Well seeing that it's totally ruined today with a nasty rain crust to the top, here's what Upper I was like yesterday:

12-15" of surfy pow, though Lower I is still a bit of an adventure that another 18" of coverage would do best to smooth out.

Yesterday, I found the skiing to be better under the lift line for chair 1 than towards Lower Nash. It's still a bit brushy over there, but found it more enjoyable than the boulder fields of lower Nash. In fact, I would say it was quite pleasant.
I took a look up chair 2 the lift-line, and decided it probably wouldn't be worth the climb compared to lapping Debbie's. Certainly do-able, but bumpy looking.

Way to go, for twenty-fo'! Is that you in the second photo, Doug? And where is FS 3068?
First off, nice work on the headlamp start.
Second, did you say 24" of powder? Compare that to the 2 to 4" I found yesterday near Mission Ridge. Isn't that just the way it is.

Nice even weighting. Given the skis' history, that must've been one heck of a dip in the snow. Summit West is a fearsome place.
Not a wink of snow in Virginia; jealous.

Does this make my Summits worth more or worth less ?
Pretty impressive that you broke both skis at once!

Vince, I really like your pictures, the first one in particular, thanks for the report.
Griff - Thanks for the clarification. Been getting my dates off by one day for a week now...
Yes, Nov. 21, Wednesday. I would not recommend this tour for anyone nursing a cracked rib, unless you are much more deft on your skis than I was. ;-}

Thanks danpeck and j-bird. Half the credit goes to the lighting guy. He did excellent job ;)
I have to agree with TonyM.
I grew in Aspen, always an unfair rival to Vail, and as we always used to say...
"Vail. A freeway runs through it."
But, I hope you enjoy your time. You'll certainly enjoy a lot of great snow and even better weather - things I sadly miss hear in the PNW.

Is this actually today as in Wednesday the 21st??? :)
Wondering what Snoqualmie (aka Summit West) looked like?? Anyone up there.....Silas????
I fractured a rib or two two weeks ago and dont know that I could do an Alpy early season tour.....way too much unpredictability.
Looking for something smoother to ride........which I know might be dumb thing to say in the early season. LOL.

Jess, I definitely think I saw you tele-fail crosssing a ditch at the bottom of Tye Mill, why didn't that make the vid? :-p
wow, awsome. really raising the stoke here, going through all the trs.
We were also up there. Dod skied on his birthday for the first time ever!
Here's a little video we made: Www.vimeo.com/53878148

It was Nov 19, thanks,
Dan, I think it's a little early to tell, but don't think its going to be all that great, if it cools down and snows it will be OK,...... skiing, but nothing to write home about. Keep an eye on the telemetry.

Awesome! Was planning on doing the same trip before all the snow came. Where did you guys park? Did you go straight up Swamp creek or to the north of it? How was the access to the lines on East Goat?
Did you mean Nov 16?
So the word is that Mission Ridge will be opening on Friday and I thought it might be an opportunity to check the area out considering the skiing possibilities for those who reside there... as well as what it is like to live in and around Wenatchee.
Do you guys think it's worth it this weekend? Or shall I head for Baker or other possibilities?
Dan

Great shots, as always, Vince! I'm looking forward to seeing the TR from this Sunday. Winter is here!
Ugh that second picture looks more like a raging river than the parking lot. Good job checking the conditions. Nice turns too!

I took a quick run up there this morning. The snow was a little slow but it sure was nice to make some turns a little closer to home.
Hopefully the guilt went away. You missed first (and second) tracks, though, over on Skyline. I found similar conditions there at about 8 AM.

From a dry year, but in the resort. You can access this 4th class climb by walking or skinning (before the lifts open... Then they frown), or by taking a lift to within 300 yards or so from the base of the climb. From a distance it looks very steep and I suppose sections are, but a very cool climb for sure.

Didn't see anyone else besides our crew yesterday for another run from Twin Lake TH to the top of Windy Acres--detoured over and across barely covered rocks for a look at the sad ol' stone lean-to.
East winds dropped some flurries at Windy Pass proper and we watched clouds breaking like waves over Radio Mountain and Summit West filling in the low valley....beautiful play of weather systems.

Wow! I hope the road stays open for next weekend. What amazing pics and the conditions look excellent. I hope the stability holds as well.
yeah we knew it would slide---it was wider than i expected though, but the slope was only a hundred feet or so long
we actually went up to climb luetholds but pulled the plug before we even left the parking lot because we could tell it was bad avy conditions.
frontside hair because i wasnt wearing a hat and my long blonde hair was flowing in the wind....

Skiing was still great from 10k down to 8500', due to wind protection. Winds had scoured off most of the Buttery perfection below, from previous day, but was still quite shreddable.
Thanks Ron for allowing us to indulge on your private mountain. And a special thanks to Snoholic for allowing our presence in the new mobile snow home!

And when it finally does snow - it will avalanche on you!
And all the best skiing has an interstate running through it.
And where it's not mountains, it's a high and dry desert with no redeeming value.

Nope 49 North is only low angle with nothing worth mentioning, photos must come from Loup-Loup.
Yeah! Pretty much a flat-assed bunny hill with really crappy snow and no tree skiing, whatsoever ;)
Hey Joe! Way to get after it, elsewhere! I do believe you will be missing the St. Joe's, Bitterroot's, and Selkirk's much, though ;p Let us know how the BC goodies are down there.
Yup, and Hurricane Ridge is definitely a Nope, 'cuz it's so far away, short, unreliable, and all the snow has salt water in it.
