Sorry Marcus, I can't help myself:

People, we're not surfers. Let's leave the territorialism to that community- if you need a secret stash you should find a place that is secret. This place is so far from being secret that it's laughable. Plus, this is a sharing site, share away...    IMHO
Nice meeting you up there E.  We look like little rocks instead of people in that 1st picture of the summit.  Glad you guys skied from the summit!  I thought the climb over from the false summit was really fun and well worth the extra time.  Our party of 3, and the other party of 3, all skied the broad gully to the east of the Cascadian were you guys had ascended.  It had absolutely no debris in it (unlike the Cascadian) and was in perfect condition.  Big, fast turns on great snow...what a great...
Tim, I'll pull the post if you want me too.  Totally up to you.

If this is going to become another debate on "stash posting", it'd be good to have that in Random Tracks, not here.
Nice work Tim and good post.
Any secret rules from any group, should be broken.
Keep cranking and keep posting.

Nice trip! Awesome pic of Cayoosh! I am assuming that it wasn't taken the day of your ski? How much snow at the salt shed? Need more sunny days!
Yo Doug, did you find my F11 Megawatt and Marcus's Insane?  I finally made it out to the garage in the walker today and peeled the skin off the other one that made it!
Hum, I would have passed by this TR without noticing it if it hadn't been for all the responses.  Seems ironic that they are calling attention to something they want to keep secret.
There is an understanding amongst most of the Crystal BC regulars that by mutual agreement , certain areas are not talked or posted about. It took me a while to learn this.... and don't blame me 'cuz I never made the rules.......just reporting!

Marcus please delete this thread or we'll all come to the Pass and mass attack the Slot .
Looks like Daryl is surfing on some nice corn. ;)
Though I share the gut reaction, this is back there. How many actually get there before it gets beat by the conditions anyways? There are so many in Union, Cement, and East Peak that its fairly easy to follow a skin track if you're strong enough to enjoy it and more power to you. When I first skied this I thought about posting, but I didn't.
Great photos Amar. It was a great day to be out even on sticky snow and new kicks!
Way to take advantage of the weather window, thanks for the update.
It was cool to have you join us on the way up. The Edelweiss Bowl route is easier than it looks from the bottom.

Nice to see you get your 1st month in today. Keep an eye on TAY for good summer expeditions and ideas. Kind of like AA, only in reverse: "One month at a time..." Hope to see more of your reports, and to see the streak stay alive as long as possible.
left the skateboard at home Friday the 13th. booted the road only to find the rangers parked at the lakes (not fair!) practicing lowering someone off the north side of castle.  rode the south side of castle and the north facing saddle to the lakes in awesome corn favorably lacking in the sticking dept.

rangers mentioned the road would be open memorial day weekend. road is plowed all the way to stevens canyon, fyi.

i'm sunburnt.
I want to rephrase in a less sarcastic way; I am disappointed you posted this.
Why?  Why would you post this? (I don't really care, but a lot of people probally do.  Nothing personal.  I'm sure you're just sharing your enthusiasm for bc skiing.)
We call that area Chutesbekistan. Thanks for posting it; actually not.
Thanks Andy!  and thanks for the great write up

Here's a link to the vid

and some more pics over at nwhikers
Wow...outstanding you guys...Hey Drew, do you want to do another 'leisurely' lap and drag me up with Maya's Chariot??...good training weight i guarantee!!
Found avalanche debris at the bottom of the paradise glacier today. I'm assuming triggered by cornice failures.

Left lot 2 with Randy @ 5:45. Beautiful evening, only a few clouds and nobody else there. Just a couple of other guys heading up to do the Slot (where's your report?).

We did our Slot lap with at least 7-1/2 minutes of daylight left when we got down.  This was the third time in three weeks I dusk patrolled the Slot or Snot and last night sucked!  Collapsing...
They should officially change the name to Mt ShuksDan.

Note the big slide on the right side of second photo.  It went all the way to the ground and extends from the top of the ridge (approximately Left-Angle entry) with a headwall big enough to be visible from across the valley,  to a wide fan of mixed dirt and trees, ending well below the I-5 trail, doesn't break thru the trees to the road though.

That looks like a fun out of the way approach!  We went up and down near your descent route, but I've always wanted to get back to that area.

