One other thing to mention is that this was my first weekend trying NTN Freedom bindings.  On the lifts Sat, they were just like the Freeride (for my style anyway), but much better for touring due to lighter weight and more ROM (especially w/ high-heels).  However, it did ice up in front of the toe cups needing to chip it away when transitioning from warm south side to cold North side.  Nothing a duct tape can't fix, the aluminum is more prone to icing than SS.  Overall i definitely like th...
I'm with ZAP, great pictures, thanks
Great photos!

I was the loner who interrupted your solitude that afternoon.  I headed back to the parking lot via the north face of Table which was all crust.  Left me feeling quite lucky to have sampled some of that beautiful but limited powder we found out on Ptarmigan.
Great destination choice :)
Sorry, it was still November, not xmas yet.  Getting hard to remember details these days...  Here are extra pics.
Liberty Bell slides 2 & 3, notice Wolverine trappers digging across slide.
Rowen, I'm the shorter of the two dudes you did laps with. I figured you'd be on here or TGR or something of the like. Let me know when you make it back to town. We didn't have a camera that day since it was so wet, but if it looks like it'll be below freezing all day, I usually take pictures. There are some zones you don't post on the web though...

Nice clinical description, but why no names???

Inquiring minds want to know...

Pockets of powder......now that is hopeful thinking........I love that about this crew. So hardcore!!

Cant wait to join you all out in the mountains in the next week or two when I am feeling better. The snow, hopefully, later this week will help the healing process!!
Wow, scary!  I've broken trail over those avy cones a few times. Never got stuck in the process, but it definitely made me nervous.  Thanks to the OP for sharing the info.  Can't wait to get out there later this season.
J and J nice meeting you two.  Glad we got out when we did because it certainly looked like it turned for the worse Friday morning.  Couple of pictures will be coming
Team of seven retrieved one totally buried and one partially buried snowmobile today from Liberty Bell 2 & 3.  Both machines started and were driven away!  LB 1 & 2 easy to get over, 3 not so bad but big hole left that can be avoided.
Individuals involved are physically fine and recovering from PTSD.  "He who crawls over avalanches"* even got to make some fine turns today!
Lessons learned?
-With new snow dumping, riding under these chutes is...
Thanks for the report, enjoyed the video as well. Thanks
Thanks for the info and pics. Looking at the lack of the skis going in to the snow I am kind of glad I made the seemingly wise decision to let my ribs heal a few more days before skiing.
Not as bad conditions the day before, the wind crust was pretty bad on the top 1/3 of the mountain

I was at Hurricane with my dad and brother Saturday, the weather was FABLOUS!!!

Just when you think you are at the top of your game conditions like this make you humble.

;D

Sounds great!  And thanks for the beta.  I've been curious to know what's going on up there.
Hey Vince - beautiful photo.  I sent you a PM.
Nice hang time on that jump Dave.....!
Glad you got out there Brian. I and my family went the next day and skied your tracks and a few stashes that you left for us.....Weather and vis was excellent, and it was a ghost town so even my 9 yr old got 12,000' of vert. Nice to ride the lifts occasionally to get the ski legs back. Now if this warm/wet stuff would just cool down.......!
No face plants to my knowledge; below the wild man taming the bullet proof.

Any face shots? Hopefully, no face PLANTS! Hope the conditions where you were had not the brutality of Lower Nash back to lodge...Survival sking at it's finest!!
Thanks for the vid, Silas. Good meeting you today! The Summits survived but my buddy's VerticalST's had a toe latch disassembly moment. He should have been using the '94 model! Good day for a hike and smiles. I actually enjoyed the glacial conditions.

Nice first post! Enjoyed the pictures, too.  There's a post at the top of the monthly top reports devoted to posting pictures, but your flicker line worked perfectly.  I remember last November's deep fluffy power, too.
Hey Don, I was the splitboarder you talked to. Glad to see someone documenting the stormy day. Nice work on the 18 months!
Nice tour, Don.  It's impressive to see how buried the outhouse is already.
"Is that you in the second photo, Doug?"

Yes indeededootali that is yours truly making the most out of the cut bank on the road.

Mack:

The FS rd. 3068 is a spur off of the FS rd. 3040 that heads east along Muller Ridge. From Port Angeles it is probably a 20 mile drive. The 3040 (also known as the East Twin used to be a FS through access dirt road from hwy 112 to hwy 101 over Muller Ridge allowing access to the Kloshe Nanitch lookout. From the north (wh...
Banosser change is nice sometimes and using all your gear year round is nice sometimes to. (Just got back from the desert) pastmyprime I think your right. This area is so beautiful with some prime hut skiing and big lines like on Mount of the Holy Cross. I won't be here for ever but I'm really glad I came here. And by anti-PNW i meant instead of Subaru's at a trailhead in the rain with tele skiers your at a trailhead in the sun with a land rover and dynafits! I'll post pictur...
Silas, how many offers of free skis have you got?

Thanks to your trip report I now have Sunday plans.  ;D
Are you gaining weight, Si?  Was this pre or post turkey  ;)
Nice!

Was curious how things were shaking out there, thanks.
I will, thanks for the offer. Hope you had a good Turkey day, I was up in the Methow, and it snowed 4 inches of heavy fluff last night, but was melting fast this morning.  Mission will be open today.

12-15" of surfy pow, though Lower I is still a bit of an adventure that another 18" of coverage would do best to smooth out.

nash looks posing like that
Well seeing that it's totally ruined today with a nasty rain crust to the top, here's what Upper I was like yesterday:

12-15" of surfy pow, though Lower I is still a bit of an adventure that another 18" of coverage would do best to smooth out.
Yesterday, I found the skiing to be better under the lift line for chair 1 than towards Lower Nash.  It's still a bit brushy over there, but found it more enjoyable than the boulder fields of lower Nash.  In fact, I would say it was quite pleasant.

I took a look up chair 2 the lift-line, and decided it probably wouldn't be worth the climb compared to lapping Debbie's.  Certainly do-able, but bumpy looking.
Way to go, for twenty-fo'!  Is that you in the second photo, Doug?    And where is FS 3068?
Custom early rise skis Silas.
Very nice!
First off, nice work on the headlamp start.
Second, did you say 24" of powder?  Compare that to the 2 to 4" I found yesterday near Mission Ridge.  Isn't that just the way it is.
Nice even weighting. Given the skis' history, that must've been one heck of a dip in the snow. Summit West is a fearsome place.

Not a wink of snow in Virginia; jealous.
Does this make my Summits worth more or worth less ?
Ooooh, TLT5's on Fran's feet . . .
Pretty impressive that you broke both skis at once!

Nice...FS Road love!
