Sour grapes.
Self-promotion is just not as shocking anymore as you would want us to believe. Chris is out busting his but trying to make a living at what he loves to do. More power to him.

They did have snowmobile assistance at least out of the Three Sisters and possible in too. Davenport states they received snowmobile assistance out here. They may have had assistance in too as their mile...

Yeah Josh, this feels like one of the most persistent colds I've had in many years. Today is two weeks from first symptoms, and I'm still coughing. Definitely think it was the common cold and not the flu, since I had no fever at any point, but there's no way to really know for sure. I'm hopeful that it is almost done now.

Hopefully no-one was seriously harmed in the filming of this video? :)
The sound really makes the vid !
Have to update the ski resume from "does not huck" to "hucks" ;D

Very happy you didn't take us into scenes like the second photo when I took your intro to ski touring course back in the day.
Great to see your post here Martin. Thanks.
PS, I saw Ben H. sledding on N. 71st and Dayton this past winter. He was smiling and going for it like a kid in paradise.

Gives me a tight stomach just reading the report and looking at the picture.
Nice tour, and a "double" to boot. Spring time in the PNW is unmatched by anywhere else in the country! Just a note; Your pic entitled "not sure" is Big Snow Mt out off the Middle Fork. That's a place I hope to check out before this season is over......
Sorry Niko, I can't recall if Klawatti had slid or not!
Some pics from the day...

Strong work, MG. Going down the Eldo climbers trail with skis on your back is pretty awful.
I used the 3x function on your photo #87 where Klawatti S face is in the top right corner: it appears that the S face had its usual big slide. Can you confirm? (The other Klawatti images show the west side.) Thanks, N

Wow, that looks like a great traverse. Man I love that Royal Basin area, so beautiful and such amazing ski terrain in there! Last year when a friend and I went in there was a massive avalanche across the trail that had taken part of the cliff face off above and the debris was clear down to the massive old growth trees in the valley bottom. Perhaps you still saw evidence of it? I remember being very impressed with the scale of the destruction. For such a "short" mountain range, the Olym...
Nice job pulling that off while sick. I think I fell victim to the same cold while on our recent Holden trip. Definitely one of the worst colds I've had in years; dragging myself up Chiwawa was brutal, and that's only just over 8k feet. I can't imagine dealing with it while summiting Rainer...
Nice job baby! I'm super stoked for you <3
I rescind any dismissive comments I've ever made about altitude sickness, btw. Especially now that I've been stupidly hypoxic at a mere 10k.

Congratulations Elliot!! Nice work Amar making it happen albeit fighting a cold for that length of time. Hope you are on the mend.
Fantastic Zack and Trevor! It must have been quite spectacular to have the mountain to yourselves. Love the bike/ski combo! Congrats!
Blasphemy! ;)
Seriously though, looks like one sweet outing.

Amar you are right. My dyslexia is wrong!
Thanks for the explanation.

nice one! I was driving down Rainier Avenue Tuesday eve with the Mt. looking quite glorious - hey look I said to P, there's Z and T!
Good work, fellers. KURT HOELTING may even nod in approval.
I can't believe the Silver Star creek approach melted that fast and I'm sure with the recent weather it's even worse now. I've post-holed all the way along that creek before. Anybody skied Silver Star via the "summer/climber's approach" over Burgundy Col instead of the Silver Star creek approach? Do you loose a lot of the good skiing by approaching that way?
That's a huge effort. Very well done, pretty cool to have all that to yourself.
Nicely done! Impeccable style!

Hollywood and I lead a rock climb of The Mighty Tooth for the Mountaineers Basic Alpine Climbing class. Perfect conditions and everyone had a great time.
Upper Alpental lot open, tons of snow. It was very warm and sunny with the slopes just cooking and near the top of the snow approach we were postholing for sure. I did not expect much for the ski down late in the day, in fac...
There are probably several other option to get thru Icefall area with varying degrees of time and effort. The way we went (the most direct we could find) crossed over a snow bridge that was tucked up against a serac. After that fails (pretty soon) the way we went will be difficult. We had to cross multiple other crevasses in the area, but they should be fine for a while. There may be other options for a lower crossing towards the Winthrop then up. I was quite surprised at how much the area has c...

that's quality wandering without a map!
:) obviously that should have been "wondered". Although I do dream about having enough time to go into the North Cascades without a map and just finding for myself.
Great trip! Ranger station to Camp Sherman in 9 hr is pretty impressive. Do you have any pictures of the broken up area and the bridge crossings? (I cannot view your Facebook slideshow, it says I don't have a permission.)

Last Friday (5/11) I saw the great tracks down the Park; yesterday I saw a huge crown across the entire Park headwall and assume the entire thing had ripped over the weekend or on Monday.
Thanks for the info. I think above 2000 m the snowpack has to still finish the transformation into spring snow. It might take a while, it looks like the temperatures are goin...

Color me impressed! When you say "our route will not be functional much longer" do you mean the entire Corridor route around 12,000' is looking impassable this year? That would be unfortunate.
Very Very cool. I've been wanting to do that... so thanks for the great pictures, map, and beta. And inspiration.
Scurlock is the Hugh H of the Cascades. I mean that in a strictly complimentary sense, John.
Excellent!
Nice work hauling all the way in there under your own power. And getting there early enough to ski the whole Emmons Glacier via the moraine, I love that variation versus the standard Inter Glacier approach.

so conditions were stable? please elaborate .. esp on east/southeast facing slopes around 6K .. and how deep was the post holing ... and at what elevation?
Kath, conditions were probably the best I've ever seen, although maybe my memory is skewed by the previous 2 springs that were characterized by runnels, rain, and mush. What we saw was perfect melt-freeze c...

Yeah Kyle, it's an enticingly close objective and I was surprised that there were no reported descents (or ascents, for that matter) of that face. Maybe Lowell or someone else here has heard tale?
I'm not aware of previous ascents or descents. I don't think people have been aware of it as a potential ski line for very long--only since Scurlock...

Beautiful line, great place. All the better that it's been right under our noses for so long. You should be a guide. Maybe even write a book.
Snoqualmie Pass truly does stay good for an adventure. Uhm,, don't skate ski it (jk), and no - I don't...
sounds like the new slot. expect moguls come february ;)
