You took that shot from the pilot's seat didn't you? Sweet shot and nice work with the photo emhancements. Looks like a great ski.
Nice work. I was up around NPWA and Rainier was looking pretty fantastic...I couldn't see the dirt from that far away. ;)
Those suncups look like double d's at least!
Excellent video DOD. Way to rock the bare chest, Silas!
Car camp respectfully in the back of the Timberline lot or at empty sno-parks on rt. 26 or 35. Sno-parks often have toilets.
Don't know about car camping at T-line having never done it, but would think there are a few places in Govy that you could easily make work.....
Video of the day here:
I think i got the appropriate music for this one!

Sold! I'm driving down tonight. If I get there at two in the morning, would I be able to car camp in the parking lot? Or is it gated off? If so do you know of any car camping options around there? I have a northwest forest pass. Any info would be appreciated, thanks!
Skied it on Monday, doesn't go below Mississippi Head, stops a few hundred feet above. Little Zigzag is washed out, Zigzag is ok, Palmer after all that was sweet! Probably about 1700 on the Zigzag right now....
What do you suppose the conditions/run length would be over on zig zag now..would it go down below Mississippi Head?
It was Zap who taught me to use harscheizen (sp?) to crank our way up gnarly soft suncups 8)
I think I remember it being 8-1/2 hours, but that was with all the loop-de-loops. Iluka's TR said they took 2-1/4 hours to get to the Sholes.
Hm...

Mack distracted me so I didn't know the speed limit had changed from 70 to 60. :'(
Hm...
Good to see you are still getting trips in Donnelly. Whitman Crest is right around 9k.
Telemack, you teaching with week.
TR report and photos were great.
Rusty Knees, your words and Telemack's are getting great. ;)

Sure looks like it! Good on you guys. How many hours from car to car pray tell?
Mack or James can correct me, but I think we were somewhere around 8 hours car to car. I believe it was about 9 am when we started on the TH and 5:30 ish when we reached the car.
The good news was that Mack and I made the 10:25 ferry to kingston :) without...
Mack – Much congrads on your five years of year around skiing!!
Dan – Great camera work… looked like a great day.
Don – Nice work on the poem… and thank you for honoring me in it by mentioning me in the same sentence with some of the real greats of our community.

I learned long ago, fifty months or so,
to talk no smack around Telemack,
He only smiles and nods, and suggests you follow,
Then he jumps and flips
his telemarktips
And starts linking turns
Jumping left then right, and left and down
Dropping vertical so fast
My fear makes me swallow
But my mouth is too dry, and I hope as I fall (low),
Those twin steel rods
That he calls legs
Soon run out of steam
Cuz I'm out of gas...

Mack, James, and Julie... Thanks for the excellent time! It was a true mountain adventure and I look forward to more of it :)
Here are a few pictures:

Are we ski mountaineering yet?

Nice work guys! Sounds like it was another fun day out there...
Hooray for Mack's 60 months!
I guess there are two lumps that might be called the Portals. We went to the top of the lower and NE one at about 6450'. The other one is several hundred feet higher and had the very broken steep snow face shown in Iluka's TR.
I well remember going to the top of this "lower" Portal with Telemon, and so we talked about him on the trip and I wore garish shorts in his honor.

A great trip report, tha ski is sure one I want to do! Thanks.
Brian, it could have been one of two things:
- A Heron,
- or, did you maybe break protocol, and drink your beers before you skied?

Nice one Jamie! I was afraid that second photo showed all the snow that was, but the fifth pic shows some good looking snow.
Nice photos. We were in Bend in August and the snow pack looked healthy.

Vince,
Really beautiful images. Please give Davey an ear scratch for me. My boy Joe is too old to make the trips anymore and it makes me sad. Davey made me smile today!

Despite the clouds that blew in and out, I still had a fun day -- but then skiing the Wild man is always entertaining!

Great, thanks. Any sign of crevasses?

Love the last pic
Yep. Awesome.
I enjoyed reading your report ! I'm down here in the Lake Tahoe area, and our temps have come down during the past wk., as well. No snow at all, but I'm hangin' at a river.
Thanks for the TR and photos. Looks like a great place for September turns, and lots of snow still around compared to the typical hunt for a little patch or two.

Ooh, good to hear how conditions are there. (And, beautiful photos!) Any idea around what elevation you hit snow?

Thanks for the TR. Good to hear they are fixing the bridge, last time I was there the alternative crossing was a bit sketchy at 3 AM.
Nice one! Thanks for the details and to Andy for his awesome write up as well and esp. the access notes. This is another amazing place to add to my list ski descents in WA.
Nice photos Amar, esp. the multiple exposure panorama. Looks like you're getting used to the new Photoshop.
Love the first pic too :) Way to persevere. How many months?
Cool - way to get after the late season turns! We were just through Spider Gap a week ago, as the last part of an 8-day backpacking trip. As I gazed up at Lyman Glacier and mentally pieced together the run you guys were to actually do (that gap to the right past the upper rocks looked sporty), my wife said something to the effect of "don't tell me you are wishing you had your skis with you!?" I sheepishly replied that it looked like a fun line and that I wouldn't be surpri...
I like that 6th pic with the tracks. Nice work. My kind of trip!
- those look like low clouds, to me (hah)
