No, we were over too far I think. We didn't see a soul until right before we crested the TG, we saw two people top out Liberty Cap via what we guessed to be LR route. I heard ryanl skied the E Success Coulior that day...might have been him.
So many people up there in so many places I have no idea who was who or where they where.

Ha, that proselytizer up north has apparently had his faith shaken...I hear he's starting another cult.
Wasn't that the intention all along?
How high did you guys get in January? Going from Longmire is most definitely the purist way to go. Wow that's a big day!
Hope everything went smoothly with your brother....

I have the $65 yearly life flight insurance
That sounds like a worthwhile investment for sure.
Dale - Best wishes for a speedy recovery and hope to see you out on the mountain when you're well! I have the $65 yearly life flight insurance (mostly for two week long backcountry excursions into Hells Canyon and the Eagle Cap Wildernesses) and have been trying to convice my partners to get it as well. Your story might make the difference. Thanks for sharing.
Dude, I have looked at this route so many times from Gauthier's guidebook! I want to ski this one too. Cool report as always. Anyone want to jump on this one with me? Please?
Congrats on your ascent/descent Heinz! From our perch, it looked like you guys carved out a cool little bivi spot. Gorgeous day out there!
There are certainly rock fall issues on this route, but I'm not sure I would use the term "DEATH CLIMB" early in the season when there's adequate snow coverage.
An early start and descent helps from the rock fall standpoint and, as we found, a snow quality standpoint as well. We found lots of mush by 12:30PM.

JW nice Job, The tracks were very impressive, I was glad to see them make it the whole way to the wilson :) That was me and my buddies that you talk to on the way up to camp trying to decide where to camp. We set our selves up nicely to enter the finger early in the morning but the fatal flaw was that we post holed in the rotten breakable crust to the finger as there wasn't a boot pack yet. Other than that we had a fantastic time on the the...
Nice TR - thanks. That was a loooong slog. Youth has it's advantages. ;)
yeah Ryan, way to catch it in primo shape--beautiful line. i'm envious, we had some challenging conditions in Jan., and exposed rock bands too.

Thanks Dan. That's what I get for skiing the easy stuff! Still looking forward to a beer at Charlie's. Let me know if you get in the area. Remember, it's not what you see that gets you- it's what you don't see! Keep the adventures coming!
Group of us were up there Saturday. We dropped into the Chutes about 2:30 and were just a little late. The upper 1/3 was a bit icy due to the COLD westerly winds blowing through. The middle 1/3 was great corn, but the rest was schmoo, actually deep in places. It was fun though!! We followed some boot tracks out of that basin around 7500ft and ended up right below the Crescent on the South Side. We were all happy with this until the death march down the road. G...
nice job! looks like great snow conditions.
hope you heal well and soon Ashlie
Awesome! way to get; ripper report.
Holy Sh#% Dale!
sounds like an awful, scary experience.
my wishes are with you for a speedy recovery.

Glad to see the lower two rock bands filled in!
Nice work!! I met you and Amos (sp?) right below the summit. He wasn't sporting those kick ass glasses, though! Glad to see you had a great ski/board down. :)
Dale,
Thanks for sharing the details. A speedy recovery to you my friend!

Cool! We were a couple hours ahead of you, skied off the top of Fortune around 11:30AM, then down the SE bowl.
It was great to run into you two at the trailhead, Sheek-Daddy. The company was welcome and it's always fun to share. Thanks for the pics.
Great day up there for sure. we skied the chutes at 12:30 and it was perfect. we also skied a line skiers left off the summit that lets you bypass the crappy snow from the summit. Glad you had a good time, I like your dogs' sunglasses!

and full on non-randonee alpine shit kicker rad free skiing jibber boots
- god Reed how do you do it in those!
real glad Ryan you felt tons better and had such a terrific climb and ski, safely (!)
Great job out there!! -and being flexible to have to modify your plans as much. Sorry for you the traverse got so melted out. Glad you still found it better than the West side road approach. and sure nice you met up with Pete A and Ross to simplify the way down.
Wow, what a difference just a week makes. When Ryan and were on the Tahoma, the route finding was pretty straight-forward, made the ski a fun, pretty direct way down.
Nice Ryan! We were looking at the SGC on the way out of the Park. It looked good!
Great to read the adventure y'all had before meeting you up top. Nice job!
Hey,
We didn't get Stuart, but we did have some fun skiing.
The accident sucked, but I'm glad we all worked together so well to deal with the issue.
The whole thing did inspired me to look at and register with this site (maybe that's a bad thing ;) )

Nice and solid work both last weekend and this past! I think we saw you guys as you were on your way up. We were wondering if intentions were the ESGC. I wish we had got to see the tracks...definitely one of the few really awesome and still filled in routes!
Very nicely done Stugie! What a cool link-up and carryover!
We admired those tracks on the way out. Nice work.

Hope you do it but wear nylons like Stugie
Eh, Chris? Are you going to become a crossdresser too? :D
Thanks Stugie! It was an exhilarating ski. Did I talk with you guys on the skin up on the day prior?
Thanks Holly and David!
Molly and I had a blast with you guys. And I can tell you from experience that father-daughter stuff wouldn't have been nearly so cute if you guys weren't there. There would have been pouting and meltdowns and hissy fits and foot stomping - and that would have been me! I'm proud of Molly for climbing so hard and long - and proud of you (Holly) and your comeback! Thanks too, David for insisting we rope up to cross all of those sled tracks. I felt...

Nice Pete! Kyle and I saw your tracks down the thumb and were duly impressed with the Schrund hopping!
Damn. Nice job on the Kautz. That looked bitchin.
Bramvs: snow was on the road a mile before the trailhead.
Joe: someone once advised me butter, cheese, ice cream and skiing were the best four pronged approach to recovery. Pretty sure I ate a stick of butter the day before (I butter just about everything), ate a significant amount of pepper jack to power me up the Roman Wall escalator, skied to my heart's content this weekend (okay, I could always do with more skiing, but it was enough to satiate) and finished off with a generou...

Glenn_B and Company,
A good day for all, including dogs. Not that there was one mind you. The north face of Fortune was creamy. A little more melt and there'd be swimming in Lake Ingalls. Not that I am hurrying up the season. Too many more routes to ski before the dirt season.

Not sure if that was true or not, but it looked that way from our vantage. Thanks again.
I would be interested in knowing if anybody has had any experience with SPOT and a successful rescue claim. Thanks to all of you for your wishes and providing me with the closest thing to climbing I'll get for awhile.
Thanks for a great trip Stewart and Rob.
We took bivvy bags instead of a tent and it was incredible watching the stars during the night while lying in my bivvy listening to music on my ipod.
At one point a lenticular had formed directly overhead and was being illuminated by the crescent moon and was glowing and I thought the mothership had finally come to take me back to my home planet. ;D
