heck yeah Eric!
That's such an awesome line.
did you ride the w face last winter?
Was pretty happy to get the N face this time.
Actually, that is pretty reasonable for a full day of Heli...I did`nt even know we had this in the Cascades (I have flown with Chugach Powder Guides in Alaska) I will now have to look into this; thanks for posting this!
Maybe John should have taken it easy on his feet and done one lap. ;)
nice photos and video Stefan.

Mary and I skied the same line yesterday for the first time following some faint tracks into the main chute. However, there had been a fairly large slide that ran all the way to the bottom and appeared to have been triggered by a skier whose tracks went off to the side into the trees. We had already committed to the run and skied the debris >:(, at least knowing it was safe.

It makes me wonder if that is the same cat we almost ran into, missing by a few minutes, back in December??

John, I forgot to mention that we saw what were likely cougar tracks going down the road from the parking lot overlook - - just like the ones we saw! They were probably 1 or 2 days old; further down they were obscured by snowmobile tracks, which w...
always fun to see a winter ski on maude .. way to go
sweet conditions, so much so that John lapped it up twice... though no use talking conditions two days later. Excellent company for sure, always worth a mention.
Glad you got something up, nice pics - my vids sent my HD over the brink... I shoulda seen it coming. Mega and kilos of shoveling later I finally got something up - my first vimeo vid, threeand-ahalf minutes of Red Mountain: http://vimeo.com/20157645

A rare smile
Nice. Looks like a great line guys.
Nice work, I've stared at those lines many times but only ascended from the Summerland side. Great to see someone exploring up there this time of year and putting it all together.
I suspect that Joedabaker has beta on previous descents.

Awesome! Love the second shot looking down the face - I can imagine the great turns below.
The snow in the W-facing old growth was sweet pow until you got close to the PCT where it had been pretty tracked up. The luge exit was snow-plowable when needed, so not bad. Beautiful day.
Hey Lar,
It is great to see that the snow returned to the front side for you two. Sounds like it was fun. Good skiing, good tracking. It makes me wonder if that is the same cat we almost ran into, missing by a few minutes, back in December??

Scotsman is correct. We were doing a full day of heli-assisted riding. The normal cost is around $970 a day. However, if you get lucky you can sometimes snag a cancellation for approximately $780 per day. Extra bumps over the guaranteed seven will run you $75 each. NCH often announces cancellations on their web site. You'll also find all the pricing info there.

Nice pictures! Wish Monika and I had the weather and snow conditions you all had. Fun route regargless.

Looks like a blast. So was this pure heli-climbing, or their "heli-assisted touring," or what? If the latter, how much actual climbing did you end up doing each day, versus roughly how much heli-climbing?
Seamus is a kick (he was our pilot for our trip to/from Barron Yurt last winter).
Jim, sounds like it was full heli( 13 bumps etc). From my experi...

Are you saying I just went for it? ::) Your probably right...I did look over my shoulder before committing to the choke ;D
Uhmm...Maybe, but it may have settled even more in one day and what we skied was more or less deep with surface movement. But you never know that is, just haunting memories coming back. Either way IT WAS AMAAAZZZING!!!!!
Thanks for the report. Especially conditions on the different aspects.

We skied it pretty systematically, discussing the slide potential as we went down, rather than a one shot run, we were concerned more for our safety than just having one sweet fall line run. Been in to many slides now to not justify a safe ski verses just going for it. ;)

Joe is there a sun crust out there now?
What are you up to on Monday?
I'm open on Monday.
The sun just blasted Crystal Lakes basin yesterday, maybe some proto corn out there today when it melts, but we need another cycle and hope for a good bond. The peak proper would still be a great ski, there were a couple lines I wanted to hit on the left, but...
Hi Pete,
I met you at the end of Snow Lake on the way out. Nice talking with you guys, and seeing your Monika Kitty. Great pictures of your tour - thanks!, because mine came out crappy.
After I discovered there were little slices of un-sun-affected powder going down to Source Lake I had a really nice ski down to the luge run. If I stayed tucked into a north side of one of the little creek drainages, it was still very soft..

Hi Blitz,
Missed you by a day. Brad and I did the circumnav yesterday. We jealously saw your ski tracks all the way, thinking "Wow, they had first tracks all the way!" And thank you - you did leave us plenty of our own. I hope you get some pictures up, since mine came out terrible.
Big Steve - we tag teamed with your "Groupon" tour all day - nice skiing with you all.

Great stuff as usual, you two. Thanks for the report. Anastasia & company saw the Paradise fox over in the Tattoosh the other day -- cool to find traces of the critters around.

I would also like to add a comment about gear. Outer hardshells to be specific. I had gotten increasingly wet over the last year or so as my 13 year old Patagonia Storm parka delaminated inder the pack straps. After getting drenched in our previous trip it was suggested that I sent my parka back to Patagonia for warranty. I thought that was a little over the top, but with the cost of a replacement at $400+ I decided to try. I was totally amazed to get a credit for my old on...

Great pictures! I've left Washington, and I sure miss Snoq. Pass. Thanks for letting me visit vicariously.
Groovy! We did it today. Spectacular!
BTW, Anita wants to do a tour with you :)
