oops.. to avoid confusion, when I said 'rapped', I meant turned.. no ropes or climb gear was used..

Way to go John. Very cool. I remember watching Josh fall down that face. Still surprised to this day that he pulled it together. One of my all time fav routes. It has a little bit of everything.
Thanks. I agree, it is one of the best descents in the area, at least in my limited experience. If you hike around and drop in from the top like I di...

Nice solo effort; way to make it in a single push, too. TR makes me want to go ski this line again... last time I lost a pole at the top of the face, which made the remainder of the trip a little more interesting...
Ah, so this must be you. I read this earlier in the week for inspiration: trip report...

As an aside, the coverage is so good right now, the run from the lake back down to the trail junction was a legitimate powder run. I can't tell you how many times I've had to down skin that portion because the trail was an iced out pile of crap.

An inspiring trip report! Thanks for the tip, we took your advice on our 3rd lap of the day and enjoyed it greatly. I still have the gift you left on my car at the TH - we might consume it tomorrow night in a tent!
Definitely a great day in the hills, it was a treat to land first tracks in the Bryant with you guys.

Wow. Congrats on achieving this solo. Impressive photos and great TR! And I must say, excellent timing too! This is one to be remembered for sure...
How in the hell did you make it back to your car with your balls dragging in the snow behind you! Nice work man!
I was a little surprised that we didn't see a single human track (snowshoe or ski) north of Roosevelt. We had sweet waterfront property all to ourselves!
Sorry I didn't get a picture of the moon over Alpental -- that was one of my favorite parts of the trip!

Awesome report! Great pics! I especially enjoyed the sunrise shot. 4 stars
I love this area, great trip report!
We covered some of this terrain in a day trip variation of the Chair-Roosevelt figure 8 last April. Good to hear it's already in good shape, can't wait to get back there.

Beautiful terrain and trip. That's a lot of ground to cover in 2 very short winter days! I've long wanted to get back there to camp and explore for a few days, so many cool lines in there
Thanks for the TR and pics

Man I miss the North and South backcountry of that place. I taught skiing there in the 80's when maybe only 20% of skiers had the ability to properly shred that terrain on 200+cm skinny skis.
author=Pete A link=topic=26698.msg112551#msg112551 date=1356732997]cool trip. the terrain around Mt.Caroline and Preacher Mtn is a lot fun...been six years or so since a whole gaggle of us TAY'ers spent a couple weekends exploring back there...definitely some interesting skiing to be had.
I remembered the TR, that helped pull us toward Preacher. Nifty (and stout!) lines you guys skied.

another good one! it's always fun to see oneself on a video.
i like the mix of resort steeps with backcountry pow.
but (though i love that song) i can't help but wonder if it's bad luck to use a tune by "the avalanches" in a ski video!

This was my first time on the camera and so the video is kind of spotty... and I missed Jan's beautiful turns because the battery got cold :(
Nice pictures and video Dan, reminded me how blustery it was on that ridge line............
Wonderful, looks like you had it all, thanks for the report.
Although they do appreciate gratuities. ;)

Agreed. And to that end:
Dear Skier8484,
The internet (aka, me) would like to formally request that you upload somewhere and link a highest-possible rez version of the first Holy Toledo shot (the white room pic) so that the internet (aka, me) can make it a gorgeous seasonal wallpaper with which to distract ourselves at work.
Sincerely,

Good clean fun. You missed a series of impressive tree bombs falling on the second uptrack. Giant-crater-making bombs. Fortunately none of us were hit. Yes, 3-4 feet more will make a real difference to the lower forest.

You pay for overnight lodging and self transportation (which is optional) from the snowmobile point. I believe gear transportation is included in booking. The prices are all online their website.

Thanks for this excellent report.
What is the process and cost for getting set up with a guide to the goods? Is this all included in overnight package, or is the guide an add-on?
A first trip to this place is first on my short-list...

Agreed - just don't tell too many folks ;)
i wonder if people truly realize the kind of access to wild BC that Scottish Lakes opens up for you. this place is sick.
Good report Chris! Glad you had Eric to show you the goods - there's a lot more up there... Yeah, Heidi always laughs about even thinking about keeping up with Eric. She's up there now working with him through New Year's.
And a nice shot of you stoking up that beast of a stove in Paintbrush(!). That's been our usual cabin for years, but with the kids off at school it's time for a smaller "couple's" cabin now. I can&...