Royal Basin always dishes it out.  But this year is the year...

Thanks for the report!
Bold and imaginative.   The work of talented artists.  A sand mandala laid upon Shuksan's slopes.
Nice tracks boys!

Sweet line. Your tracks tempted me, but the laid back slopes were really nice.

Just to make sure we're talking about the same thing: I'm referring to the image where one of the party members is looking up and admiring his tracks. I'm not referring to the massive ice cliff. Is what I'm talking about a Bergschrund? It looks like it fits the description that I just read on wikipedia (newbie :) )

I think it is two views (pic 2 and 4) of the same spot.  I took it for a crown, too, until Lowell chimed in.  Hairy and scary, nonetheless.

If it is a Bergschrund, then I suppose it isn't such an avy red flag after all.

Just a question from someone learning the avy ropes: What methods did you use to determine that the snow above the crown in your pics was stable? Scares the living daylights out of me!

That's a bergschrund, not an avalanche crown. Not an answer to your question, I know, but a clarification.

I think "Hanging Glacier Headwall" would be a...
Nice first report Tim. It does momentarily take your breath away looking down from those runs and appropriately not taken lightly. I like the variation you skied with the rock wall on your right down into the hole. Gotta do those on the most stable of days since you are so trapped once you commit and have to cross run outs to exit. We never had a name for that area we always kept out of the publics eye, but Gnar seems appropriate.
Filthy nasty ass!

nice work you guys .. thx gary for the beta on those hikes up to goat lake .. and very sorry for the loss of sweet abby ... i feel your pain .. still missing our mountain companion after many yrs
Sweet work again, Drew and Dan.  Thanks for sharing it here.
Pure awesome.  Such a cool line.
Tyler’s early morning rally call provided a great opportunity trade a week’s worth of sea level’s challenges for a day spent traveling in the beautiful high alpine terrain of the eastern Olympics. Good call on the weather and the destination!  :)

Our goal for the day was the ridge line above Goat Lake and a ski descent into Royal Basin. This beautiful high alpine lake is nestled in a cirque at about elev. 6,000 ft just east of the ridge line which separates the Dungeness River drainag...
If you "right-click" on the image that you linked above you should get a list of options, one of which will be "Copy Image Location" (or something similar).  That should be the pathway that has the ".jpg".

This is what you should get:

Then you dump the [ IMG ] brackets on either end [ / IMG ]  (no spaces in any of...
Marcus, thanks for the info.  I see you successfully posted my last photo.  When I copy the link to that picture from Picassa, here is what I get:

https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/Qd2RCntif-HC-TNptF9IaTocyD4x6ylReVhlKLy3gxs?feat=directlink

As you can see, it does not end in .jpg or photo type format, so I need further guidance it would appear.  To post mine as you did, did you download it off Picassa to another site and then link to it from TAY in the fa...

Oh well, looks like my efforts to load photos via thumbnails from Picassa failed.....TAY is not an easy site to post photos I must say...

Any advice appreciated

Apologies Timmy -- the thumbnail script has been broken for a while now and I've not gotten to getting it taken care of...

The easiest way to post photos is to use the IMG tag,...
The shutes look sick! Awesome shots, especially the last one. Thanks for taking the time to post!
Sounds like you had a good trip!  I especially liked the photo of Mt Hood above the clouds, and crystal light mixed with some snow is hard to beat!

Dantastic!

That last photo reminds me of Brigg's Grand Teton shot.  Awesome stuff.
hella f***in balls to the wall awesome.
For the record, I had nothing to do with the "fast summit cuddle fest". In fact I think I advised against it.  ;)
Did a short tour today due to recovering from a cold, hacking and coughing; I was surprised to see some rather big avy debris in Edith basin and most slopes had lots of snowballs etc. covered with a skiff of new snow.  I was out of there by noon, but skied everything from packed powder to breakable crust over slush.
I probably saw you - I arrived at Muir around 2pm (girl on K2 Gotbacks).  Sad day indeed.  We also considered Nisqually Chute, but decided against for the same reasons you did.  Nice corn up high on the snowfield, and heavy glop below pan face.
Sweet pics, Stefan, love the silhouette shot below Stujack.
