Awesome!!!!!!!!!

Quite deserved as well!
Scott, you are dead to me...

Kidding! Nice decent you guys. As the saying goes, "There are no friends on a stable weather forecast in Washington."

stefan, let's talk...
Third times a charm!!! Nice work
verrry nice!

as one of the cards lost in the shuffle, and my nose deep in the beta, I'm up for it whenever the conditions are again as ripe as they were. Just let me know John...

To be honest this whole TR is just ryanl bait. Miss ya buddy.

wish i could join you but.... (fill in the blank). As it is, I'll look forward to your return. you are coming back, right?
Fantastic.  I will be at my cabin there for 2 weeks starting on the 27th.  I have actually been secretly hoping for spring though, as we have been skiing, here in the NW, in the cold, the rain, and the snow, all winter now.  After all it is spring now, and there is nothing like a good corn harvest in Tahoe.  It will still be fantastic skiing with my Tahoe buddies no matter what the conditions.

Picture from earlier this winter
I should have dropped you a line Runcle, I went searching for Seuss yesterday as well.  I was apparently too far south of you to find the land of make believe but I did see some traces:

I also came across some unreal lines:

The Olympics are looking p...
Those look like some pretty big cornices you got going up there Gary.  I hope to make a trip out to see you and Jan before they let loose.  Maybe we could coax one or two loose.   ;D
Great pics Jay.  I wish I could have joined you but as you know my strong pariotism prevents me from gracing Canada with my superior American form (or until I get a passport)

Did you guys road-trip the Prius?
That looks like a good choice of terrain fellas.  Thanks for sharing the photos Scott.

Congrats on the sponsorship deal Kyle.  Maybe I'll jump on a treadmill so that we can chase down something remote this spring.

(Dan is my secret hero)

My, oh my, that is the air that should be there
A forgotten land of rime and sunshine?

In that case, of course
you'll head straight out of town.
It's opener there
in the wide open Air.
Thanks for the report. I plan on spending the 2nd week in May on Shasta. Let it snow let it snow let it snow!!!
Where oh where was Runcle's journey?
That's a good sized cornice, glad to hear that nobody was hurt!

Click here to see another, smaller cornice release from the same day (Crystal backcountry).
Sweet!  I love Tam McArthur and the huts!  Stability has been sketch this year, but finding plenty of safe powder in there hasn't been too much of a problem.  The area and scenery are second to none for central Oregon.  Glad you had a good time!
sorry for the low quality pics, but I ran out of patience editing copies down to the measly 260kb size limit.
more pics, for some reason they wouldn't go with the OP
Hey Stugie, lets see some pics!
Good one....Nice job....Guys! Classic way to see the mountains!

Funny how I introduced Jake to Ziff have not had a call since....I guess being from BC I did not make the cut....
awesome! way to get after it!

Nice.

Were you the group heading out of Yodelin ~9?   We were starting up at about the same time.  I was wondering where you were headed...

Yodelin wasn't great.  Backside towards Mill Creek was very nice.  We had a couple people out for their very first tour so we didn't do many laps.

To more winter!

Hi trees4me,
...
Move it to NWhikers dude.  That kind of lawlessness is likely to get you an a** whooping.  However, nice work guys.  ;D
Your pictures and report are stellar.  Sounded, and looked, like quite a fulfilling trip.
Rally Ziff!

Sweet report, nicely done all.
Thanks for the TR and guidebook info. I passed by those on the way to Silver Star last month, looking for and not seeing any tracks, and was wondering about the opportunities and access. Neat area.

Amazing tour in a single day Ryan and gents.  8)  You are a machine.  The couloir looks inviting, I plan to head up next month and tag it, thanks for the stoke!

Very cool way to see the super moon, glad you had a good trip!
Glad to hear the snowpack was cooperating with your plans.  looks like  a beautiful day in the backyard.  Did the strong winds on sunday affect the area? Hope to get up there next weekend.
Just one "educational" pic.  The big fracture line across, maybe a few feet deep...
Man that looks like a fun day....nice work
Thanks for sharing the realities of backcountry touring.  Your groups observations and decisionmaking made it a safe "roundtrip".
WOW, great TR and photos.  The embedded video clips were nice.  You guys are climbing machines.   ;)
Thanks for the report. Well, at least I've shared the experience of staying the Merrit Super 8 a few times. On trips home from the Selkirks where we got out late. I've tried to convince my pals to go up and try some of those slopes but they're always eager to get home after a hard week of skiing further NE.  I appreciate the inspiration to go make it a destination all unto itself sometime.
Great TR Ryan!  And thanks for a great day.  That sure was a fun way to spend the last day of winter.
Fantastic photos and narrative Ryan!
The tears are welling....beautiful report Ryan.  Wistful and celebratory.  Loved seeing and reading the words.
