60 months. Congratulations on an impressive run!
A+ Bravo! Nice work skiing off all three summits!
Love the third photo.

Great trip and pictures! This is one of my very favorite skis in the spring.
The fall seems a bit too much booting around for my taste, but then again, the spot is awesome.
EDIT: Here's a shot from June 04, you had a lot more rocks to navigate.

I assume you are wondering about the ice climbing conditions?:) Cosley-Houston is not in, the upper pillar is super thin and has not touched down, the lower pitches look pretty thin too, same on the Polish route...
indeedy.
thank you guys for replies. -veronika
Lassen was one of my favorites on the volcano tour last spring. Can't wait to get out there this winter and hit some of the smaller peaks. I read the Shasta was one of the few places in the world where glaciers are actually increasing in size, thanks to increased precip.

Nicer than what we found yesterday at Stevens Pass, WA...
Just some late-season follow-up on this avalanche, which occurred at the start of July 2013 near 8000 ft on the Whitman Glacier.
For reference, here are a couple of photos copied from the first post above, showing the still-fresh avalanche site on July 3:

Beautiful pic Matt, and welcome back to the snow-sliding.
Thanks Marcus, I am glad to be back. Looking forward to the white stuff this year, especially come April and the corn harvesting can begin!
p.s. eventually we will connect via email!
edit: another pic just for beauty's sake

You have a wonderful disregard for rocks! You and my skiing partner need to get together, he has no fear of them as well!
Nicely done, guys. But Carl, you're slacking... where's the vid?
Edit: Gee, never mind... right in the first post :)

Man, you had great photo light at both day and night
Nice! I really wouldn't have guessed that the chute would be in right now.
Thanks for showing a glimpse of freedom to an officedweller!

What about getting through the lower angle moraine part, had enough snow collected in the lee?
After the rocky sections on the top we where able to ski the rest of the way out. Just enough on the lee...We skinned out earlier than usual cause the lower moraine part was full of sharks ::)
Here are a few pics...

Nice. For the snowfield part you were often about where I was a day before. I had looked at the Chute both on approach and from the top and didn't think it would go without a lot of threading through the rocks (hadn't seen any tracks down it either, I guess nobody wanted to be the first P-Tex Poodle). Your video didn't exactly change my mind about the rocks, but the turns on the quarterpipe windlip did look nice. What about getting through the lower angle moraine part, had enough...
Woohoo!
Wish I could have made it. Nice to see pics of mac getting low.

(kciari, I parked next to ya'll at paradise, chatted at pan point area. Props for sticking with the tutu, I thought for sure you'd ditch it. Congrats on 24)
Thanks much MattT! Good chatting with you too. And of COURSE I stuck with the Tutu. That thing is a skiing staple my friend.

author=Jeff Huber link=topic=29379.msg123501#msg123501 date=1382390205]Fantastic ski day. The day also marked my 10th year of continuous TAY.
Congrats!
This would have been such a perfect way to reach that milestone, and it would have been such a perfect reenactment of our October 2007 Adams summit ski, except for one missing element: me. (Sigh...)
Oh well, snow guns are blasting away at Killington for a weekend lift-served...

The leftmost track was my doing
I can take claim to that center track, getting a little playful, and that mess of skin tracks...
We were up there on the 19th during the day in the sun.
Sounds like the same conditions you...
Thanks for the report. Feeling blessed by whatever cosmic lottery that brought me this enjoyable place. For those languishing in the fog-bound nether regions of the Puget Sound basin(like me last weekend in Lakewood), respite is only a drive toward the passes away.
sounds like a damn fun trip! it's always a pleasure to be out under a full moon.

PS If anyone is interested 'The Logs' in BZ is for sale or lease (I miss the bbq)
At $750K that listing might take a while to move
Cool, how thin is was it, catch any rocks?
Yeah the station has good food, really good breakfast. Can be sloooow though.

Going way right from Muir gives you that lump in your thoat feeling. Kind of like, I think I've gone too far.
Great ski! Great photos, green with envy!
Wow, what a sweet way to bag October. Thanks for the idea... full moon riding, hmm, tasty.
+1 for all of the above. I woulda called it pseudo-corn, but man was it enjoyable, ripping fast!
No clouds, no wind, huge views and temps that rivaled madison beach on a hot Seattle day. So perfect I had to ski shirtless...it's October?! I froze my ass off up there in August.

Look at where we live... Damn. There is no place else to be.
At Timberline, mt. Hood in the p.m. it was the same balmy weather

Great trip with a great groups of guys. Can't wait to ski with everyone again!
Also, for anyone passing through here in the future, this TR should be listed as "Skyline Divide"

I was the gal in the tutu going for 24-months, and this TR is spot on.
That was classic - thanks for adding some more color to camp!

Purchase of a Cascades Volcano Pass is required if you are climbing above 7,000 feet elevation in Mt. Adams Wilderness, between June 1 and September 30. The Cascades Volcano Pass is a Recreational Fee Program.
Thanks for the report!! Do we need to buy permits for this time of year? Still FS Trout Lake?
I was the gal in the tutu going for 24-months, and this TR is spot on. The snow was great and skiing was fast and fun! I agree with the TR from the 20th as well - you want to head down earlier than later and there was a lot of melt even over the course of the day. I swear it must have been 80-degrees by the time we hit the top of Pan Point. I was skiing in shell pants and a tank top and was still super warm.

A flagrant disregard for base gouges and ability to unweight on asphalt made for a trip almost to lot on Saturday with no damage to vegetation. The snow was already VERY thin and more were coming down behind us, I can't imagine it would have been possible on Sunday even if you wanted to get a free base grind to start your season.
Those were by far the best October turns I've ever had and the biggest group I've ever had out. Great day for month 47 :)
