Thanks for the pat on the back guys! But, I must confess, I am a mere mortal. The bike is the real superhero. It has an electric assist that allows me to leap deep patches of snow in a single bound.

November 16, 2013, Snoqualmie Pass

There was an additional slide in the Orion Chutes area at Stevens yesterday. The crown was on a steep convex rollover, supposedly skier triggered. From our vantage point we couldn't tell if it initially released on that same layer you mentioned or if it was on the old snow layer but when it got going it ran on the old snow layer. It was significant in size--I would guess the path was 100' across and ran well into Pegasus Gulch--maybe 900 vf.

Dawn patrol reporting in... Still fun, recommend lots of acreage underfoot, pass level has turned rain like or not quite snow anyway little earlier than forecast. The 186 swallowtail was the way to go for this kind of work

Update what do you know push post and the fat flake start falling again... Maybe I should keep doing that.

Man Oh Man, what a fun day! I was impressed that even on a busy day when the lifts are going to open, Stevens Pass welcomed the uphill crowd. I was more impressed by the snow. I was even more impressed by the crowd. I'd guess there were 200 uphillers at the ski area. Swarms on Chief, and people headed toward 7th, Tye, Double Diamond, and even up Chief Bowl.

The Wenatchee crew was well represented:

Hey Brian, sorry I missed you. I was up there for a training day. Kneel Turner and I did a lap in the late afternoon. Surprised how good it was. FAT skis make the mashed potato world go round. I imagine your board floated just fine eh? Ed did at least one more lap in the gathering disk after I left. He's an iron man.

I test drove a new rig for a couple of laps mid-afternoon. Ran into a couple of youngsters having a safety meeting in the patrol shack up top. Brush slalom!

Skiing was most excellent on the upper mountain. Had international all to ourselves, then we were a bit surprised to see the gongshow of people that had formed on the lower mountain while we were up top lapping pow.

35cm at parking lot turned into 90cm (mostly new snow, maybe 10-20 solid base below) above 4k. Pit yielded a slight wind layer at 15cm, but all sugar on top, no shear results. Some brush skied, but no base scratches car-to-car.

Back to the original TR, did anyone note that runcle was pedaling uphill on SNOW, with skis on his back? Way to Earn Your Turns 8)
The only time I biked with skis it crushed my spirit (temporarily---we had overnight and mountaineering gear).

it's cracking me up that my syncro is the highlight of the TR, but then again, i kind of agree. lust for a 4wd vanagon was one of the big factors that ended my 2 year stint as an unemployed snowboard bum and got me back to full time work. i picked the van up late last winter and all but gave up rock climbing this past summer to get her in shape for winter. it was a lot of "work" but seemed worth it when i folded out the newly upholstered bed in the snowy trailhead parking lot. ...
