Way to fight the jet lag! Looking forward to grand scenery photos and maybe even some boot top or so powder shots, and of course, an obligatory food/wine shot as well  ;).
Do you use skin wax?  I use it more than 2/3 the time?

You gotta love when that happens to the skins, eh. Nice trip.
Wow, strong work.  That's a hell of a daytrip.

Is cedar creek steep enough that you can glide out without too much poling or sidestepping?
The mt loop is closed on the south side at red bridge and at barlow pass.  I always find it faster to drive via d-ton anyway...  Merrybrook road is where I parked, about 500' below where I parked in february (both at snow patches).  :)

Jim -  shoot me a pm if you ever want to go explore.
cool.  I've been wanting to get into that area for a while.   That's quite the day trip.  Sounds like cedar creek is the way to go!
Did you get all the way to N. Gardener via Huckleberry ridge and peak 7850 ? I believe your #3 photo is 7850 and Gardner would be behind that. That's a long tour . Good work !
Thanks thought I had.
you need to open up your privacy settings on facebook if you would like to share your photos from the trip. or put them on photobucket or something like that
Very Nice!!

Sounds like a fun day.

Which way did you drive in from?
Grabby wet snow with many tree bombs.  The kind of snow that won't release your tails and sends you careening towards large trees.  In places where there was even a dusting of fresh it was much more manageable.
Cool, I'd like to knock that one off too (being the Mt. Loop aficionado I am).

Challenging in the trees below that by 11 am.

What kind of challenging?

Thanks in advance.
wow, that looks fantastic!!!!  nice powder 11's through the aspens.

Thanks for the road update! I think the N. Fork Teanaway is going to look a lot different next time I see it. Lot's of logging on the North side. Did you guys ascend Cascadian? It looks to me like your turns down are in the "variation" that faces more East? Just wondering...
Great pictures Donni.  Sorry I missed the trip down the slot.  Will have to wait for a local (Ryan???) to help me find the thing.

It was a wonderful evening.  Thanks to all for putting together it together.  There was lots of love for Monika in the Guye Cabin Saturday night.....

It was great to see you Mike. And you too Lefty, Pete, and Gregg. No doubt in my mind Monika had something to do with keeping that pow fresh for you guys. She loved you all.

Not cool, though, to drive down form Bham, poach the local stash, and then spray about it. At least you did it with a hangover. Nice style.....

I understand how Scott can't get enough of that line.

Nice work guys and glad you had epic conditions.

Well done y'all, thanks for the report.

Did you see the crown from Wednesday's slide as you approached the slot entrance?  Curious what kind of stability you were seeing in the area.

Thanks.
Hey Cohey, Here's a few pics from the day. Good to see you & Lefty and glad Mr. Bush came along for the journey as well. If Monika was with us, she would of made us ski it probably 2 more times! (I see you are working hard this Monday morning!)
Kath....

Very nice photos!

love the perspective you have there.  Wish more photographers would work on postioning themselves like that instead of traveling with their subjects for the close up action shots.

ha!

It's starting to seem like it, eh John? Have to go back at least one more time this year.

It was all Eric's idea. I was just a last minute passenger.

definatly don't mind being a dirty repeater. The line was the same, but we did it with a little more style this time. Can't beat sic minestrone and torttellini miles from nowhere with great company.

Great snaps. Love the pic of your ski tips Eric. Can't wa...
Oh man...that looks wonderful. Way to get back out there.
I do love that picture and the others are great as well. I look forward to seeing the footage as well.
Awesome! Nice work getting out there. Love that you found good snow...but bummer about the clouds coming in. The view is amazing from up there.
Looks like a beautiful hut to spend a couple of powder days.

I really wonder if Crystal is staying open until June this year to bring in as much cash flow to pay off the new Gondy and are unlikely to do so in the future.
...

I agree that the Gondola is a big reason why they are experimenting with an extended season this year.  Whether they run an extended season in the future will probably depend larg...

Actually no, Alpental and Crystal are managed by the same company, not owned.
CNL owns Alpental, Boyne Resorts is contracted to manage. Crystal Mountain is owned by Boyne.

Doesn't it seem to be more likely the case that Boyne would shut down operations earlier at Snoqualmie to encourage patronage at their resort then? Of course, I've never managed...
Was up around Table from 930 to 1300 on Thursday the 7th. Both the Table (n'ly) and Herman (s'ly) avalanches had run before then.

In talking with the guy putting out the "High" hazard sign at the TH at 930 Thurs, he said they got a good hit from the sun around 1400 the day before and a handful of storm slabs released naturally.

Damn good skiing on N'ly slopes in the alpine/treeline on Friday for sure . . .

Your Ruby trip looked great Jason. I better put it on my list. Problem is, things get on my list faster than they come off it.
Thanks for the great info and detailed list of ski options, Gary.

The only one of those which I've tried yet is Wonderland Trail to Rampart Ridge and into Van Trump Park, which we did intentionally in early January 2009 while the road was closed at Longmire for several weeks, due to the landslide on Glacier Hill past Nisqually Bridge.

We got to the park entrance just after 11am, and the ranger informed us that the road would be closed all day. WTF!! In numerous winter trips to the park, that's the first time I've actually had the road not open at all (endured many many late openings, obviously). What to do?

Way to make use of the day ebeam and co!  I was going to give you a ring if the weather window was big enough for a multi-day adventure.  As it was, a couple of friends and I went up and stayed in my parents cabin in marblemount after sampling this:  http://cascadeclimbers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1012810

We also did not see any instability on north slopes, nor evidence of recent slides. I was a bit surprised, given the avi activity near the ski areas immediate...
It was great running into you guys and hearing about your day when we met up again in the afternoon.

You know you made it big time when you have a "the" before your name.  ;)
I agree that photo (and others on the link) is amazing. That was some of the harder bootpacking I encountered this season, waist deep the whole way up.

It was my first time on Lane but I had drooled at the line for years.

Thank you for a memorable experience.
Thanks for the tip, Andrew and Amar for the pointer and commentary.
Outstanding photos Kath!  :D
Kyle and Jake, outstanding effort!  ;)
I like your idea of a short trip, old guy! Thanks for having me along on another of your adventures!
Awesome trip!  The north powder was amazingly stable.  I was checking the slope angle with my slope meter and was supprised to see that at 45 degrees we weren't getting any sluffing but on slopes approaching 50 was when minor sluffing occurred.  What a excellent day.
Thanks guys for a good short day.

i think this might be one of my all time faves ..

Kath, that is one prize-winning all-time best amazing photo! It deserves to be poster-size on the wall to keep the mountain motivation dreams flowing.
