Fantastic.  Great effort.  Way to go Jeff!  Thanks for the pix.  Love the skiing "stupid stuff" and can totally relate  :)
Paid a little additional tribute on the way home from Entiat yesterday, Jamie -- added a few scribbles in the snow on Diamond Head in glorious afternoon light, with your turns in mind.
Thank you everyone for posting about
Scott ! He was the most amazing, positive
fun loving , hard working, caring soul you
could imagine. He was one of the most
positive influences in my life, many times
pushing my limits and riding lines that I
wasn't sure I would ever ride! No one had
more fun rippin pow than wicklund. Regretfully,
I never told him how much he means to me.
See u on the other side brother!

    &nbs...
Yes, but before the turn to Turner.
Doesn't Atomic ski on the Atomic Century?
Awesome pics Ben! It was great meeting you and Scott and getting a line thats been on my list for a while too. Footage from the day is coming together nicely.
Nice report and not surprised it's still holding powder.

There was a skier-triggered avalanche near the rocky face of Castle (skier's far left at the saddle) around 2-3 pm in the afternoon.

That doesn't surprise me either I've seen that let go under a skier several times . It's a touch spot.

I'm thinking park rd. to paradise will not be open as Jan. 2nd is not a holiday and would fall under the t...

It also had me thinking about the role I should play with those I am closer to should bends in their lives crush the way they define themselves. Scott had many talents, not all of them predicated on his athletic abilities. Could he have found new realms that stimulated him?

I understand that Scott was seriously injured in a recreational accident. Complications fr...
Wow, such an impressive tour- this is now on my someday list. Awesome photos ben!
Corey, (I don't know if you remember doing laps with me at baker the day after thanksgiving?) its cool to see you here, I am so envious.

Dumb question - does this mean the park road to Paradise is open on tues/wed this week (holiday week)?  Was thinking of heading that way tomorrow.
That first photo is stunning.

No stability issues noted.

There was a skier-triggered avalanche near the rocky face of Castle (skier's far left at the saddle) around 2-3 pm in the afternoon.  We didn't see it -- happened between our first and second laps -- but witnesses said that skier was able to ski out of it.  It appeared fairly shallow, but deposited a surprising amount of...
Not Atomic skis, rather Atomic the TAY user. :)
Nice surface hoar.

What Atomic are you skiing.
Great water supply.  ;)

Photo is impressive.
Wow!

Way to go...  What a perfect day.

Hopefully our schedules will align again soon. ... And the cool weather keeps those northern slopes in good condition :)
A great long tour. I have skied Broken in May. I would bring home beer to offer for the ride and get the long approach shortened.  ;)

You pay for overnight lodging and self transportation (which is optional) from the snowmobile point.  I believe gear transportation is included in booking.  The prices are all online their website.

Eric is a host, not a guide, and the only time we skied with him was before 9am, because then he had to go work.  I don't think they offer an type of paid guide service.  He's...

Gary etc:  great looking day.
Doug:  lots of good tracks in that first photo of yours.  We should drop the knee together again....

Mack:  I'm down for a turns reunion!  Check your PM

I thought I would be solo today but I should have known better with the great weather. Ran into Tyler and Katy of Pacific Alpine Guides showing off their new to...
Yeah, eight miles feels about right. About half road, half above the trees on the ridge. With the short days right now you would need a pretty early start if you want to get more than a couple of laps in the West Fork Washougal drainage, where some of the best lines are.

There are also some pretty nice west-facing slopes that come down from the ridge north of the summit, basically down from the 180 trail between the summit and the Silver Star TH. Stopping there and lapping could yiel...

spectacular indeed!

Hope the skiing was a good salve for the soul.

I didn't know Scott particularly well but his death saddened me and had me thinking about the few things we had done together. It also had me thinking about the role I should play with those I am closer to should bends in their lives crush the way they define themselves. Scott had many talents, not all of them predicated on his athletic abilities. Could he have found new realms that stimulated him?

I can't answer tha...
Thanks for the trip report! Might have to go check that out, soon! Is that along the back route to Turner? Would make a good trip, if Turner had a week's worth of blower on a Friday to lay waste to, then head out to the goods, during the weekend, while everyone else is resolved to ski the shwag!  :)

did any of you notice if any of the couple dozen skiers (! never have seen folks back there !) put in a track past the Kendall Katwalk?

I was heading there, albeit somewhat aimlessly. Partner came down with fever the night before. I was the only one back there... breaking trail... slow going. which turned my thoughts elsewhere. rummaged through several options,...
Owen and I were in the museum today.  A very special place near the Bride where he and Scott shared an overnight trip several years ago.  Along came a bald eagle that circled overhead a couple times and then moved on.............

We miss you Scott.
Great one Fat Bastard! you read my mind on this one.  I was hoping to get on that as soon as the weather broke, but alas, the weather broke during my trip to southern California. Nice to read about another of your always inspiring trips
Yeah Boyz! Looks like an awesome day. Glad you had some fun
sounds entertaining; lotsa fun couloirs back there.

Thanks for the report. I hope you all saved a couple lines for my morning run. This has been a great stretch of snow days.
Good day to be out, great to finally meet the legendary Silas!

We put a skin track back up the chute as far as we could but eventually had to boot some supportive and some utterly wallowy snow.

Thanks, it got plenty of use the past two days.
Awesome day with some fun (even if unintentional) exploration of a different corner of the mountain.  It was so good that it didn't even matter that I was on my summer skis due to a Dynafit Radical blowout the week before.
Looks epic, and brutal! I still wish I could have gone...
Very sorry to hear about Scott. I never met him, but we corresponded a few times.

I presume this is his video, right?

My thoughts go out to his family and friends.
looks like you got it with primo conditions!
Nice!  thanks for the pics
Funny. We toyed with the idea of going after the Black Hole yesterday too but settled on another objective. Looks like great conditions.
A "Black Hole on Sunday". A great trip !
Spent yesterday, 12-30-12, skiing all around Sunbeam basin.  It was very good.  One of those rare days in which the four key variables came together for me: day off, great visibility, solid stability and superb snow.

Due north from the peak definitely has many cliff bands, but also some amazing looking couloirs and routes that look relatively doable in stable conditions. Did you ski down to Valhalla???
droppin knees on the north face of shuksan

Sorry for your loss Jamie. On my next time out I will make some turns in the name of your friend. Looks like you had a peaceful day of reflection out there. I didn't know your friend, but I bet that is the kind of tribute he would have wanted .
Thanks for sharing.
Jamie.

I share your sorrows, even if I only had the pleasure of climbing with him once. Some individuals are so full of life and good spirits, the make a lasting impression on how we should be living. love that last photo.

I reached out to a mutual friend of Scott's and mine and asked him along for some mt therapy. H\Sadly he couldn't make it.  On the trip, I told my friends about wick. He was on my mind all day but I tried to keep the mood up but not talking...
Jtjack, although you were solo, maybe you weren't alone.  Perhaps your friend was there too.
Must have been a great high from this one, congrats.

Someone was just telling me second-hand that the Wenatchee Mountains have an extremely large snowpack for this point in the season, which certainly jives with skiing this line.  The idea of skiing a line like that in the Stuart Range at this time of year by default loads three ASCII bytes (WTF) onto the heap in my head; way to capitalize.
Nice work guys!  Looks like a great time.  I won't lie, I'm always a bit jealous of the terrain you have up there, especially in the winter!
