i'm in New Zealand right now with Cass. we skied Cardrona today. we'll try Treble Cone tomorrow.
Those 'roos seem to find you interesting. Probably never seen home-made skis before.
after Thredbo, the next day we skied Perisher Blue. it's a very nice resort with lots of square footage, but the vert is about half that of Thredbo -- Thredbo has over 2100 vf. of gain. the sky was crystal blue and the snow so, so soft. i overheard a local talking to his mate on the cell and saying that snow was the best its been in 18 years.
on our way back to Newcastle we stopped for a quick stomp around the bush. it took a few tries but i finally snuck up on them:

I have heard of hikers getting in trouble because of snow on Coast Mt. trails this summer. Whistler's webcam shows lots of snow on Whistler's north side. However, W/B will not let you on it. I have heard that there is still lots of snow up there to ski, but I can not give you any first hand reports.
Hey Bob-O, any accessible snow left in the Coast Range these days? Jus' curious.
We skied @ Treble Cone 3 years ago--great locals, good snow up high. How'dja like the access road? ::)
BTW, if you bring back a bottle of 42 Degrees South honey vodka, I'll pay you well for it.....

way to be, Toe. Where's Weepay?
Despite a low New Zealand snowpack (them Aussie's are stealing all the snowfall this year >:( ), the skiing is still fun (even found a few powder stashes left at the Treble Cone ski area yesterday, a few days after the last snow storm, accessed by some in-bounds hiking).

Skierlyles - It's really tough to give decent, responsible feedback to these kind of questions, to folks that you care about when you know little or nothing about them or their experience level. Of course if you were a highly experienced mountaineer, maybe the only question you might still be asking is "where was that" unless you recognized the area from the pictures.

Good on 'ya, mate, and nice call bringing the skis to the think tank!
Hey Kam, nice that you were able to gain a "hall pass" from the padded room. Thanks for sharing your photos and adventure, will be looking forward to more of the same. Be a good boy so you can get out again ;).
Sweeeet.
Nice trip, Kamster.
Can't wait to see more photos.

Kam,
Nice terrain features on the first photo. Looks like the Southern Hemisphere is having a good ski season.

I was thinking of heading up to Paradise this weekend to get some turns in and wanted to clarify the locale of your recent outing. I am also going to fly solo so wanted to know what the cracks and such looked like if any, and if you do/do not reccomend a solo outing. Looked like you all had some ropes in case so I assume there are manageable crevasses/cracks in that area?

Jeanette - I think you're ready for the Park Headwall ;)
That Wasn't the Park Headwall?? ???

Too bad that you were a week late to join us in July,Wickstad. Congrats on the TTPs cover picture.
I'm sure we'll hook up one of these days. Elisa took the picture. I told Mitch how proud I was of her. I tried to do the same for a snowboarder that we met but I chopped off the top of Mt. Baker.

I was one of the two hikers with skis that you may have seen on one of your runs. It was about 10 and you were passing two backpackers at the top of the run. We continued on to the Sholes Glacier. I'll file a report tomorrow.BTW the second peak is Sherman, not Colfax. (' :)

Summer corn produces some stellar ski conditions.
Yesterday was one of them.
The skiing was perfect; the access was, well, August.
I've seen worse; might see it next month ;)

Jas - who had the baby? A certain friend 'east of the crest' I take it....
Yep, the future badass, Tygh Manfredi. I'll have to take him down the n face of shuksan one of these days to celebrate his b-day. Or I imagine it will be the other way round. :)

Still looks good up there---and thanks for the same-day vicarious thrill. :D

I had my pack ready to go to follow in your footsteps. That's how much I was stoked, then my best friend called (as I was putting gear in the car) to say he had a healthy baby, so felt it would be wrong to not go visit. Family and friends come before skiing :)
:D Nicely done. Reading your TR I can almost smell the fresh air myself.

sweet! hows the traverse across the colmen-demning to the north ridge looking?
I've never gone over there myself but here is what I believe to be our best picture of it from yesterday. Please ignore the actual subject of the photo.

Mmmm. Spam and Peanut Butter!
...
Now the real question is...would you still eat any of the food? ;D
The spam is still good!
Well, "good" may not be the right word.
The neighbor kids were curious about spam, so we gave them a can to take home. We received a grossed-out phone call a few minutes later.
I cant belive that guy skiied across most of broadway!! although he was roped,, they skiied the entire couloir on belay, I wonder who skiied it first without a rope?
The next tricks for you to teach Stewart are "Rope Gun" and "Great job breaking trail, kid!".

On your route Photo Ryan, is the kain face to the left of the North Face. I wasn't sure if that is the North face seen in the upper right of your route photo.
The Helmet-Robson col is out of sight beneath and in front of the summit. To get to the north face from the approach we took you'd have to cross the col and traverse to it, out of sight...
Hey Greg,
Fantastic to hear you made it out!!! Nice job readeeming your July turns :)
Derek and I are heading out to ski next weekend-would love some company if you're up for it.

Cool route photo Ryan... it's the first one I've seen that makes your ascent make sense to me.
