I havn't heard of any ski descents from the summit. But my knowledge might be limited. That might be the allure of it.
+1 .. I appreciate the conditions update and don't care or want to know the exact location (to minimize the herd mentality)
Now that's a vacation. Strong work guys!

The pass is not exactly a secret spot
Well said. There's a million pieces of woods and mountains at the pass for an adventurous soul to check out. Conditions are super helpful, thanks.
Besides, if Haggis is anything like my friends and I, names of "runs" our touring areas could be named but it would be names that nobody else would unders...
Its good information if you read it. The pass is not exactly a secret spot, its a dawn patrol, so figure a 3 hr round trip from the car on a SW aspect and you'll find it pretty quickly. Just a trend taken from Trumpetsailor and Silas wild who never post location at the pass so I followed suit. See thread in random tracks about same by Kyle Miller.

Is this a trend to just mention aspect and elevation?
No. Only elevation info from now on. Any cryptics beyond are superfluous.

Noticed at least a 4ft crown on NW exposure at aprox 38-40 degree slope, in the trees at 6000ft in the Southback from patrol blasting. Maybe 40 ft wide, big results. It was rumored that it was enough to maybe not open the South today. Thank goodness that was only chatter. Still some pockets of persistent weak layers on N-NW exposures. Uhh...I hate roulette. Lots of sun today, but really limited sun effect considering how bright it was all day. Still it left a minor crust on top of untouched powd...
I've thought about that line, but decided I like being alive. Ever been done? Here's a close-up picture:

Good stuff. The pillow lines looked really fun.
I need to get back up there!

Wonderful! Hourglass, Ursa Trees and Bruins. Last section at Bostock? We overlapped our trips. Was there Feb.25th through March 1st. Great video!!
I too have been wondering what was up there!! Thanks for the recon information-- another possible gem like Black Butte. That would be a great little break from the drive over to the valley..
Nice - I've been meaning to check out Nash for a couple of years now. It definitely takes a good snowpack and low elevation snowfall. I bet the cinder on the south side wouldn't take too much snow though to yield turns. Nice work!
Great video. I am hoping to see part 2 soon as a group of us are heading up Monday for a week and I would love to see some more photos and hear your snow report. Thanks!
Nice vid gorp, looking forward to the full report.
I covet those Cilogear packs. Your friends should share.

Sick line indeed. And you did it with one sock on. I am proud of you!
Those are some awesome trips you've been hitting in the park, Kyle. A snomo really opens up a ton of cool possibilities. Sweet videos.
Glad to hear you were unhurt with the slab you triggered. I think I'd have to change my underwear after that. Do you have any lessons learned from the close call?

Enjoyable video. Looks like great snow with a fun group.
Kyle and Boot, thanks for sharing your recent adventures and returning the focus of why we visit TAY. The first video had some wonderful segments. As the trees were tightening around the 6:15 mark, I kept wondering where's the slot as you put on the brakes. ;)
You guys are trail breaking machines !

2 guys in the group brought a total of 5 cilogear packs... ::)
Thanks for sharing a great TR and photos of an area seldom visited by snow sliders.
Great video. Looks like fun up there.
How many CiloGear packs were in the group?

Nice TR Ale! Looks like a fun tour!
nope. it warmed up about 40 degrees to 20F...
did you have to deal with the uber cold you were expecting?
Amar delivering the goods again. Very cool!
Glad to see you access this, especially in the winter! I skiied in that area many summers ago, up the N. Barrier Peak chute. It was very icy then, but my friend and looked around and determined that the entire basin - Barrier, Tamanos and Governors Ridge - is a worthy spring destination. Hope to hit it again soon...
scott! what a day and what a dog! heidi (my berner) and I want to go dog skiing with you. heidi will have to work up to a day THAT big. :)

I still need to ski Eldorado.

Nice work guys and nice write up Amar! A couple summers ago I found myself riding the Fryingpan Glacier and looking at the Sarvant's, wanting to ride but not having enough time for an extended trip. It sure looked good though! Way to get it done - in winter to boot!
looks like you rode eldorado though by the view...?
Not too interested in a line like that now that I have a little one. Not going to stop skiing the good stuff though.
Hope you met some Pro skiers and told them you couldn't believe they were pro because your so much better than them!
Looks a committing line if your daddy did indeed do that.

I thought Kyle said they were his -- anyway, it's corrected now!

The second day Amar Joined us and we followed our old skin track up the Sarvant only to reach bad weather once again. Not wanting to retrace our steps once again we rode down the Sarvant then skinned up Tamanos col, rode down to Owyhigh lakes then traversed to the NW avi chutes of Tamanos where we rode a large avi swath to within a mile of the snowmos.

Yes, pretty sobering report and VERY helpful. The logic the author used was similar to the logic I would have used or maybe exact. I was in the area a couple weeks ago in the cirque to the lookers right or to the W/SW or up the White Pine valley one more over. Same logging road access. For what it's worth you can get higher in very thick timber on ridgeline terrain but like the swat...
Good info, thanks for that. And a location revealed to boot, albeit a popular one!
Wow Kyle, that runout on interglacier goes forever. Looks like a full day.
Silas you forget to mention why we bailed. 8-10" soft slabs on hoar frost have formed and are EXTREMELY touchy up on mt snoqualmie right now. The warm & clear nights clearly did some damage. How many slides did we set off, 5, 6? We skiied the phantom slide since it was too sketchy to commit to the slot.
Here's some pics, one with a lovely sympathetic slide to our skintrack.

Thanks for posting. I stare at this area on the topo all the time and, as everyone else has mentioned, avoid it because of the low elevation slog in. Nice to see that it looks like the approach effort is worth it.

awesome stuff.
Im assuming your buddy is ok from that slide at the end of the first video?!?
Speaking of First Video: Who is that song by? That is awesome!
And...uh... after seeing the whole vid, I will have to re-ask the same question about your buddy and the Avy.
Wow.
