Mad Dog and Ron - Does it count if you lead yourself on a long pointless hike?

Seems like it should certainly be worthy of consideration, Rusty.  I'd have to check with the MadDog; if memory serves, I believe she is the official proctor of the actual Stashworthiness Book.

A point of interest, however... just to be fair and avoid confusion, and certai...
Cool pictures.  Thanks for the link.  All that white stuff does get the blood boiling.
Mad Dog and Ron - Does it count if you lead yourself on a long pointless hike?  I actually think I saw the slope in one of Stewie's pictures, but opted to stay on the trail for a while longer.  Then, I think I saw the stash peeking over the top of a ridge looking at me, teasingly, but one the kids (I have to blame SOMEONE) was pretty much done with going uphill at that point.  Hope to meet somebody out there sometime.
As Scotsmans stated stash worthiness can only be attained by...
...taking the candidate on a long pointless hike to a false stash that isn't very good and see if they keep a positive attitude...

So it was said...so it shall be written!

maryg I'll be going on a long pointless hike to a false stash again this weekend, that isn't very good so if your interested...pm me.

<thread jack>btw I have a s...
Okay, according to Joedabaker the Stashworthiness protocol is that you need to take them there instead of telling them the location.
But how does one get to be Stash Worthy?
Can someone post the rules about Stashworthiness please. ::)

I had it in my head that I could stumble onto the stash without a guide.  All I found, though was Muir.  Again.
 Your geeeetttttting warmer  ;).

author=Rusty Knees link=topic=7796.msg31162#msg31162 date=1190180620]........earned my September turns - 11 months now!  And the kids got to go sledding in the summer.

Good go...
Way to hang in there, Rusty.
That kind of perseverance is what the Stashworthiness Protocol is all about.  Keep it up and you'll either stumble across the Stash, or a Stash user will take you there due to your obvious Stashworthiness.
;)
NIce job you two!  ;D.  Doesn't look like you had any "sandcups" to worry about either  ;).
Kam, looks like a good sand year back east.  Everything is filled in and so smooooth.
Way to go!  I skied there last month, probably on the same dwindling "tongues".  Why no pictures of the cloud?  But, yes, the new stuff is coming soon.  CONGRATULATIONS on soon 10 years!
That's some incredible scenery...!!!
gosh weepay--it's a postcard, a 39 cent stamp should get it there just fine.  it's not like we're shipping it from over seas!! (though it may feel that far sometimes...)  ;D
Indeed, we were driven by something. I recall an ex-wife who I kept chasing for many years after the divorce. I didn't really like her anymore, but there was a little something that she satisfied, even if only short-term. Next month, we will chase the white virgin instead...
I am still not sure what to make of our ski trip.  I hope to have it sorted out by the time my gear dries out.  ;)
Perhaps "The Methadone Patch" may be a more apposite name as something akin to a nicotine compulsion may have abated upon seeing conditions at  the parking lot.  We must have been driven on by something less resistable with the expectation of something more satisfying.  I think that aside from the great companionship, the most satisfying part...
What a difference a few days make. My son and I had great conditions out there last week. I may even go back for seconds this weekend. We were able to get 1000vf without lapping during the mid afternoon.
coverage above Van Trump Park appeared to be a little boney ;).

hey skip, how'd those gummi's taste?  did cass wipe some sunscreen on them for you??  ;D
There are some fingers that are pretty bad, but the section that leads you to the bivy sites is holding snow well.
Is the bottom of the glacier all nasty bare ice now?
Thanks Jason, I've been meaning to for a while!

Skierguitarist- FS 39, turn right one mile past Glacier. 8 miles to Heliotrope TH, hike 2 miles to climber's trail cutoff to your right. Go straight up about 1/2 mile and it puts you right on the Coleman. There is ample information about this approach in many guidebooks and online if you want exact distances/elevations. Conditions should be even better after the snow they're probably getting right now. Not that I crossed m...
Good job on a new moutain and lots of vert!   Sounds like conditions have improved from a few weeks ago (suncups filled in a bit more?).    Thinking about heading up from Bend, as your report sounds like things are coming back into condition.   What trail-head did you use and what roads?  Is that the approach via the town of Gacier?   This will be a new Mt. for me too....  Any approach info. much appreciated.
Glad to see you got up there. I bet they are getting snow right now.

BTW, Glacier Peak has an outstanding view better than Baker possibly. Hopefully I can get up there this season for a reminder.
Nice to see you on the trail!!  Those patches looked pretty good. :D
And great pictures.  We actually never saw the top of the falls ourselves.  It looked like a torrential stream from heaven itself.  Very cool.
Nice photos Chris, and way to knock out TAY year 5 Skip  :D
Whoa. I was over on Pyramid Peak on Labor day and was remarking on how totally gone the Van Trump "glaciers" were already then, & how dry the hike up to Hazard would be. Way to scratch out some turns!
Nice work K & A.  Your postcard seems to have made it through despite being 2 cents short on 1st class postage ;)

Congrats on 1,5 and 6 years you guys, nice work!  I thought Flett/Russell area ski-able snow would've been long gone by now, suprise, suprise.  I hope you can get some pics up, I'd like to see em!  Did you check the sizing info??? ;D
Nice pics and good to hear some other TAYers taking advantage of the BEAUTIFUL sept. weekend!
Here is another perspective of the route. I was up on Weart yesterday. Snow still looked good.

On the wall at Neptune's Mtneering Shop in Boulder, there is a B&W photo of a shapely young lass dropping into a swet tele-turn, with just an avalanche beacon on-pretty stunning!
What route is usually taken from that tarn to access the ridge?  I was up there today poking around and followed a path climber's right of that small pond.  It led to the top of a couple gullies, but from there it faded and the route up to gain the main ridge wasn't obvious to me.
The Skyline road is open all the way to the TH, has been since around Labor Day I think. That was another reason for going Skyline: it's been a while since it was even an option (Wells Cr hasn't been open that long either; since mid July. The road situation(s) probably why reports for Hadley have been few and far between lately.)

Kudos to the FS for fixing the road at all. However, it's a patch job, looks like even an average winter might wipe the reconstructed roadbed...
Nice photos & that is a crazy marmot.

I've thought that the road to Skyline Divide is washed out (again). How far did you get to the trailhead??
Nice pics...  Have you skied Volcan Lanin (which I presume is in Chile).  Looks like a sweet mountain!!!!!!!  Thanks for your reports from the other end of the world.  Very cool.........
Cool report, pics. Must have been a bit spicy, there are a lot of guns around that border!
Why no photos?  Lens not wide enough, or not long enough? ;D
Headplant takes on a whole new meaning.
Right on!  Naked skiing is awesome....
As you know Silas, I had entertained the idea of skiing in Chile this month. It did not happen. I hope that you aren't reporting these conditions just to make me feel better.
Considerable shrinkage factor I'd imagine!
Hope you remembered your sunscreen!  ;D

and the 3rd I skied in the true base layer, giggling the whole way.

teehee :)
skichica: nice forma.

sounds like a nice trip.  i too can't wait for the snow to fly....

I understand if this image has to be deleted because of pic posting regulations,, but i cant resist, my throwaways dont usually take good pics
Very very cool.  Most excellent!!!!!!!!!!  Got to get up there...
We DID see your tracks and admired them greatly!  We seriously wish we had just stayed on the portion of the mountain just to skiers left of where you were.  That was the only decent snow we encountered.  Your patch looked great!  Good going- maybe we'll meet up next time.
