered whether one could just head straight up from the valley though, doesn't seem too steep and would make for a much more direct approach. Anyone tried it?
OK,
Not quite barely. In my mind, D suncups are really big (almost mogul-sized). C are large, B are not small but not that large and won't bounce you around too much. But it's just my personal scale so don't take it literally.

According to the Official Bra Size website you had barely any sun cups.

??? can you characterize that a bit better for me, please? I'm just not getting it..
;D
Good photos and effort. I loved that area when we first toured there 7/28-29. According to a PM from wolfs, you went up Goat Cirque. He said it's an informal name too.
We skinned your route to the S ridge of the cirque the first day, but couldn't see any way on to the Fryingpan through the clouds. Next day we booted slopes above and R of Summerland to 9000' between Meany and Whitman Crests, which looks like right near where you got. Which...

Awesome! I want that sticker!
Yea, where can we get that sticker?
Up there this weekend, on foot. Lines to the valley floor still go. Upper slopes are cuppy but smooth-enough. Lower lines look possible but possibly consequential. One small crack near Ruth's summit. Traverse to Icy is in good shape, glacier travel straightforward.
I bet that water is cold, with ice bergs still floating around! Polar bear for sure.
I shouldn't have read your report. I'm distracted now and can't keep my mind on work.

I can't blame you for not waiting for me. Looks like you had the perfect day with the perfect partner. Think I might follow your lead sometime midweek if I can sneak out of work.
Nice report!

For future reference, here is the Rainier forecast and the telemetry from Camp Muir on the opposite side of the Mountain during the weekend of this trip, which brought record heat to the lowlands of Western Washington. Seattle (SeaTac Airport) reached a high of 93 °F on both Saturday and Sunday, August 4-5, with Sunday's value setting a new record for the date. Very interesting to see the overnight lows at Camp Muir not drop below about 50 °F. Despite the warm temperatures, radiational cool...
Thanks for the general conditions update. Glad to hear things aren't too bad.
Saw a couple F15s fly by, maybe to salute friends climbing the summit?
I took the same pic of the diamonds, except mine were w/ the 'newer' Rossi logo ! (in the zone)
- J D's the man when it comes to photos ! I' ve got one of your Mt Hood north side pics from before. * what's the location of the glacial/ steeps pic
Wow! I haven't been up there in 3 weeks, and I wouldn't have expected any skiing would be left. I might have to return this weekend. Thanks.
