Cool report, pics. Must have been a bit spicy, there are a lot of guns around that border!
Why no photos? Lens not wide enough, or not long enough? ;D
Headplant takes on a whole new meaning.
Right on! Naked skiing is awesome....
As you know Silas, I had entertained the idea of skiing in Chile this month. It did not happen. I hope that you aren't reporting these conditions just to make me feel better.
Considerable shrinkage factor I'd imagine!

I understand if this image has to be deleted because of pic posting regulations,, but i cant resist, my throwaways dont usually take good pics
Very very cool. Most excellent!!!!!!!!!! Got to get up there...
We DID see your tracks and admired them greatly! We seriously wish we had just stayed on the portion of the mountain just to skiers left of where you were. That was the only decent snow we encountered. Your patch looked great! Good going- maybe we'll meet up next time.
This is my first post, so I hope this works.
Spicoli and I planned on heading up to Muir on Saturday with less than a positive outlook on snow quality, but with the goal of getting my 11 month, and Spicoli's 12th! We opted for the smaller (400 feet or so) small field to skiers right of the main trail up to Muir. There were a couple old lines, with much smaller sun cups that anticipated (and much nicer than Ptarmigan ridge up at Baker the previous week), so we decided to bai...

Great TR Stewie, good you learned how to arrest.
Dont know what your dad was worried about because if you didnt stop on the snow, you could have stopped on the rocks (no cliffs). ;)
The moat looked exciting.

If Ron J will teach me his Mexi-brothel lingo I PROMISE not to listen.... 8)
Hummm.... ::)
We've probably hijacked Stewie's great TR thread for long enough.
I'm sure folks would like to get back on the topic of skiing cool stashes and such; besides, I should get busy downloading the rest of the pics on my camera.

This is why Rule #3 exists. He just spent today in detention after telling his Spanish teacher the Mexican brothel phrase you taught him! ::)
Would you take that last part back if I told him to forget what I told him about the Mexican brothels?
Stewie, your father here with some advice on the suggestions you have been getting.
Rule #1.Never tell anybody the location of a stash no matter what they offer! You can take a person to the stash but never tell them.
Rule #2: To be taken to a stash , they must be "stash worthy" and this can only be determined after taking the candidate on a long pointless hike to a false stash that isn't very good and see if they keep a positive attitude. Stash worthin...

okay - how about a little baiting-
I am a single, cute, female and a pretty darn good skier and my friend is also single and stunning..... so, now will you tell us where the stash is. ;)
Stewie-I would recommend following the "Stash Worthiness Protocol" to get the most out of this offer.
Which is: You need to take them there instead of telling them the l...
Stewie, as your mentor, and with all due respect to Mary, I would suggest you hold out for pictures.

I think it is a hard lesson to learn- settle for what you have or keep climbing?
I was thinking about another option- we could have stashed our ski gear at the skiable stashes, continued on up to Muir with a light pack and yummy lunch, then head down and throw in a few laps prior to final descent.
Just Monday morning quarterbacking.... anyhow, it was an awesome day and there is nothing better than dinner over the campfire at dusk(thanks AMY!)
Now, I see that Silas is in Argentina...

I even enjoyed being with my parents ;D
It's amazing what one can tolerate for a nice hike and ski! ;)
Way to get after it!
Chris-
It appears that your outdoor lodging has taken a dramatic swing to the posh compared to the ghetto tarp. ;)
Nice pics and report!

Thanks for the TR! Tales of long stretches of corn warm the soul.
Great photos Jason (I took a gander at your webpage on a hunch). Looks and sounds like y'all had fun!
Harmonic collapse isn't a term I've heard before - can you elaborate further?

A great weather weekend and fun trip for patch skiing/recon backpacking!
We found the real stash just around the corner ;), who knew what a difference the aspect can make for steep and deep September freshies ::) ; the rest was the usual September suncups, but still good fun.

Nice photos, glad everyone out this weekend had a good one. The weather was great and the skiing was pretty darn great for September :D.
Very nice photos. I think we were admiring your tracks. I wish we'd stayed at that elevation, as everything higher was really nasty!
great write up Dan. Each one keeps getting better and better.
I posted something on cascadeclimbers with some pics, if anybody's interested.

Oh, yes, we are... At least this 80 kg mass is. Secret stashes are, perhaps, better kept secret.
Glad to see you had fun on a stellar day!

Mr. Burns, two more pairs of skis were on that mountain behind you. See September Laps and Recon TR . . . Sorry that we missed a chance to meet more TAYers.
Cool report and great photos!
We were on Rainier Saturday and had a great day.
We saw a total of four pairs of skis- and they were all ours!
"Secret stashes" are for mid-winter powder! You should share your favorite spots for September and October- the "masses" aren't interested.

Sweet Dan, nice to finally meet you! I'll try and get some photos up soon (day or two).
Excellent, and nice photos! These four September turners were slogging our way up to Camp Muir. We've been wanting to do the Ptarmigan Ridge for some time and will have to give it a try.
Nice, thanks for the conditions update. Might try to hit it this coming weekend.
Charles:
Given that TAY is your brainchild, I am merely grateful to have a community hitching post such as this one to associate with. Keep up the good work, slips and all.
All of the natural signs I use to gauge winter's arrival are pointing to early and deep. The local natives use the height and date of the fireweed bloom to predict winter. This was fairly accurate measure when I lived in AK. Mine at the house grew over 10 feet tall this summer, and bloomed in 3d week of J...

[Looks like some skiers don't think Ullr will deliver the September goods this year?
<anti jinx>Hmmm, nonbelievers, an unoptimistic breed. On Sept. 17th last year the kine winds delivered 6in of blow-er at Mt Hood. Why just 2 weeks before there were ladies skiing and riding in their underwear.</anti jinx>
Wow Silas! Nice work on las vueltas del sur! I hope you get the storm your looking for, can't wait to see more pics, hasta luego!
Congrats Holly ,that's a fun way to pull it off!
Way to go Holly!....there are far worse habits 8) PS Slush cup video starring you and a few others coming soon!...Jerry
