Randy, hit the same spot today. It was great. Saw your tracks surprised that they had not been totally covered with new. I had the impression it had snowed more. By the time I reached the top it began to dump.

I think I left only moments before. There was definitely a cluster F&$# at the parking lot entrance when I left. If the snow was wet and heavy in that parking lot I would have been parking my Subaru right behind you.

Also... that snow was really deep and fun.

Did you all year my little yelling spat with Alpental employees? I'm not proud of driving a two wheel drive with bald tires...but the parking lot was not an option for my car. Hence a park job on the side of the road. Then Alpental employees blamed me for a delivery truck getting stuck when he ditched it on the other side (read: plenty of space and um... delivery truck on unplowed roads? really?)

We were up at Crystal on Saturday too. Saw a line of folks skinning up under Quicksilver and a well established skin track headed towards Bullion, so we opted for the road less traveled, splitting the difference and ending up lapping the Pickhandle Pt and Bear Gap areas. There was evidence of windloading on north-facing slopes and some minor loose snow slides and sluffing below cliff bands, however stability was good, so we skied:

Yeah! it was pretty good up there today, i was up tele'in on pontoons and it was a great day to bring out the fatties. If it snows much more though, steeper slopes are gonna be needed to make any real turns. I ventured onto some of the "ungroomed" areas and had a hard time maintaing any speed in the deeper snow. maybe central or alpental will have enough coverage after the storm(s)?

Between the Pacific crest quad and Dodge Ridge the hill had been groomed on Saturday- making pretty decent skiing with 8"+ new on top. Decent enough for a couple of laps with my 9yo.

Good call. The telemetry numbers indicate 9" since 5am. If the forecast holds up, Monday morning should be nice. ;)

If that amount gets doubled, it should be very fine. I went home because I was tired of hitting terrain irregularities under the snow surface in flat light.
